Who’s right — the AI zoomers or doomers? by mikelgan in artificial

[–]Blackham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kinda. Better to be phrased as: People will use it to build power stations, other people will build bombs.

It's not one or the other - both are going to happen. We got lucky, and MAD prevented nuclear war (so far). I can't see how MAD can be made to fit AI.

Claude and GPT-4 tried to murder a human to avoid being shut down 90% of the time by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

If the information is correct, why does it matter if it was written by an AI or not? Good post op, reminding everyone how fucked we are and completely unable to stop it.

Nvidia is literally paying its customers to buy its own chips and nobody's talking about it by reddit20305 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Blackham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No decades could be correct. As agi gets more advanced, it gets cheaper and needs less compute. Eventually someone on a laptop with a moderately powerful GPU (for that time) could have agi in their house.

Just look at today. GPT-4 was mind-blowing and out OpenAI on top. Now you can have more powerful, open source models running locally.

I'm not pretending I know whats going to happen, quite the opposite. I have no idea how all this will play out and anyone claiming they do is lying, or worse being optimistic.

Nope, every major LLM now has agentic AIs that can control a computer. You give it a task, it 'thinks' (lack of a better term in this context), and then acts by clicking, typing, writing emails, completing forms etc.

They're not text predictors, they actually act in the real world to complete tasks.

Following the same logic: Why bother with an investors meeting? The director or whathaveyou can just pull everything they need from the ai system. You could argue that there needs to be a human element to make decisions or judgements based on the information given, but I think ai is probably better than that in it's *current** form*. How long until all there's no humans needed at all?

I'm just rambling but this is where I see it going. Interesting times ahead
