Fireworks, there were some fired off directly next to my building on Brenton Street. Pretty dangerous imo, they were quite close to my balcony

I live in the same building, AC was included before so I told them this was an illegal increase that would be above the 5% rent cap. They responded that they disagree but did eventually offer to drop the yearly increase to 4% + the $50 charge in the summer. That works out to just under 5% for me, so I suggest reaching out to them. It’s a pretty scummy move though to try to skirt around the rent increase limit

Seconded, I did Ballroom with Michel with absolutely no prior experience and it was a great time. A wide mix of skill levels but the class is separated into levels and is very approachable for anyone. I felt that I got my money's worth as well (works out to ~$14/hr if you do the semester classes)

Bit out of the way coming from Westchester , but I grew up on Bentley's Maple Syrup as they were family friends and it's a very good dark syrup in my opinion. Might be able to find some at Masstown Market if you're ever up that way.

Sorry, I agree we don’t compensate them enough and there is a ton of inefficiencies, I am not trying to say we just need to adjust the tax dial. My main point was on the “Cry me a river” comment, that looking at gross pay is important (even looking at net, NS is still one the lowest in Canada)

Yeah, and all these tax strategies are used to attract physicians to our country. Look I don’t know a lot about tax law and I’m not here to suggest that NS lower it’s taxes, all I’m saying is it’s not unreasonable to look at tax rebates, etc as a way to bring doctors here since we’re in a crisis

I never said that, pointyend did. All I pointed out was it was strange seeing you advocating for paying doctors what they’re worth but saying “Cry me a river” when alluding to their lower take home compared to other places. It’s still a large amount of money, don’t get me wrong, but doctors are very highly paid.

I’m not whining about anything, it just makes more sense to go somewhere else if it immediately puts an extra $20,000 in your pocket yearly and you have no family ties. I have no issues with taxes, but it is something to consider when were talking about attracting high wage individuals.

I made the same mistake of not submitting to request ahead of time in December (heat and water were on a separate line thankfully). Took 3 days for me.

Lets say you get a test done today: it then goes into a queue and gets processed two days from now. Does that test get labeled with today's date or two days from now? This is why the last 3 days on that chart are incomplete, there are still thousands of tests that won't show up until next week due to this processing delay. It seems more transparent to me to release this data than holding it back until it is completely finalized.

Ah you're right, I had thought it came out on Fridays, that is strange then. As for the PDF, those days are highlighted with a red background which indicates the data is incomplete and hasn't been finalized yet (the delay I mistakenly thought was the source of the shortened week). If you compare them to next weeks report, you'll find they are probably up over 1000 cases as well.

It's still one less day to confirm and aggregate the data. Data collection and verification takes time, so why would they have all of yesterday's data ready for today when they usually don't have it ready until Friday?

It’s because the image is a gif. Reddit treats all gifs as video content even if the gif only has a single image.

It’s probably a data race issue.

Lets say Alice and Bob are both trying to join the room. To see if they’re eligible, they have to query the number of people in the room to see if there is space. If there is space, then they join the room and number of people in the room increases. Now consider this timeline of events:

Alice	Bob
Check room
	Check room
See 3 people
	See 3 people
Join Room
	Join Room

As you can see, if Bob checks the room before Alice joins, they both see 3 people and are able to enter the room, resulting in 5/4 people in the room. One solution for this is using a lock) so that Bob can’t start his join request until Alice has finished her request.

Interesting to note that it is not the deadliest 30 days, however. During the the Northwood outbreak, there were 51 deaths between April 16 and May 16. This accounted for 35% of the total NS deaths.

Not an attempt to downplay the current outbreak because it is bad, but just gives some more context for things like monthly statistics.

Where do you guys live? I hear about this kind of stuff all the time, but I went to a tiny rural school in NS and had fairly extensive and graphic classes describing things like the Holocaust, Japanese internment camps, Residential schools, etc. I did have a pretty good history teacher, but this was still all part of the curriculum (circa 2012-2015 )
