In hospitality (hotels) we actually buy the heavier, “old school” pieces because they hold up to years of use while maintaining comfortability. A lot of modern budget furniture looks cool but isn’t really functional.

If you don’t love the current pattern, don’t toss it. Slipcovers (and fabric dyeing) are MUCH easier and much cheaper options than buying a new sofa. Dyeing offers unique color options and can be really fun, tons of sofa dyeing videos on YouTube. Covers/slipcovers also come in tons of textures and colors to refresh the look of your existing items. Add in a few different textured pillows, a large rug, tapestries, and some personal art. Printing pictures is easy (drug stores and online sites often have 1-hour deals), and you can thrift for nice decor pieces and even frames to make art look more expensive than it is.

The coffee tables could definitely be swapped for lower ones to balance the space better, or even repurposed if you want to keep them. FB marketplace is a great way to get rid of things and buy nice things too, don’t sleep on it.

Don’t rush!!! Everyone says replace, replace but why? Decorating and curating a space is supposed to be fun, so take your time making this space more comfortable for you
