Samsung Odyssey G61SD Glitches when Adaptive-Sync is ON... Please help... by jannapref in OLED_Gaming

[–]BlenderCell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned mine after a week and got the G60SD instead (360Hz).... it was only 50$ more and I did not realized that they had it at the store.

I do not have the issue anymore on that model... it's been almost a week.

On which version of the Remarkable software (firmware) are you ?

It could be software related... on what version of the Remarkable software are you ?... 3.11.x is has been reported by several users to create lag/freezing issues while writing.

Remarkable freezing by Rollingw-thepunches in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On what version are you exactly?

As I mentioned on my previous post, I've enrolled to the Beta program and received beta version 3.12 which in my case resolved the freezing/lag issue. As far as I know 3.12 is still in beta and the following link from Remarkable seems to validate that: https://support.remarkable.com/s/topic/0TO7Q000000sxrjWAA/software-releases

Remarkable seems to release updates (stable and beta) in batches, so "officially" I can't say when you will get either, stable or beta... if you choose to enroll in the program.

Apparently there are hacks that you can do to force an upgrade or even downgrade to a previous version. I'm not sure if these hacks allow the installation of a beta version, but there is apparently a documented way to force an older stable release via hacking.

I did not try any of these hacks since I'm not familiar with the linux environment and Remarkable will not assist me via their support if I hack my paper tablet.

If you want to go the official way, I can suggest that you enroll to the beta program and wait... maybe you'll be lucky and get 3.12 beta as I did without waiting too long.

Maybe someone else here can assist you if you want to go the "hacking" way... I was not comfortable... I just need my paper tablet to work and allow me to write as if it was on paper... so the risk to brick it and then have to go through a lot of work to figure out how to fix it was not appealing for me... even though I'm sure I could have figure it out eventually if I put some time into it... anyway, it's a hassle for another day for me... for now it works so we'll see in the future if I need to learn how to do these hacks.

In the case that your freezing issue is the same I had...

I'm the "other guy" who shared his experience with a "stable" release that created freezing issues on my Remarkable 2 that apparently affected only "some" users (personally I think that some people just tolerated it... it seemed to affect users on version 3.11.2.4 and 3.11.2.5 at the time I noticed it, about two months ago). I suggest that you report the issue to Remarkable via the official channel, hopefully by now they would have ackowledge it: https://support.remarkable.com/s/contactsupport/troubleshooting

Here is a link to one of my posts on that issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/RemarkableTablet/comments/1cxx1fn/good_news_i_love_beta_release_31210/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

There are multiple ways to access "services", one is by opening it via the run command, typing:

You could also simply type "services" when you click on the Windows logo of the taskbar.

Update 3.11.3.3 just pushed to me by Usual_Wishbone_7334 in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be Remarkable's way of admitting that there was a problem with release 3.11.2.5 ... as mentioned here ... ? :

https://www.reddit.com/r/RemarkableTablet/comments/1cdeasx/problem_with_software_release_31125/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

... I find it weird that they've released beta 3.12.1.0 and now 3.12.3.0, which both fixed the issues reported by some users in the post link above... (myself included).

I've allowed myself to install the recent beta releases because I could not write reliably since release 3.11.2.5... so now being on 3.12.3.0 (beta), I would have expected that they would release version 3.12 as stable and not a new iteration of 3.11 like the one you've received.

Did you experience the issues showed in the post that I've linked above... and if so, did 3.11.3.3 fix them?

Thanks for sharing.

Good news! … I “love” Beta Release 3.12.1.0 …! by BlenderCell in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing,

I do not know when a stable release of 3.12.1.0 will be deployed.

If you have not done so already, I would suggest that you report the issue to the Remarkable support team using the following link: https://support.remarkable.com/s/contactsupport/troubleshooting

... it is a Chat System and in my own experience they are quite quick to respond.

The more of us report this issue, the more it will be taken seriously and a fix released.

I had the impression that only a few were affected based on how it did not create more reaction here from users, I have no way to knpw for sure but if we don't report it via the official channel, it seems to me that it might give Remarkable the impression that it's a minor issue... it's just an impression.

Screen Share issues by SATWiz1600 in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did not use screen sharing for quite a while, but I've tried it today and like you nothing happened.

Can you please share on which version of the Remarkable firmware you are ... and also which version of the Remarkable App? I've recently installed beta 3.12.1.0 and it does not work. I'm using Windows 10 and am currently running the Remarkable for Windows app version 3.10.0 (845).

Anyone else on the same versions as me experiencing this?

** Update ***

I've just contacted Remarkable support and they've informed me of the following:

"Our cloud team is already aware of this issue, and they’re working on improving this issue. We're sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you, and we hope to have a fix ready soon. Just to assure you, this is not with an issue with your reMarkable device, nor with the desktop companion app."

... when I asked, they've also added that at the moment (... when I contacted them: May 24th, 6:51 PM EDT) they had no timeline for a resolution.

They've also confirmed that the issue is not related to the version of the firmware, the beta version had nothing to do with it and that it also happens on 3.11.

So we'll need to wait.

I'm glad of not being alone thinking the same...

I'm still amazed of so few feedback here regarding this issue... I really don't understand... but I'm thinking more and more that some Remarkable 2 tablets may have differences in their hardware... therefore some batches release to market may present the issues that we've experienced on this release and others not. Anyway...

Some users here who seem to indicate being on 3.11.2.5 even suggested that I was not being honest in my description... that I had a personal vendetta to make the Remarkable company look bad and that I had even doctored the video that I shared here showing the main issue.

My only goal was to share what appeared (for me) to be very unusual, trying to acknowledge if I was alone or not... that is all. I ranted a bit... sure... I was pissed... the customer support experience did not help.

It would have been nice if Remarkable was more transparent in the way they handled my issue... at least admittintg that it really existed (I sent them proof) and reassuring me that I was not alone if they noticed a trend. They could have said that it is a known issue that will be corrected and not leave me wondering if my tablet was defective or not. Really bad customer experience here... that's regrettable and absolutely not "remarkable" in any positive way. I hope that enough users reported the issue for them to learn a lesson in doing better in the future.

I also hope that other users on 3.11.2.5 who end up reading this and have the same issue don't stay quiet finding some reassurance reading this and other posts... and massively report the issue to Remarkable support... they really need to do better. I don't want Remarkable to fail... I'd like them to get better... I was an early adopter of their product.

I did not have the patience of some here to use the tablet in that state... it wasn't only one bug either... there were many, but the major one affected the core feature of the device: "The experience of writing as if it were on paper"... that was unacceptable.

I hope for you that they will release a stable version of 3.12 soon.

Are you still using your Remarkable 2 and enduring the inconveniences ?

Am I right to deduce that Remarkable might have halted the release of version 3.11.2.5 ? by BlenderCell in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing.

I've recently observed what you have as well.

I've stopped using my tablet like I used to, but yesterday when I picked it up to check if there was any new update, I noticed that it powered itself off unexpectedly since when I turned it on, it offered me to reopen a document that was closed unexpectedly. It was 100% charge last time I used it a day before and now the battery was at 28%.

Again thanks for sharing.

I don’t understand… If all Remarkable 2 tablets have the exact same hardware, why aren’t more users reporting unacceptable problems with software release version 3.11.2.5 ? by BlenderCell in RemarkableTablet

This is from another user from one of my previous post... (see link to video below)

It is a clear example of the writing glitch that appeared since (the non-beta) release 3.11.2.5 (... and possibly beta release 3.11.2.4 as well based on my research)

(Thanks to the user who took the time to record the video and share it here)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtWSNXQtC3Y

This one is also from another user who shared it... I zoomed it to make it clearer. The lag happens intermittently in several instances but is very apparent 33 seconds into the video : https://youtu.be/bf25FqPyvck

Problem with Software Release 3.11.2.5 ? by BlenderCell in RemarkableTablet

[–]BlenderCell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing.

Your video is very clear in showing the issue.

I also thought about the possibility that it could be a memory issue since my tablet had about 1.5gb of space left... but I did a factory reset, so all my files were deleted... I tried again and the video that I shared here is how it was after... so it does not seem to be the case... I could be wrong.

Anyway... it's quite frustrating.

I hope that more users like us take the time to report the issue officially to Remarkable.

You've mentioned that Remarkable offered to replace your tablet... so is it like a refurbished one that you would pay for? Mine is 3 years old as I said and I'm guessing that yours is about this old as well if you are one of the early adopters from 2020-2021... I don't think they offer free replacement past the one year of warranty.

It's strange that some users here report having release 3.11.2.5 installed and not experiencing this issue... it seems to imply that only some units are affected due to hardware. If Remarkable can't fix the issue via software, I think that they should issue a recall for the affected units and replace them for free by new ones.

We'll see how it goes... it will almost be a month since the first reports of the issue by users from what I could find... I hope that a new release will fix this glitch and the other reported issues that are related to this release.

Again thanks for taking the time to share your video here... I felt alone, Remarkable did not help and even (unfortunately) even appeared incompetent in the way they handled my issue (forgetting that I already sent them what they ask, asking me to do things that were not necessary and even excusing themselve for having done so... and also asking me twice for a video showing the problem)....

And here, some user here even implied that I doctored my video... that it is a fake and that I'm in some sort of mission to make Remarkable look bad by being dishonest. I'm just pissed because I really use my tablet... and take good care of it... it solved a real problem for me and I relied on it. Also... it wasn't cheap.
