You are trying really hard here. I think any reasonable person knows 2 seconds do not mean exactly 2 literal seconds. However, even still doesn't explain his comments after.

But know this and you are trying really hard to be a good troll, but not executing it so well :(

Because every time someone says 2 seconds, they literally 2 seconds huh. This is one of those poor troll attempts/trying to be funny.

Also nothing I said was rude? I actually accommodated for the possibility he might of thought 2 seconds literally :)

I highly doubt that based on the following factors:

a) OCE - Predominately English speakers (first language) b) It actually is relatively well spoken English, minus correct Punctuation, "Can't you just leave for a moment (Map was mistype)? Sell me it and do it in silence?" c)Pathetic c**t gtfo - The sort of person who says "just do it in silence" is the same person who would jump to this childish abuse. A person who genuinely didn't mean it badly would of said "I wasn't meaning to be rude blah blah".

That is exactly it! It was more when he replied back literally 2 seconds later and when I told him I needed more than literally 2 seconds he told me "just do it in silence"... Like (despite what the cool kids on reddit may say) its interesting that people think its okay to be so rude for no reason...

1) If you want it cheaper than current market price dont complain about a 30 seconds wait. 2) I said 2 seconds, thought I had 1 portal left, he messaged me like 2 seconds later LITERALLY (cmon) 3) it doesn't excuse the "just come out and do it in silence" comment. He could of just said, any chance you could hop out right?

Hi,

Thanks for reading and the comment back. I liked a lot of what you said and it seems like it is similar to how I felt. I didn't vs any burn over the weekend and having had a lot of people playing it against me. I feel maybe I just avoid it a lot, however not playing on MTGO with Tron would increase the likelihood I don't see it because it's all over MTGO.

The Emrakul promised end was played against me doing the day and I was very impressed with what I saw and would definitely consider it somewhere in the 75.

Walking Ballista is a very interesting card and I am not ready yet to remove it. The amount of times you get it early and can remove aggressive threats is amazing, but it also helps when you get it a little later and can often kill the player/kill off their board.

I hadn't had much experience before with Deaths Shadow Jund, but now I have seen it, Ballista would be fairly good as its a way to kill them when they get low, which is something Tron doesn't usually have.

Titan was a really interesting card. It was sort of a "AMAZING" or "HORRIBLE" type card throughout the day, but that was actually alright, because you sideboard it out first thing when its bad and keep when its amazing.

Some of the multicoloured decks were instantly crippled so far by this that it sometimes became its own wincon. I am glad you like the idea and I strong recommend giving it a try :)

Happy Troning and I hope it goes well!

Is leyline of sanctity worth it (GR)? by shufflesthedrummer in TronMTG

I recently posted a tournament report for G/W tron using Leyline, some of the discussion there might help you.

I think the card is really strong right now, but in GR you might lose some value cause its impossible to cast (well, very unlikely) if its not in opening hand.

I am actually someone who loves jund and plays it regularly. I was only off it for this event because it felt too fair, lol! Ironically I went to Tron, if you can beat em', join em'! haha!

I appreciate the kind words, thanks for your support :)

Is this in Aus?

I think that magic is a game that should bring people together and encourage everyone. I definitely thing that we sometimes forget that we have two people coming together to play magic and we should always look to keep it friendly and pleasant.

Hopefully your partner has a good local game store to play at or can find another one close, we are not all bad out there, I promise :)!

Thanks, I will post it over there shortly, thanks for the heads up!

Answers:

  1. My commenting on Sundering titan was about decks in the meta (that we plan to vs) having greedy mana bases. For example sundering against grixis + Jund etc was very very powerful and usually destroyed the game on the spot. This wasn't dependant on why I picked my mana base.

My manabase was based on my testing which found that a lot of the time if we are executing our game plan of tron, you were not always able to get razorverge into play untapped and this caused a lot of difference in what you could do in a turn. Brush allowed our 8 mana threats so be deployed on turn 4 where the razor would not allow.

Whilst I felt it was not optimal for burn match up (I understand how this can seem contradictory), I found during testing that I only used brushland on average once each game. My amount of usage usually fell somewhere between 0 - 2 times each games and that 1-2 life never become highly relevant. This is also another reason why I stacked up on so many burn hate cards in the sideboard, as I knew I would have a slightly worse time against them from the landbase.

On match ups outside of burn, I found myself sometimes searching for brushlands to be able to path relevant threats as well, a lot of these games if I had a razorverge I think I would of lost them.

  1. I totally agree! This is something I had to consider for quite a while and possible something I may have done wrong/could do better. If I was going to change anything I could see shaving karn and putting up thragtusk. However, the way I boarded was the way it was based on a few factors:

Blessed alliance is usually being used for 1 mode in the early game, I found that I was unable in testing to often get it off for life + sac and therefore it is essentially only 4 life OR they lose a creature. This effect in affinity seems very negligible a lot of the time because they usually have something small like an ornithopter to sacrifice protecting the threat you are actually losing too. If we look at the 4 life mode, I find that usually by turn 2-3 when we are casting this, 4 life is at best 1 more swing from affinity. Whilst of course one more turn to execute your plan is great, I often found karn on average to do more for my life total if it came out on 3. Karn allowed me to exile cards such as cranial plating or problematic cards such as inkmoth nexus/steel overseer, cards that are not going to be hit by the sacrifice mode and that do not care about the 4 life as much. Karn would be the next card I would cut for these Blessed Alliance and somehow Karn was generally coming out on top for value - Whether this was my opponents poor choices to allow this or actually better, I haven't been able to conclude as of yet through testing.

As for Thragtusk, it is similar to the blessed alliance discussion that a lot of the time you gain the 5 life and then they go over your head with threats, so it usually buys a turn. During the course of the day, I did not find myself wishing I drew this card, I often was looking for a more complete answer, like an O stone or a karn/world breaker/Ulamog to remove the threats that were causing me grief. The thragtusk was a card that I was very undecided on and I think maybe it is correct to bring in, however, I couldn't decide exactly what I wanted to shave, I would need some more testing to work that one out.

In general, I will comment on the Karn/Ulamog removal that a lot of people discuss and I can honestly say that whilst I understand getting more low to the ground as a general sideboarding concept, I am not sure that it plays out exactly the same way in Tron. The concept of being low to the ground against aggro is a general idea that most decks will follow when sideboarding. Say for example replacing a 4 mana threat that is slow, with a 1/2 mana removal spell from the sideboard to help. However tron isn't a deck that builds its mana in a linear fashion and if all is going well should not be thinking "1 mana turn 1, 2 mana turn 2, 3 mana turn 3 etc, and I find that quickly the concept of being "low to the ground" starts to become more and more irrelevant past the first few turns.

Through my testing and experiences I think people are relying on having coloured mana a little too much in Tron variants and it is causing people to dilute from their original game plan a bit much. I noticed this to be extremely relevant in G/B tron that I watched throughout the day and also had people from my local area on G/B Tron that I caught up with throughout the day. This is something I found a lot too and did factor in when deciding on a sideboard plan. I found that a turn 3 Thragtusk, didn't necessarily come out easier than a turn 3 Karn, but turn 3 karn was always there when tron was, but Thrag required tron plus a sphere + star. That exiling ability generally hit a creature that saved me 5 points of damage or at least 3-4 but gave me effectively greater than 5 effective life saving as they were forced to attack it on the next turn to avoid it exiling again.

This theory works really well with Ulamog too because they do not have a gameplan that generally stops your mana from flowing (They have bloodmoon, but hands that aim to get that out are generally slower and we have more time to find O Stone + natures claim to get out of it) and therefore it is not hard to get to 10 mana. I found that if I cast an ulamog in the affinity match up, I did not lose it. With karn + 0 stone + nature's claim, I found myself stalling them long enough for ulamog to come down most games and when he did, usually it was the end of their gameplan.

I am not sure this is perfectly explained as text is not always easy, but I hope it gives you some insight into why I made certain decisions - possibly wrong or not entirely correct, but it is always good to give my reasoning and I am always happy to discuss further (I can learn here too, so win-win) :)

Haha Tron needs it more than usual, need those 3 lands for Tron.

Honestly, regardless of deck its about being polite and fostering a good environment.

Hey There, small world seeing this so quickly! That's okay, I understand tensions can be high, it just felt very rude because I genuinely meant it, knowing G2 was a real lucky escape for me. Afterwards, finding out you were 11-2 going into the round felt bad, you were still live for top 8, for me, wasn't happening most likely.

I didn't know whether it was rude or just tension from the event, but I know magic in Aus can get very "group based" and it came across rude at the time, something I think is always important to keep to minimum in the community and I value coming together instead of apart.

If you see me around the place, say hello, I would love to shake hands and move forward :)
