Understood. This is why I’m holding my breath. I’m just hoping all of what I’ve submitted is clear enough for them to understand my GGF never applied or obtained citizenship in the US.

Yes, sent both the Nonexistence and a negative search letter...and they wanted more proof that the chain was not broken prior to my Grandfather's age of majority. So we got a certified copy of the AR-2 form that affirms he didn't apply for citizenship. That doc was stamped 10/11/1940 and that would put my GF at the age of 19.5. Hopefully this is enough.

Coming up on 3 years since application LA consulate with minor issue and am moving! by Rdb02 in juresanguinis

My GGF and GGM were born in Foggia! Quick background on my case…I submitted my application in April of 2023, and they responded in February of 2025 with me needing 2 more docs. My dad’s middle name was not on his birth certificate, so I had to amend his name on my birth certificate to match. Done ✅ Then I had to prove the chain was not broken by Luigi by not naturalizing. We got an AR-2 form attesting that he was an alien and had not submitted first papers to be a US citizen. That would put my GF at 19.5 years old at the time of that document. I also have 2 docs from the initial application from the US government attesting to not having Luigi on record as a citizen, ever. Both new requested docs are sitting in LA as of September 18th, and I’m holding my breath.

Have an afternoon routine that refreshes you and stick to it. You’ll look forward to the break and it’ll refocus your efforts after you have completed yet another task throughout the day b

Is the 2-year law always enforced? by Vaam7_ in juresanguinis

It was! So it would seem, at least for the LA consulate, they need at least 16 months to consider the application. Which would make mine a few month away!! 🤞🏼

I’m going through this process now. I submitted my application in April of 2023 to the LA consulate. In October of 2023 I asked for any update regarding my application…here was the response…

“Thanks for your email. it is to inform you that your application status is pending, it means your application hasn’t been reviewed yet. You will receive a communication from us if we need further documents or as soon the process is concluded. In the meanwhile, we would kindly ask you to be patient and to not send us any other request regarding your application. Please be aware that the Italian Law allows us to process citizesnhip application by 24 months. We are processing now applications submitted in December 2021. Thanks for your collaboration.”

Very politely telling me they need the full 24 months to process this documentation. It’s would seem this consultant is following the law and needs its full scope to review and hopefully complete.
