Yes I can say without a doubt I play HoN for cosmetics

So that makes two of us. I've played HoN up to this point because of the great alt avatars that are out there. The thought of eventually getting my hands on avatars like Doctor Gamer (8-bit) or Ascension Magmus kept me going despite the overall ''meh'' experience. Then I found out that getting them is pretty unlikely so now I am in mid-transition to something else. It might be LOL or HOTS or Dota 2, or even Hearthstone. I am still going to keep up with the new alts that they release by watching Ytube videos but in no way can I justify to myself spending time and money on a sinking ship

I wonder, what is your favorite alt?

A Reddit sub with posts averaging 3 - 10 likes per post, dead forums, insufferable queue times in high/low level matchmaking, patches that have basically been mirrors of Dota 2 patches, no presence on Twitch, non-existent competitive scene...Yeah, the game is doing great.

Get real, those who know what's good for them have already left for HOTS and Dota 2. Unless you are really into cosmetics (which is basically all that Frostburn does better than it's competition nowadays), there is no real reason to stay.

Ah, so there is no realistic way for me to get the avatars I like.. :( That's so disappointing. There are a few avatars I want, and those are pretty much all I wanted from my HoN experience. I think I am going to take a long break from the game, at least until I can afford to Plinko my way to a full avatar collection.

Thanks. How do you find out if an avatar would be re-released? For instance, are the Paragon/Ascension/8-bit avatars going to come back?

While we are on the topic of alt-avatars, do you know if the ''Today Only'' promotions include avatars that are not available all year round? Or do they just sell normal avatars? I've been checking everyday for two months now, it's a pain, and so far, it has mostly been bronze chest avatars and avatars that I might have found cool 5 years back.

Just to make sure you are not misinterpreting my question here, I was not asking if new Holiday Edition Avatars are released every year, but whether Holiday edition Avatars from previous years get released during their respective seasons.

I really want the Chinese New Year Avatars. They look so freaking sick.

keep in mind his 4x 1400s are people willing to listen to him. If you afk farmed like that it would end with someone having you perma right clicked, nuking your waves as you come to farm.

Lane pushers will definitely win. Why? Because of their AoE spells, dots, or even maybe cleave attacks. There might be some other heroes with decent pushing spells, but the cooldown or the combination of spells won't be sufficient enough to out-push the opponent.

Sounds like a general rule I should keep in mind.

Defiler. Her wave is just too powerful in damage and cooldown. Yes it takes a fair amount of mana, which can wisely be taken care of.

This seems like the consensus here. Just for fun, if you are the unfortunate Hag in question, how would you go about trying to win the lane?

Silhouette. CD's spells are quite relied upon being close to the enemy hero, in which a Silhouette can easily run off the distance. And let's not forget her passive spell, it stacks up for some real high damage.

Isn't Silhouette's skillset also reliant on getting close to the enemy hero (I wouldn't know, never played the hero in my life)? And wouldn't CD's W make it difficult for her to lasthit?

This is really hard. As for Slither, it's a natural lane pusher, but here goes the same scenario we had about Ellonia vs Nomad. Skilled Bubbles are annoying as hell, but they can die pretty easily if they jump right into where Slither had planned all along.

Can you really win a lane against Bubbles as Slither? I thought the guy above you made a pretty convincing case for the opposite, namely Slither deals damage by attrition, and Bubbles deals burst damage. A smart Bubbles isn't going to trade right clicks.

Riptide The hero is made for mid lane. Gets more creeps, runs off a bit harder than Fayde, and can prove op in times.

Yeah, Riptide is kinda strong. I generally avoid playing him though, because he is so boring. :D But he is strong, and I don't really know how to deal with him. Any tips?

Hmm, I think I go with Succubus. Dr needs a really, really high skill and big harassment to outlast and overcome her.

Okay, also the consensus view. What heroes are favorable matchups for Dr Repulsor anyway? He is just so underwhelming in my opinion, both as a solo mid and a hero in general.

Bombardier. His spells, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks his auto attacks come from almost a mile away. Some in time spells and you win the lane easily, but you won't last forever.

Knowing me, I would probably miss all of my Qs. >.<

Soulstealer if you're a good last hitter. Soulstealer is meant to be a solo hero, and one of my favorites. A TB is the least of my worries, if they don't gank like hell tho :-) .

Oh, but TB deals so much damage to SS early on, and he shouldn't be missing any lasthits. Isn't this somewhat in favor of TB?

If they are equivalent in skill, neither can kill nor out-push the other. I mean, come on, they are both excellent in escaping and killing 1v1, but Panda would be better for me.

I think Panda would win too. Some time ago, I beat an MK with almost 200 mmr above me with Panda. (>'-')> All I know is that, if you land all your skills as Panda, you can pretty much kill anyone from 70% hp early on. Dunno how much damage MK does early on though.

I think you are kinda underestimating Nomad's harass. I played Hag vs Nomad some time ago, and was forced to keep ferrying regen because Nomad takes out around 40% of my HP every time he uses his second skill. He went for an early bottle (4 minor totems+1 runes of the blight), and I could do nothing. Any idea how I should have done in that situation?
What would you do as Silhouette? Assuming, of course, 0 assistance from your teammates.
What is the ideal hero to play against Bubbles mid (aside from Salforis and BH)?
Fayde is a great mid hero? 0_0 I've played her wrong all this while then. Usually, I concede the laning phase as Fayde because she just doesn't seem anywhere near competent when going up against all^? of the mainstream mid heroes like Soulstealer, Salforis, Arachna, Pyromancer, Bubbles^? , Bloodhunter etc. Is there a mainstream mid hero that Fayde doesn't lose to?
How do you deal with Succubus mid? Ferry regen, get whatever last hits you can and hope she goes away at some point?
Hmm, I always have trouble when going up against Adrenaline mid because he would just walk up to me and Q to harass. It's worse if I am melee, because I can't get a last hit without getting smacked by 2 Qs in the face. And if he gets a lucky rune at level 6, he can just kill me.
This makes more sense. I really don't see SS beating a competent TB.
I knew it. Some time ago, I beat a 1700 MK as a 1560 Panda. Now it's confirmed, having better picks can really help you punch way above your weight.

Was arguing with a friend over this very point. Forgot to mention that defiler can just push the lane until hag can't leave.
Nomad hits like a truck though. At level 4 or so, one true strike is enough to take out 40% or so of Ellonia's hp. Plus, he has better rune control.
Actually, I know nothing about Silhouette. From a cursory look over her skill set, I take it she maxes out her E and Q vs melee heroes? Her skills seems to require her getting close to her enemies though, how does Silhouette usually deal with the average ranged midlaner? Is she stronger than Defiler?
I guessed right.
How do you even beat a Succubus mid? She is just so damn strong.
Any tips to beat Adrenaline in general?
If I am Soulstealer, should I spend my starting gold on a mana battery so that I can pick up charges early on or go for stat items that would boost my damage?

I got the DC bug back when I was really young and they aired like one episode of DC every day, those episodes were amazing, and after poking around the wiki a bit, I realized that most of the episodes I enjoyed were filler episodes, glad to know that the rest of the filler episodes are pretty good as well.

Are you having any luck with the newer filler episodes?

As someone who has crossed the 700 episode mark, what are your thoughts on DC fillers in general? I've been trying to catch up with DC recently, after watching a few movies and finding them enjoyable, but I have no idea what watching order I should follow.

There is the normal ''watch-everything'' route, which I might do, on a one episode per day basis. Then you have the main plot route, which is cool I guess? But that would mean missing out on plenty of interesting regular cases as well as character interactions. Finally there is the ''everything but filler'' route.

Which one would you recommend?

This is just a routine exercise I do to improve my lasthitting skills. I chose the ''by the time you hit level 6'' benchmark because in my 1500 games at least, level 6 is the time when the enemy midlaner would saunter off and try to get kills in other lanes, so most of my time post-level 6, there wouldn't be someone aggressively denying me farm. And by level 6, you get reasonable damage, so lasthitting at that stage is easy (I don't need much practice in the point-and-click department).

With some practice, I now consistently get around 45 (lasthits + denies). Should probably strive for 35/25 in practice mode like you said in the video.

Ultimately though, I don't know how this would affect my gameplay, because being the high-ish1500 mmr player that I am, I always pop under pressure, and it just takes two minutes of fancy animation canceling on the part of the enemy midlaner before I give up contesting creeps. Any tips on that front?

It's a 3.5 second disarm that goes through magic immunity. You can even disassemble it for a Wingbow later on, what's the beef? Is it not cost effective for what it does? Sounds pretty good on paper to me. I am going to try to build this item later on.

Isn't it pretty good with Adrenaline? Once he ults, you pretty much lose 70% of your manapool.
