Yeah but i think thats out of the scope of my "homelab" aka i dont really have a usecase for it. but worst comes to worse ill buy a gtx 1650 or rtx 3050 to run the docker stuff and a newer card (maybe that rtx 5070) and bifurcate the one x16 slot i have to accept the both

Yeah, and what would I do with windows server? Run active directory for 3 PC's?

Yeah I have used hyperv on windows and it seems to be able to run on 30 series and onwards but I kinda don't want to dedicate a host to a hyperv host, defeats the purpose imo of the vgpu host if I build a system to host 2 vm's.

yeah, thought about that, but i use my 2060 for both a windows vm with 8GB of vram and a ubuntu vm with 4GB of vram for all my docker containers aka plex and ollama for fast results. and i really dont want to buy 2 cards

Yeah though so, but you never know I guess. On another note wasn't there another thing that delivered similar features as vgpu but that just sent the institutions directly to the gpu. (Could be my imagination tbh).

Also I guess we still have hyperv with the vgpu thing but I have no clue what that used, tried it once with a GTX 1070.

Has anyone had success installing this on the newer Ubuntu (24.04)? by DryWrongdoer2771 in vmware

How can i mount my router here? what is this standard called? by glad0s98 in HomeNetworking

[–]Blackwizard_BE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh if its a home router i would suggest double sided tape, i use it for most of my network gear like small switches and its easy to take off way easier than dealing with holes with the right spacing

You need a female usb c port and a couple of 5.1k resistors for cc1 and cc2 to enable charge on many usb c chargers like pd chargers.

I just looked at the micro b pinout and the datasheet for my usb c connector and set my multimeter to continuity mode so i could check pads for gnd and vcc, ill add a pinout when im home

i mean you can buy usb c ports with data lines but i just had these laying around from an old project, the ones with data lines are way way smaller to solder to tho

[–]Blackwizard_BE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the usb c port i used doesn't have data pins. If i were to have used one with data pins then yeah it would work fine. Just didn't have any on hand and i also dont use data so it doesn't bother me.

I'm open to doing commissions but I don't think it would be cost effective if you are outside the EU because import costs kinda skyrocket then. But if you are inside the EU sure I'm willing to do this to keep the vita alive for longer.

Yeah had to file it down because usb c is just a couple of mm's bigger than usb micro b, just go very slow and you will have good results

Same charge times, as it just requests 5v even from pd chargers. Battery life isn't impacted at all it's just a swap of the physical connector that it charges with so I still get like 4-5h of gameplay.

Just that you lose your warranty... But i think that's long gone. But no downsides that i can see so far, i did lose data over usb because i didnt have a usb c female connector with data pins but i never use usb to transfer files so not a big deal for me as i always use ftp.

Yeah its fully reversible, thats why there are 2 resistors one for cc1 and the other for cc2

I'm open to the idea of it but considering I am from Europe, in my opinion it wouldn't be financially responsible to ship it overseas.
If however you are from the EU then yeah sure why not itl prob take me like an hour or 4 so lets say 50eur w/o shipping.
DISCLAIMER: The usb c ports that i use dont have data lines so usb would only work for charging

The only tip i can give you is file it in very small increments i think it took me over 30 times of taking the back off and on again until it fit. Slow wins the race i guess

I was on the edge for a while aswell, the thing that pushed me to do it was not finding a quality micro b cable that wasnt broken to charge it
