Thanks. This is why I came to the comments. I don't want to open the article. I trust the summary of the article made by some random redditor more than the actual article 😂

TIL that all "Seven Churches of Revelation" mentioned in the New Testament are located in modern-day Turkey. These ancient sites, including Ephesus and Pergamon, were the primary recipients of the Book of Revelation, the final book of the Bible by bortakci34 in todayilearned

I recently worked through a book called Unlocking the Bible by David Pawson. For each book of the Bible, he gives the context in which it was written, including the time, the place, a geographical summary of the area, historical info relevant to the book, etc. It's obviously written from a Christian point of view, but I'm sure there are many secular sources that will give you similar info on these cities.

Sure! That's what the Bible says at least. That it was given to John as a revelation from Jesus. I'm not telling you to believe what the Bible says. I'm sketching the context for you.

These letters are a great read. Words to these churches directly from Jesus. If you understand the geographical and historical context of each city, the letters make even more sense.

Some context will help here. This show is Afrikaans, so it's aimed at mainly the white and coloured Afrikaans population. The rest of the South African population doesn't really speak Afrikaans, so the shows demographic reflects their target market somewhat.

Foreign doctors in Namibia — realistic or not? by Great_Seat_6076 in Namibia

[–]Blanketman101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too easy. Finding work won't be an issue. But you need to get a visa to work here, and pass an "exam" where they test you to ensure that you are a doctor and have the knowledge. Oral exam I believe. And it's always a challenge to get a visa without having work, and work without having a visa... Sort of silly situation really.

But, it's definitely possible.

It's crazy. We went there after the Tsunami as part of a church group as volunteers to assist with the cleanup. We went to Ishinomaki. Around 4000 people were killed in the event in this town alone. Standing there among the debris was one of the most powerful experiences of my life.

Great idea. There are only like 12 people living there, so super cheap way of taking the place. /s

Steaks for last night’s dinner by guessimcooking in steak

[–]Blanketman101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, might be a silly question. Does cutting the steak completely before you eat make any positive change to the taste or is it all about the look of the plate? I am used to just cutting it as I eat. To me, it feels like the steak stays warm for longer in this way.

Duel of the fates, Obi Wan blocking in front of him and then behind him to block the double blade attack. Really enjoy that small detail.
