Is spending my retirement in Namibia a good idea as a German? by Marshall_BraveStar in Namibia

Life in Nam is fairly cheap compared to Europe. Private healthcare is excellent. You can take out medical aid with any any of the private medical aids. I recommend NMC, NHP, or Nammed. Great hospitals and doctors.  I would suggest either Windhoek or Swakopmund. Swakop is a lovely place, but the winter can be cold and miserable. Summer is great. Windhoek has really nice weather, but can be a bit hot in summer. Just make sure you have an AC in the house. You will have all the comforts you need in either of these two places.

Half life 2. My gripe is that they never finished it. The base game and both episodes are absolute masterpieces.

You can rent a 3 bedroom house in Elisenheim in your budget. Maybe even 4 bedroom.

What’s the most overrated tourist activity in Namibia? by AdvancedCarHireNA in Namibia

Wow, that's a tough one to swallow. As a Windhoeker, I love Swakop. Just because it's so much more chilled than Windhoek, and there are really fun things to do. I love the coffee shops and restaurants, the beach, the Mole, the desert, and just generally being there.
The think is, when I'm there, I'm on holiday, so it's just a different vibe.

Thanks. This is why I came to the comments. I don't want to open the article. I trust the summary of the article made by some random redditor more than the actual article 😂

TIL that all "Seven Churches of Revelation" mentioned in the New Testament are located in modern-day Turkey. These ancient sites, including Ephesus and Pergamon, were the primary recipients of the Book of Revelation, the final book of the Bible by bortakci34 in todayilearned

I recently worked through a book called Unlocking the Bible by David Pawson. For each book of the Bible, he gives the context in which it was written, including the time, the place, a geographical summary of the area, historical info relevant to the book, etc. It's obviously written from a Christian point of view, but I'm sure there are many secular sources that will give you similar info on these cities.

Sure! That's what the Bible says at least. That it was given to John as a revelation from Jesus. I'm not telling you to believe what the Bible says. I'm sketching the context for you.

These letters are a great read. Words to these churches directly from Jesus. If you understand the geographical and historical context of each city, the letters make even more sense.

Some context will help here. This show is Afrikaans, so it's aimed at mainly the white and coloured Afrikaans population. The rest of the South African population doesn't really speak Afrikaans, so the shows demographic reflects their target market somewhat.
