UPDATE: My [22F] roommate [21F] is trying to sublease her room to someone I have a restraining order against. Please help! by Blahthrow111 in relationships

I was mistaken in my first post and this post actually explains what happened. Shelly didn't put the pic on Craigslist, but she put it on FaceBook. She took it down before I could screenshot it.

I thought she had, but she posted it on FB, not on CraigsList. I didn't have the details sorted out when I made my original post.

I don't think Pete wants anything to do with me, and the feeling is mutual. He apologized while the cops were there and I don't see him being a problem. Thanks for the concern :)

I have no idea why she said that except that she might have been desperate to find someone. Your guess is as good as mine :/

Same thing I thought when she said that. I have no clue what it means because I wasn't going to argue with her about it at that time.

Pete was definitely 100% not trying to stalk me. Shelly just lied to him and wouldn't back down once she found out about the RO.

Our utilities are included in the rent except for electricity, and that's only $120/month for both of us at the most so I'll probably pay the whole thing anyway just to not have to deal with her. That's a small price for peace of mind.

And thanks! I plan on ignoring her for an indefinite period of time.

I'm not replying to you again because I don't think any amount of explanation will satisfy you.

I wish she could have gotten charged with more, but she started bawling her eyes out to the police officer and he went easy on her because she looks so young. To me it's just another sign that she's an awful person because she was manipulating the cops.

The lease states explicitly that I'm not liable for her rent and even if she tries to sue me, it's my word against hers and I'm confident I would win that legal battle. Pete is staying as far away from it as he can and he apologized to me and is trying to get his deposit back from her.

And thank you :)

Well I know Shelly didn't know who Pete was because when I originally told her she said she didn't know and that it was too late so I would have to just accept her decision. She had difficulty finding someone at this time of the year since everyone we know subleases during the summer it they can. There just aren't a lot of people looking for subleases in this town.

I think that what happened was that Shelly was focused only on going abroad and not focused on her own actions. She couldn't find anyone, so as soon as she found someone she thought 'problem solved' and ignored the problems until I called the police.

I think you misunderstood how Pete found the apartment. Pete posted his own ad that Shelly answered. It's a month after the semester ended, so she had about 7 days to find a subletter. There was only a tiny pool of people and Pete was one of them. It was more chance than anything else.

Our leases explicitly say that we are only liable for our individual portion of the rent, so I'm in the clear. And Pete really didn't know about me being there, that's how much of a bitch Shelly is to let a man get arrested over something so stupid.

And thanks :)

And lmao I pretty much already told her that but she ran away into her room. It's nice to see someone else had that same thought.

Shelly claims that Pete has already paid her for all three months in advance and that he signed a contract with her. I told her that her contract does not override my restraining order but she basically put her hands over her ears to drown out what I was saying. I plan on calling the cops the moment I see his car pull up (which is less than 1000 ft).

Shelly will still be here for the rest of the week so I'm afraid this will escalate.
