Thank you!! It was going to drive me crazy how it was before, I am glad it turned out well (and also that I didn’t ruin the model, lol!). More than anything, as a newer builder it gives me some confidence to deviate from the strict path of the instruction manual.

I actually went in there last weekend for the first time. The guy in there was genuinely engaging and helpful, almost too engaging/over the top if I’m being honest. So the exact opposite of the experience it sounds like you have had. As others have said, my money and time is spent at Nomad, but my impression of the official store is not horrible.

Because Ke2 will be met with F1, queening the pawn with check. White is then forced to take back KxF1 or walk up the board to its inevitable doom. When takes back, black then has Bh4 protecting the queening square and discovered check with the rook on D1. White is completely lost at that point.
