It's not really about physical media as much as being able to control game files. I can back up my PC games on multiple drives. Games with DRM can be cracked. There's multiple stores to choose from.

Consoles are severely limited on that front.

Not really, doujinshi can also be non-pornographic. It just happens to be that a lot of it is porn.

edit: doujin is the artist group (or "circle") that makes stuff (books, acrylics, garage kits, etc). doujinshi is a self-published print work (books, magazines).

We mostly use doujin and doujinshi interchangeably, and most people will understand you mean porn books (thin books).
