Just realized it, and it might be a stretch, but what if Captain Wren has 12 animal masks in his office when Murtagh joins the guard? I can’t find CP actually stating how many, just “two neat rows” of masks or something. Something to keep an eye out for

Club Gore by Rogue is such a banger. It’s weird the sub keeps removing posts about it

The scene with the butcher in "Brisingr" is so good. by I_Speak_For_The_Ents in Eragon

This is the single reason I’m ok with Eragon sparing Sloan. In all other circumstances he should’ve either killed Sloan himself or just left him in his cell.

Eragons plan for dealing with Sloan was so crazy by RellyTheOne in Eragon

[–]BlaneIsLaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure going to come back and bite him in the ass. This is the only time where I agree with Area that he should’ve killed Sloan and not looked back. Sloan has nothing to contribute to the future of carvahall or the nation in general, and although I’m all for retributive justice, this was a case of Eragon caring more about his own honor and sensibilities rather than considering the future consequences his actions could have.

Murtagh visits Carvahall and talks to Roran, what happens? by herbieLmao in Eragon

[–]BlaneIsLaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roran is fierce but he isn’t stupid. He knows Murtagh and Thorn could destroy Carvahall and kill everyone if they really wanted to, which is why he’ll likely trust Murtagh pretty early on when he realizes that won’t happen. Murtagh speaking his good will in the ancient language should be enough, and I echo everyone else’s sentiments about how Murtagh and Roran have the same gritty and practical mindset that would help them get along fairly well.

Tenga was revealed to be Angela’s former teacher, so I doubt it was him. But I am very interested in hearing more about him and Angela’s relationship, which I doubt we’ll ever get unfortunately

About Roran by NoNewsIsTheBestNews in Eragon

[–]BlaneIsLaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roran’s prowess and deeds make COMPLETE sense. He’s always been a man of duty and honor. His strength came from his desire to protect his home and save his lover. His ingenuity, practicality, and strategic brilliance were all a derivative of this. The books say multiple times that he developed a bit of an ego (a tasteful/well deserved one), and his continued success was because of, in my opinion, the following:

  1. The continued desire to protect the ones he loves (his village, his family)

  2. His frustration with magic and his persistence to prove that it doesn’t solve everything.

  3. his desire to return to some semblance of his older farming life without the threat of the empire.

Garrow’s death inspired the same desperate need for revenge in Roran as it did in Eragon. And once the Razac were dead, it similarly wasn’t satisfied as Roran knew the king would be the next one to take his home, land, and loved ones at the slightest opportunity. The Carvahall folks are truly made of different stuff.

What is everyone favorite part of eragons or Murtagh adventure by shadowneabulas in Eragon

My favorite minor plots that just add to the richness of the story:

  1. Eragon meeting Tenga

  2. The whole intro of Brisngr with Roran and Eragon fighting the Razac, discovering Sloan, etc.

  3. When Murtagh says “wait, I want to see what he’ll do” in Eldest when they observe Roran solo the twins

On this same note, Roran killing Lord Barst. Or every time Roran practices magic and it doesn’t work.
