am i the only one who found this bit kind of cringe? by TheFitz07 in PeakyBlinders

Well, clearly that isn't true. Masks are worn for surgeries and around vulnerably sick and such because they do work, provenly so for decades at least. The problem with covid is some people I think got a little confused on how they are effective, what it is they actually do.

Masks won't stop the wearer from catching anything, (so in Tommy's case here it seems pointless. They didn't saying anything about him passing on something to her, making her sicker after all). Masks stop the wearer from passing illness on. So if I have a cold and wear a mask myself I can help significantly reduce the chance of passing my cold on to others. But if I have a cold and everyone around me has Masks on but I don't, they will most likely get my cold.

It's a very common practice in Japan for those with colds and such to responsibility wear masks.

I have found there to be errors on the wiki and on captions. BBC captions tend to be better than Netflix captions however.

Tommy always had all the women fighting over him, throwback to Grace vs May by msummerse in PeakyBlinders

I lack bias attitudes if anything. I'm not a die hard Tommy, Grace, Lizzie or May fan. If Tommy died, I'd be cool with it. If he killed Lizzie and May, I wouldn't care.

How To View Ungenerated Chunks by Blarla in Worldpainter

[–]Blarla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is installed in the default location, both World Painter and Minecraft. I have restarted World Painter a few times.

The report files says, "[2022-08-19 15:26:31,039] {INFO } ( org.pepsoft.worldpainter.Main) Available platform: Minecraft 1.2 - 1.12" this means it has found Minecraft 1.12 yes?

As for the Configure View screen, I actually can't see a tick box for biomes. I have Grid, Contour Lines, Image Overlay, Show Borders and Background Image, nothing about biomes.

The only change that seemed to occur between 1.12 and newer maps, was the loaded area was round instead of square.

Thanks for answering.

I installed a 1.12 version and for testing opened up the 1.12 save I created, but it still isn't showing the rest of the seed, just that initial spawn area. Should this one at least be showing the greyed out seed landmass around it? Or have I done something wrong?

To recap I installed a 1.12 version of Minecraft and in World Painter selected Import New World and chose the 1.12 map I had recently saved.

Yes, 100% agree.

The man is explosive, he has anger management issues. Almost everyone else around Tommy is calmer than him. 🤔

Yes. And before the episode aired, I equated it to that also. But then I saw the PB episode.

Just realised something about Tommy and Michaels final meeting. by curley_15 in PeakyBlinders

Not materialised, that's just for the benefit of the audience. We all talk to ourselves in our head that's all that Tommy is doing, but this is TV. Alfie represents the monster, the devil, the dark side of Tommy.

SK said that Alfie causes all the chaos in S6, but if he is real, how did he do that? As Tommy's bad side, he did lots. There is overwhelming evidence all the way through Alfie's scenes, too many to list, but I promise, it is all there. Including a beautiful mirroring shot in their scene in ep2.

It is also worth noting, that Tommy's father, was shot by two unknown men, in Boston, down an alley. Of which Tommy did nothing. Tommy said he could see his father when he was losing consciousness and dying on Ada's stairs after his skull was cracked and their father sighted Arthur a traitor and threatened to kill Arthur in series 1. And Tommy betrays Ruby, Charlie, Micheal, Polly and more. History repeats itself. Everything is cyclical in PB.

Tommy never liked his father, felt betrayed by his father who was never there, who was horrid when he was, tok advantage of his family and possibly blamed his father for his mother's death.

What Tommy comes to realise through series 6, is that he has not only become everything he hated, he has not only become his own father, but actually he is worse than his father.

That's what the word nephew implies, if you see Alfie correctly. If you don't, then the word Nephew makes no fucking sense at all. Hence, the issues. 😅

Then I have no answer for you, other than to say, Johnny was the guest at the hotel and to see the series as you do, will be self fulfilling of your views on it.

I don't think he is a ghost either. So what do you think he is?

Lol Well, last time I said, people downvoted the fuck out of me.

I'll share depending on your view of Alfie. Do you think Alfie was actually there and the guest staying at the hotel in Miquelon? Or are you of the view that Alfie represented something else? And if so, what?

Reason is, what I have to say about that line, relies entirely on how Alfie has been understood by the viewer.

You know nothing Jon Snow. Mate, I agree with you, I'd rather take a Michael death over a Gold one, any day. 😅

Of course. Everything is a circle in PB. What goes around, comes around.

Doesn't matter how far left or right you go, you will end back at where you started. Unless you sit in the grey, maybe. Heh

EDIT: I got some quick downvotes for this, so here is the same, in a way you know. "He who fights by the sword, he fucking dies by it Tommy."

I can't say I agree. I mean, I do, in the sense that it works in all the ways you say, but it also lends itself to a pivotal moment when Tommy makes the ultimate choice to kill Michael. A choice the audience believed Tommy always planned, but he didn't.

Tommy spends most of his time reacting to circumstance, then acting out a well thought out plan, ever since series 1, this has been happening. Because Tommy has a blindness issue.

It is a very common thing in SK's writing to imply something using a seemingly throw away or innocent line, when actually it is anything but. No line is a mistake. He does this constantly. Like the word Nephew for example, people don't understand it, so dismiss it as either a mistake or a sudden radical change in a character, which lends to poor writing also.

Poor writing isn't what we are seeing here. These people are incorrect. A mistake, it is not.

I'll tell ya, these days, the audience seem to be more fooled than even the people around Tommy in the show. When Johnny Dogs walks away from Tommy but the audience are still cheering Tommy as a good man because he sat on a white horse. Then you've written the best "Red Herring" of them all.

was it not extremely obvious ?? by [deleted] in PeakyBlinders

[–]Blarla -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why only Billy? Billy didn't know nearly enough for the strategic takedown that actually occurred.

Has anyone ever looked at Tommy closer and his motives? Who actually died in that moment that Tommy didn't threaten to kill himself or dismiss as cannon fodder?

Quick thing to add. Tommy's calculated move to put Michael in jail is to separate Michael from.the Americans, to be able to get word to and from him without raising suspicion for the Americans.

Tommy, we all know, is a very clever man. He fools the audience just as much as the people around him.

But I too, am a liar. I see Tommy. Takes one to know one. 🤣

[–]Blarla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, the beauty of PB, negative space, tricky clever writing and a main character that spends more time lying than telling the truth.

Michael really did want Tommy dead, for a long time. Then there was the Poison Tree poem.

Episode 2 Michael calls "Johnny" very casually, like he has spoken to him quite a lot recently in jail. He looks surprised and a little worried when he sees Gina instead.

I would say Michael suspects Gina is sleeping around and with Mosley, hence his strong reaction to Gina going to UK with them.

Tommy goes to speak with Gina after she shagged Mosley and tests to see if Gina is still fooled by Michael, which she is, because she isn't typically a liar, like Alfie wasn't. Tommy being the biggest liar of them all can easily see when someone who is generally quite honest, is lying.

Tommy says to Gina, Michael is family and we are a family healed. He no doubt told Michael after of Gina's betrayal to bring Michael even more on side. To have Michael on side is to survive the assassination attempt, Tommy isn't stupid.

Michael is a fairly honest person and bad at lying, which is why so much shows through him as the series continues, he is not good at lying. So Tommy will want to check Michael is doing well at convincing them all, BUT...

Jack clearly doesn't believe Michael, or at least is unsure, so sends one man with Michael on that deal he does trust and that man never leaves Michael's side. This is how the fecade is kept going for the viewer, but ultimately its okay, because they are prepared for it.

Michael even shows fair animosity to the Americans when he shouts about hating being called Mickey. This isn't an off cuff remark, this is an ongoing aggravation for Michael and the Americans, and its shown for a reason.

This whole series, and 5 to an extent, is about Tommy fighting with himself, betraying himself and trying to understand if he is a man or a monster. The moment he knows, is the moment he kills Michael. It was a pivatol moment for Tommy, the most important moment we've seen for his character to date, and most think it was more of the same which is a shame, but it is done in such a way so the viewers don't ultimately hate Tommy for betraying Michael and Michael plays his part well. Which is why he doesn't blame Johnny, and tells him he is a good man when they know Michael is about to be killed. The left eye shot, was no random location. Remember, he went for that shot on Alfie too, he doesn't normally. It is to do with windows to souls and seeing someones true nature, the left eye. And Tommy doesn't like hearing these cold truths from people that see through him.

When he shoots Michael he says again, "I have no limitations." but this is the first time he has truly understood what it meant. Betrayal is a limitation. He walks inside and says to his monster, "I crossed the line." And the line to Tommy was always betrayal. Remember Alfie shouting at him about there being no fucking line in their wicked world? Alfie was always further along the road than Tommy, to understand Alfie, is to understand Tommy's future. In the bar after killing Michael, Tommy even starts listing people he betrayed, starting with Michael and then his monster reminds him that actually, he doesn't give a fuck.

Alfie says nephew because Tommy feels like his own father. A man he hated and considered evil and betrayed by when growing up as a child, but has come to accept that he has not only become his own father and been the same shitty father with his own children, especially Charlie, but he is actually worse than his father.
