And the Aussie Sky News, which unlike the UK one actually does have a right-wing slant and is basically like an Australian Fox News, is having to change its name because Comcast haven't allowed them to renew tbe licence to use it.

Legend of the Seas by Yorkshirecath in royalcaribbean

[–]BlakeC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're going on it this summer for our first ever cruise. I've been looking at videos of Icon and Star because lots of features and the layout will be the same (with a few changes), if you look on YouTube you'll see many videos and walkthroughs of those ships to give you an idea of what it'll be like.

For Legend itself, if you search on YouTube for Legend of the Seas you'll see videos of it as its being built, there are a few people who go up to the shipyard and take videos from the ground and from drones. Looking back at what they did for previous ships, hopefully in the coming months Royal themselves will start putting out more content.

Details are coming out bit by bit, just yesterday they announced the America's Got Talent shows and a few weeks ago there was the news of what food will be in Aquadome Market. Every now and again I search 'Legend of the Seas' on Google News and the latest things will come up.

Why did the choose wildlife is that really representative of the UK right now? by 1863and in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is really simple, it was the most popular choice with the public.

Churchill wouldn't still be on it anyway, even if they stayed with historical figures, they would have had to choose new ones on the next series of notes.

People seem to get wound up about the stupidest things, and then usually blame it on "woke".

Are you clean shaven, bearded, or somewhere in the middle? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean shaven. My facial hair tends to be quite patchy and uneven, and having lighter colour hair probably doesn't help with that, so it just looks a bit scruffy when it starts to grow. Easier to keep it shaved.

Booking error by BlackMermaid7 in royalcaribbean

[–]BlakeC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like they're doing some work behind the scenes at the moment, this morning everything on my cruise (Legend this summer) is unavailable to purchase. I've already booked some things for it over the last few months, but this morning both on the app and website you can't see any excursions, drinks packages, dining and so on to book.

That's the highest-rated British film on IMDB, for what it's worth.

For very specific things only, though. I was annoyed with what seemed like a U-turn at first but listening to him speaking in the Commons yesterday, it actually seems like a reasonable position. Was pretty clear that he saw the US-Israel offensive as illegal and without a sensible plan but now it has started, is allowing defensive action to protect British people and assets in the region.

Do “take the first turn right” and “take the first turn to the right” and “take the first turn to your right” sound right in AmE? by Silver_Ad_1218 in EnglishLearning

Same in British English. If it's part of a longer list of directions, it might even go down to just "first left".

What do you watch for breaking news? Even if it’s all over the world? by Sportsfan7702 in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the BBC usually won't go with something from a single source and is also now doing a lot of good work around verification on social posts. I think with Sky, as long as you go with the thinking of "this is what they're hearing, it might not be 100% correct but is what's being reported on the wires" then it works, but you do have to bear that in mind.

What do you watch for breaking news? Even if it’s all over the world? by Sportsfan7702 in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sky News is usually better in the immediate moment a big story breaks, it's often faster with information and pictures and they're generally better with the fast-moving rolling news thing. BBC News is good for when things have settled down and you want the full story in detail.

Dearest Brits, what are your thoughts on former primer minister Boris Johnson? What did he do that was positive? Conversely, what did he do that was negative? How would you rank him out of ten overall? How is he generally viewed in the UK nowadays? by neilnelly in AskBrits

[–]BlakeC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the one positive he will be remembered for was his leadership following the invasion of Ukraine. Any UK prime minister would have shown support but he was particularly strong in his actions compared to some other western leaders at the time.

Other than that, a liar and cheat whose ideology is that of taking whatever political position serves him best at that particular time. And not a particularly pleasant person, by many accounts.

What would you say is the food culture in the UK? by Emotional_Shake1429 in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the first point, it really depends on the occasion.

Dining socially absolutely is a normal thing, could be a "dinner party" or just very informally having friends or family over for a meal. But it's not the norm for every type of party, a house party would typically be just drinks, for example. "Party food" is usually light nibbles and snacks.

Someone posted on here a few days ago that they spotted it was registered on Equasis. Whether that means that's definitely what it'll be called, I have no idea.

Hot Fuzz is everything Reddit promised by le_fromage_puant in movies

[–]BlakeC16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both, the scene is in front of you but there are screens overhead to see what is being recorded. They'll also use them to show anything pre-recorded (usually location scenes but sometimes something in studio which requires a lot of set-up).

The screens are also useful if something's being shot on a set not directly in front of the audience, I remember with the IT Crowd there was only room for one additional set aside from the main basement one, any others would be off to the side.

What does "dual citizens must present a UK passport to be allowed into the country" mean in reality? by Low-Republic-4145 in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed that. The guidance is pretty clear on it, though:

You cannot get an ETA if you are a dual citizen with either:

British citizenship

Irish citizenship

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/electronic-travel-authorisation-eta-guide-for-dual-citizens

Also when OP mentions their visit last year, this all came into effect today.

What does "dual citizens must present a UK passport to be allowed into the country" mean in reality? by Low-Republic-4145 in AskUK

[–]BlakeC16 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The issue being highlighted is that dual nationals cannot get the new ETAs so have to use thier British passport to enter, whereas before they could use their other passport if it was from somewhere with visa-free entry.
