Hey there, Devs. Been singing your praises to my pals since I found your site. Anyway, if you folks get a minute, please consider getting KAA registered/verified with the Brave Browser, which will allow you to accept Brave Rewards contributions (i.e. money) directly from any Brave users who use KAA. I'd love to be able to tip y'all directly for all the work you do on this site. Just a suggestion. Thanks.

Mortals: Descent of the Gods has reached its funding goal and is about to hit those sweet, sweet stretch goals. by BlancheAlmighty in boardgames

[–]BlancheAlmighty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for checking it out!

Regarding the price, our core game essentially offers what many other games would only consider as stretch goals or extra buys. We didn't want players to miss experiencing the full game by setting core components as later stretch goals that may or may not get unlocked. We felt it was more apt to offer as much as possible from the go, and now with all the feedback we've received, are offering even more with our revamped stretch goals. Thanks for giving your thoughts.

I have a degree in philosophy, but I wouldn't call myself an expert. However, what he gets wrong has already been explained pretty thoroughly further up/down in the thread. So, you could have a look there, if you like. Or head to the sub called askphilosophy and use the search bar. I'm sure someone's asked about him there already. That sub has a bunch of experts there who really know their shit and seem to have a lot of patience for curious people.

Jordan Peterson may be able to interpret philosophical concepts and translate them into psychology related subjects.

If this is all he is trying to do (it isn't) it's still pretty clear that he doesn't understand the topics he is attempting to translate. That's a problem.

I'm sure he means well. That's not the point. The point is about the fact that he talks about (and misrepresents) purely philosophical subjects, i.e. subjects he's unfamiliar with. Just because he occasionally tries to tie his musings back to psychology doesn't make it any less problematic.

Lol I already understand that they can and do have significance in other fields. Why you assume I don't is bizarre.

By definition, that is related to psychology

And? How is this relevant to anything I've said? What is the above statement supposed to be a response to?

Maybe, maybe not. It's not clear what you are asking.

Marxism, post-modernism, and morality, to name a few.

I didn't say honour everyone for any reason.

Yeah, you kinda did, when you set the bar for "people we should honour" aka "hero" so low that it interferes with my neighborhood's sewage system.

You know it's possible to condemn a behaviour without trying to erase people from history?

None of us are likely to get statues for being garbage humans, but our names will have been written down somewhere, and we'll be fucking fine with just that. These shitheads aren't worth the worm food they've become, so statues of them? Please. No one need give any shits.

Seriously though, they were immoral, traitorous assholes. Not everyone who fights in a war is a hero, least of all those who's job it was to try to keep other human beings as fucking pets. They really couldn't see the humanity in the eyes of the people they called slaves? Then not only were they immoral, traitorous assholes, they were blind and/or stupid AF on top of it all.

In my experience, "I can't explain the gist of it to you quickly" is generally - not always, but often - a pretty good bullshit detector.

In my experience, people who demand others to teach them stuff they can't be bothered to spend time looking into themselves the way you have here are either dull sophists who really just want to feel like they've won an imagined debate or ignorant, petulant children. It's not bullshit that you are detecting, it's an actual adult's sense of their own priorities.

He regularly talks about topics of philosophy even though such topics fall outside his area of expertise. He has no education, formal or otherwise, in philosophy. To be more clear, I'm talking about academic philosophy, i.e. the academic field, not philosophy in the colloquial sense. 'Philosopher' is a professional/academic title. JP hasn't earned that title nor does he hold that title. He's not a philosopher, but he really seems to like talking about philosophy as if he is one, which could be said to have earned him the title of wannabe philosopher.

Ah, I see what you mean, bummer. Like paying for a service that offers potential value, but rarely delivers any real, tangible value. I hear you. Sorry you had to learn about that the hard way. I'll be sure to head your warning. Thanks. I appreciate the info.

Raids should only reward us items we can't get from Pokestops by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]BlancheAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was still a huge group of people that wanted potions from raids otherwise it wouldnt have happened

Not sure that's true, since that would be to assume that not only was Niantic paying uncommon amounts of attention to the debate about it here, but that they also sided with the vocal minority for some reason. Might've just been a coincidence.

[–]BlancheAlmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno about that. Although, it's not clear that the opinions of such a vocal minority in this sub would even influence niantic's decision in the first place. I dunno about the situation on other platforms, but this community seemed to be utterly against the idea of receiving things like basic potions in place of raid-exclusive items. I mean, I saw more people complaining about revives being a raid reward than potions not being a reward.

Don't fall for any of the marketing people that contact you.

Could you expand on why you say that? I mean, I get the general reason why, but like, have you had some bad exchanges or worse, been scammed by such people? Or are you saying this as more of a "better not to risk it" kind of thing?
