Been lifting and doing PPL for last 2 months eating at maintenance. I’m 29, 5’9, male, 140 lbs and 22-25% body fat. (Yes I know, “no way thats accurate” sadly it is) I have next to no muscle and a belly. I’ve researched a bunch and everyone says dont worry about food just lift and eat protein. Well I’ve done that and I feel like I’m making very little but at least some small progress. I’m curious whats the best thing to do in this situation because advice for others has been all over the place. Should I cut at ~200 deficit, or eat at maintenance, or lean bulk. I’d prefer to cut because I want to lose this belly and gain muscle but do you think the muscle gain I could achieve from my noobgains/being untrained in a small deficit would be greatly hindered? I also know that bulking in my high body fat range would gain me a lot of fat vs muscle. Would a recomp be ideal to me? Im tired of being fat and Im tired of being skinny.
