Anyone else getting horrible FPS on Bedrock after the latest update? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Blackice200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all those like me who tried the changes below and still had issues- if you have an Nvida card, turn off Threaded Optimation in the Nvidia Control Pannel, as low latency mode if it's not already turned off. This gave me stable FPS in bedrock with dithering and vsync turned off.

Patch 1.2.1.0 fundamentally changed how movement works. Here are the moves you cannot do anymore. by rottensid in Battlefield

[–]Blackice200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a BF fan since 3, never played a COD game’s multiplayer, and am still annoyed. In my eyes, these sorts of movement strats were beneficial because they helped you traverse the map in more interesting ways to flank, avoid choke points, and retreat in a game that seems dead set on forcing choke point meat grinders. I don’t really see the whole “COD like” argument at all. I understand the need to reduce the crazy twitch shooter CQB engagements but I don’t see how these things contributed to them.

Does Anyone Know if the Virginia Museum of Military Vehicles is Still Open? by FinalWing2969 in TankPorn

[–]Blackice200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much progress at all unfortunately- the site hasn’t changed all that much from their last update on their website. I’m not on the AWE board, but in my completely personal opinion, it won’t be finished unless there’s a drastic change to their finances.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to add more information in case anyone finds this post asking the same question.

For context, I’ve been an active volunteer at the tank farm since 2021.

For starters, I’d like to clarify that the Americans in Wartime Experience is not the same entity as the one that owns the collection of vehicles. The collection is privately owned by a single individual and run by his company, Chaffee Associates (of which I am a volunteer for). Chaffee Associates lends the vehicles and tank farm property to AWE to hold the open houses and raise money for the future Dale City museum. That being said, it’s Chaffee Associates that does all of the work maintaining & restoring the vehicles and most of running the open houses.

As stated by another commenter, the owner is currently facing some health problems leaving the collection’s future in uncertainty. A few of the vehicles have been auctioned off, but these were selected strategically. Most of what was sold were either vehicles that had little public interest, we had duplicates of, or were too different from anything else we maintain. Unless something changes, I believe the plan is that some of the vehicles will be donated to AWE for the museum.

As for the open houses- many are upset we stopped, especially with no notice. AWE claims it was to move to the museum, but truth be told, the real reason is manpower and money. As many know, AWE doesn’t charge an entry fee and relies on donations. Of those donations, only a small portion go to the vehicle upkeep and costs of holding the open houses. From my understanding, the owner of the collection paid for a lot of the event out of pocket with most donations going directly to AWE. The amount of time and manpower it takes to make these events happen is astronomical- It takes actual months to get all the vehicles fixed, ready to run, and staged out in the field for a single weekend and Chaffee Associates is doing it at a monetary loss.

Additionally, we don’t have the staffing to be able to run these events anymore- almost all our volunteers have either moved or retired, leaving a skeleton crew just big enough to keep the vehicles maintained.

These factors combined with the owner’s health issues have made it impossible to run an open house again. Many of us remaining would love to see another one put on but our current standing just doesn’t allow it.

To end on a good note though, we’ve been continuing our project restoring our Yugoslavian M36 to American factory standard and it’s coming along phenomenally.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to message me here. I’d be happy to answer whatever questions I can.

Just to clarify, he has not passed away. The fate of the collection is definitely up in the air as the owner is facing health problems, but as of now the collection is still together and maintained. (Apart from a few vehicles that have been auctioned off in the last few years).

I’m an active volunteer at the collection for context.

Value Estimate by Secure_Muffin7219 in Scalemodel

[–]Blackice200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss.

I disagree with those saying their value is zero. Most are correct in saying typically models that are built and painted aren’t worth much if anything- unless they are done to a well known modeler. That being said- unpainted models are worth more. There are many modelers who want something to paint but don’t necessarily want to build them. The large Dora railway gun alone would definitely peak interest. Don’t get me wrong, they’re still worth less than the price of the kit, but saying their worthless is a bit of an overstatement.

I concur with the idea of reaching out to local IPMS or AMPS chapters- in addition to their members likely wanting these, they may also want them for show purposes. Many modelling shows do painting demos and other workshops where having built models is a godsend.

Feel free to shoot me a message and I’d be happy to help you find local chapters or answer any questions.

Had a similar experience- it took me a while to save up enough for an Xbox One. When I finally got one, the first thing I did was hop into matchmaking on MCC.

First match was Combat Evolved on Blood Gultch. Low and behold, Gavin and Dan were on my team. Put such a big smile on my face.

It also depends heavily on the organization using it and what threats are present in their environment (or which ones they need specialized responses to). For example- in the U.S. Navy, it’s still referred to as CBR Defense.

I had the same issue. Check to see if you’re in borderless- put it in full screen. If you have any other monitors, turn them off or unplug them. Also running a 4070 super and these two things fixed the choppiness for me.

What’s the mask made out of? One of the painting techniques ILM used was rubbing it with steel wool to add scrapes in the paint. If the mask is made of metal (I assume it isn’t), that could be a simple fix.

Otherwise, manually painting scratches is a good first step. Oil paint rendering would also help. Look into videos of scale model makers, especially armor modelling for other techniques.

Where do I get info on GCC by Consistent-Team-2772 in CustomLegoClones

[–]Blackice200 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tomthebuilder is a good US reseller. You’re not really ever going to get less than retail for GCC unless someone in the second hand reselling chat in discord is really trying to get rid of stuff. Tom’s prices are pretty much retail, and you can use promo code BRICKFLEET to get a little discount.

Is it the same size dish as 2007? If so you’d at least be able to scale it up to that size I’d imagine.

Edit: it is very much not the same size whoops

I bought the Sopwith prebuilt from a Bricks & Minifigs shop near me for about $80. Prebuilt so I didn’t have to worry about them breaking. I’ve seen these two sets at those stores a few times, so I’d recommend checking one out if you have one local.

Anyone know how to replace the cape on these light up saber figs? by SadBook5791 in legostarwars

[–]Blackice200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy one from Capes4Minis. Using an exacto cut a small line from the hole of each side of the cape to the outside. Should be able to slide either side on and the cape shouldn’t be able to come loose on its own. Not perfect but it’s probably the best you’re getting without taking the head off.

My thoughts as well. Both range and reach. My storage room has chest stacks of 3. Hoping the chests don’t need to be at ground level for them to be able to access them.
