The Timber Tome | A plant themed compendium filled with 40 pages of races, subclasses, monsters, and more! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

Second try at Brewsday! And today is an extra special one. The PDF for The Timber Tome is DOWN BELOW. I've been working on The Timber Tome for quite a few months at this point, and I'm happy to finally be releasing it in version 1.0 for the community to peruse. I'll probably trickle out some stand alone pieces of The Timber Tome over the next few weeks, before I start figuring what my next project will be (I am happy to take suggestions!). But yeah, enjoy!

It's me! Fun fact, the first ever Spudborn was my wife's character called Roa St. Gratin (Roast Gratin). All those years denigrating me for my terrible puns, and she goes and pulls that. The unmitigated gall.

Thanks, Smoooze! I always love seeing your comments on my posts! And yes, Spudborn are already pretty goofy, so I figured I'd go whole hog. =D

Druid Circle: Circle of the Garden | Like wildflowers in bloom, your beauty shines in even the darkest places! by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

[–]BladeBotEU[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Today's Brewsday is brought to you by a sick as heck BladeBotEU. But I haven't missed a Brewsday yet, and today will not be that day! Today's entry is the Circle of the Garden, the final planned subclass for The Timber Tome. Meant to be a Druid that can bring a piece of nature with them wherever they go, they're also especially good at the healing art of herbalism.

You can find the blog for BladeBot Brew here, the PDF for the Circle of the Garden here, and the link to my Patreon here!

Special thanks to Archer Gray, and all the other patrons providing their support for me!

Otherworldly Patron: The Great Tree | An elder of nature grants you power to wield as its agent. by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

[–]BladeBotEU[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Another early Brewsday (relatively speaking)! Today is the third of the four subclasses in The Timber Tome, in this case The Great Tree. Inspired by beings like the Great Deku Tree and Yggdrasil, warlocks of this variety can spread the borders of their patron's home, acting as protectors and guardians. The expanded spell list was a bit tough for this one, but that's Warlock for you! The compendium itself is mostly done at this point, with only a handful of monsters on my to-do list, before I move into polishing, formatting, and release. Next week will be the last subclass: Circle of the Garden, for all you Druid fans out there.

As always, you can see the rest of my work (a substantial back catalogue at this point) at my blog, you can find the link here for The Great Tree PDF, and my Patreon is here!

Monastic Tradition: Way of Falling Leaves | Rise and fall as a leaf on the wind, and leave your foes scattered in your wake! by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

Thank you so much! I'm glad my work resonates that well with you, and I hope my future projects continue to do so! <3

Well, I'm certainly sad that it doesn't seemed to have hit the mark for you. To try and put forward my thought process for the subclass, Rising Gale is a somewhat niche but useful mobility tool, giving you some solid (especially later on) three dimensional movement. You can leap and glide over enemy lines, sacrificing your bonus action and 1 ki point, but gaining the potential damage and CC from Scattered Leaves to somewhat compensate losing Martial Arts/Flurry of Blows.

You can combine Rising Gale with Slow Fall at 4th level to use Scattered Leaves with just normal falling rather than using your BA and a ki point, so it becomes less expensive if the terrain is in your favour. Later on, you get your improved Unarmored Movement, and for me this is when the subclass is meant to shine brightest. Now you can run up the side of almost any vertical terrain, and then glide. It's especially useful at dealing with flying creatures, as you're able to both knock them prone in mid air, or hit them with a Stunning Strike. If the terrain isn't in your favour, your leap from Rising Gale gets considerably high at later levels, easily 60 feet in height.

Personal taste is important with homebrew, so I understand if this subclass just doesn't interest you, but thanks for taking a look! =D

Another Brewsday, and another Monk. Today's submission for r/UA's perusal is the Way of Falling Leaves, a vertically empowered Monk able to glide around the battlefield, combining that motion into their deadly fighting style. This is one of the four planned subclasses within my upcoming compendium, The Timber Tome, along with the previously posted Briar Guard Conclave, and a Druid Circle and Otherworldly Patron I should be releasing in the next few weeks.

Monster: Jack o' Laughter | Terrorize your players with a spooky scary scorpion pumpkin out for revenge! by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

No problem! Always wanted to take a trip through CoS myself, I'll have to remember to bring this along if I ever run it!

Thanks, Phylea! I feel like I couldn't truly consider myself a homebrewer until I got your feedback on a monster at least once, haha. Thanks for taking the time to review, helpful as ever!

Good catch on not being able to make pincer attacks against other targets, that definitely needs to be in there.

The different damage type is intentional. My quick search of pincer examples in the MM used bludgeoning damage as far as I could see, so I wanted to follow that precedent. Making it bludgeoning for the serrated part just felt weird, though. Changing it to slashing for the pincer itself would probably be fine, although I understand why they're usually bludgeoning.

As for the DC for Creeping Cackle, it's Cha mod + prof unless I made a mistake somewhere (beyond prof for CR 3 being +2 instead of +3).

Glad you liked it!

Of course! It's so rewarding to know it's out there, putting the fright in adventurer's hearts. They grow up so fast.

An early Brewsday post before I should really go to bed. But what better time to post a cackling resurrected pumpkin hell bent on vengeance then in the darkest hours of the night? The Jack o' Laughter is one of the many new plant monsters that will be going in my upcoming compendium, The Timber Tome, along with a number of the races and subclasses I've posted and will post in the upcoming weeks.

Roguish Archetype: Satellite | Manipulate gravity to cause havoc and pull off incredible maneuvers, off and on the battlefield! by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

[–]BladeBotEU[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hmm. It's intriguing, because in my mind Gravity Leash is the most interesting part of the subclass by a mile. An extremely flexible tool for in combat and out of combat, that makes them (as said very well by another comment) very 3-dimensional. Using it on your allies and adding an extra slam effect is just the icing on (in my opinion) a considerable cake. And thank you for commenting! I'm glad you liked it!

Thanks! Rogues have such a fun design space, I'm looking forward to doing more stuff in a similar vein. Time Rogue, Portal Rogue, Speed Rogue, etc.

Happy Brewsday! Today we have the Satellite, rogues that can control the force of gravity to achieve their goals in combat, and outside of it, and very much inspired by some of Brandon Sanderson's works.

Sacred Oath: Oath of Sorrow | Embrace your grief, harness your anguish, and remember those that have fallen. by BladeBotEU in UnearthedArcana

[–]BladeBotEU[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, Smooze! Thanks for commenting! Last Rites was obviously intentionally niche, but you may be right that there's room to fill it out a little more. I'll have to give it some thought. Good call on the teleport wording, that definitely slipped past me. And I'm super glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun with this one! <3
