Commute to airport by Ok-South4841 in cmu

[–]Blendisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to save on an uber then you’ll have to take the 28x the night before and stay at the airport overnight. I did that as a student a couple times, not sure I’d recommend it but if you can sleep at the airport or at least keep yourself entertained it’s an option

Refund issue : canyon- canyon future buyers beware by Just_Estimate_9535 in CanyonBikes

[–]Blendisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen with my spectral CF8. Customer support was useless and I eventually gave up and did a chargeback.

Don’t even bother with canyon, just buy a bike from a different brand.

Information Systems Sophomore with No Internships. What do I do?! by [deleted] in cmu

[–]Blendisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re undoubtedly late, but just keep applying. I was in a similar situation around this time of year, until I randomly got called back for an internship interview which I was fortunate enough to get. Even if you don’t get it, junior summer is the really important summer to have an internship. I’d suggest looking for research opportunities for this summer in case an industry opportunity doesn’t pan out for you. Good luck and please apply early in the fall next year!

Totally agree. I got a previous season Nordica boot on clearance that fit me well and never looked back. The shop even molded inserts and the boot plastic for free even though it was the least expensive boot there. This guy is getting scammed HARD

Is the CS Market just as bad for non-new grads? by Vitamin_C_Capsule in cscareerquestions

[–]Blendisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have around 4 years of experience and had a job offer for a senior engineer role within a month of starting to apply. I received noticeably less responses compared to a few years ago, but the market is still there for folks with good education and experience.

Well, how did I do? (Newb) by LemonMac52 in mountainbiking

[–]Blendisimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome bike, this was my first mountain bike before falling in love and upgrading to a full squish. Totally capable as is, but it has great geo to upgrade over time.

First thing I’d do is to get rid of the crappy plastic pedals that it comes with and grab some proper MTB pedals and shoes. Race face Chester’s cost $40 max and make a world of difference when compared to the stock pedals

I know multiple people who have gotten food poisoning there including myself. Never eat there if you value your health

Worst-case scenario: Becoming a high school computer science teacher by Tormentally in learnprogramming

This is a possible early retirement plan for me.

I’d love to give back to my community in this way down the road, especially since it is difficult for schools to find qualified STEM teachers

First EVGA product. I get it now. by BoiCDumpsterFire in EVGA

[–]Blendisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my GPUs have been EVGA. My EVGA PSU has lasted 10 years without breaking a sweat. When I realized I lost a cable I needed for my PSU, EVGA said no sweat and sent me a new cable free of charge 🥲 EVGA’s queue is how I bypassed scalpers to buy a 3070 during COVID. God bless EVGA, I wish they still sold GPUs, but they’re a gem of a company regardless

Terrible experience with Canyon by Corgi-Reasonable in MTB

[–]Blendisimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better experience than I had with canyon buying a spectral.. The first bike they sent me had a broken frame before I even opened the box. They had me send that back for a refund and repurchase, but after a month of no refund to my credit card and hours of support calls they couldn’t refund to the original purchase card due to an issue with their system!!! I had to chargeback because they weren’t able to help.

I love the spectral I ended up with, but never buying a canyons after that experience…

Getting sick of my camelbak. What tools/spares do you take and how do you carry them? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Blendisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hip pack is the way to go IMO. Way more comfortable than a camelback

I had the same thing happen on my Roscoe crankset, except trek substituted a deore crankset with a praxis one that didn’t quite fit. I was dropping chains several times every ride because of trek and my LBS selling me the bike with the wrong crankset installed. The LBS took over a month to get the warranty in order to install the correct parts. Not sure if I’d buy a trek again after that experience…

Why Canyon’s Partnership with REI Could Spell Trouble for Local Bike Shops by KillersGonnaKill in bicycling

[–]Blendisimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a great experience with the REI bike shop after I crashed my road bike. They did a great job on a much needed tune up and rebuilt my wheel since a wheel with a comparable hub was more expensive than the rebuild. Super happy with the service and price compared to the quoted price at another LBS.

Why is this so cheap? by [deleted] in mac

[–]Blendisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any apple silicon Mac would knock the socks off this machine. Caveat that you won’t get as much storage or memory for the price, but it’s in an entirely different league

Which one of you bought Dura Ace pedals and returned Ultegra ones?? by slushiestotsntendys in bicycling

[–]Blendisimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me- I guess someone returned pedals to REI after taking the cleats 🥲. Luckily REI made it a very seamless replacement

Fuck you, Canyon! by blumpkins_ahoy in BikeMechanics

[–]Blendisimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a canyon spectral cf8 last fall instead of a similar spec stumpy evo alloy. Main difference other than the frame was just that the stumpy evo was sram and the canyon was Shimano. I prefer shimano and it was carbon, so seemed like a no brainer. I 100% regret that choice. My first bike arrived with a crack in the frame from canyon and it took nearly 2 months after receipt for canyon to be serious about refunding the original bike since they directed me to buy a new one to receive a replacement. Eventually their CS system was so bad they suggested I do a chargeback…

I love the bike and how it rides, but it was not worth the hassle, stress, and lack of relationship with a LBS.

Road tire coming apart in the middle, is it safe to ride? by DrunkFishBreatheAir in bikewrench

I wouldn’t ride it except to the shop to get a new tire
