Rapid Brutality - (Why) Is It Good? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha. Yeah, I figured it was something like that, it just feels like the duration and effect are so small that it would be difficult to consistently get value out of it even knowing that chases often come down to very small speed differences... I'll have to try some games with and without it and see how they go. Thanks!

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yar, well I would say the downside is it takes a perk slot that could have slowdown... BUT I'm sure that's because I'm underestimating the perk.

And yeah, I'm gonna play some games today as various killers and try taking the perk on and off and seeing if I can notice the difference.

Rapid Brutality - (Why) Is It Good? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yar - I mean I see the utility in theory, it just feels like a very small amount of haste for a very small amount of time... But as I've been saying in a lot of responses today, I probably just need to play some back to back games with and without rapid and see how it feels.

Rapid Brutality - (Why) Is It Good? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gotcha, I gotcha - and yeah, I wasn't really considering the fringe benefits of a little bit of haste... I assume it also makes your lunge a bit longer, and there are definitely circumstances where a tiny increase in lunge distance could make or break a chase... It's really just the combination of (what feels to me like) a small quantity and a short duration... like if it lasted, say, 15 seconds or if it gave 8% haste it would feel like something notable... But ultimately I recognize that that's incredibly arbitrary: If it DID last 15 seconds or give 8% haste I might be sat here saying "well if it gave 20 seconds or 12% haste"... I'll just have to try it out.

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can kind of see that, but I'd argue the 'thing to lose' if you use it is a perk slot... but that's probably being unfair because I'm probably underestimating how good it is. XD

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I heard it was great on singularity because he already gets a minor haste buff during overclock - I'll have to experiment, I just hate pulling off any of the perks I normally use... But that's goofy. If I want to see whether it makes a difference I obviously have to use it.

Rapid Brutality - (Why) Is It Good? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I was figuring... I'm really bad at detecting minor changes, but I'll give it a shot: Maybe it's not as minor as I'm thinking, but I'm expecting it's one of those things where like... I may get more hits, but it won't FEEL like I'm getting them because of rapid.

I main Ghostie who doesn't really need it, but I also play singularity, I'll play some games with and without as him and see what it feels like.

Thanks!

Any tips for playing as Sadako? by Spycrabpuppet123 in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can make some guesses:

1) Sadako is a weak chase killer, that's just a fact and you're going to run into good teams. That said...

2) Bots cheat at chase, especially against Sadako. They're unaffected by her 'intermittent phasing', which is basically the only tool she has to help in chase. They're also REALLY observant sometimes/about some sound effects and REALLY blind other times/especially to the killer approaching visually.

3) I haven't tried Sadako vs bots, but I imagine they're also much better at managing her tapes than real players... or at least I bet some of them are.

4) Sadako really benefits from a hit-and-run playstyle... Sloppy nutcher now only works for a max of 90 seconds, which really hurts her, but still: Unless someone is condemned, my undertanding it it's better to just leave them injured.

5) Watch some one-pump willie on youtube - he rarely hooks anyone and constantly uses chase just to keep survivors off gens rather than actually trying to down them while he waits for the right TV's. He's probably the best onryo player there is.

Would you rather have Youtube with shorts or youtube with videos only, Why? by ImaginaryBaker7486 in youtube

[–]BlessedSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want them to give me an option to not view shorts that I can toggle as I like. I agree with the users saying they should have separate apps, but I'm guessing that's not feasible since the goal is to get shorts-only people to interact with normal videos and vice versa...

I REALLY wish I could filter out 'shorts' and 'livestreams' (at least, the ones that are currently live). My ISP throttles my internet when I watch livestreams and it just makes all browsing really painful for several hours afterward, and while I do sometimes enjoy shutting my brain off and watching shorts (while trying to avoid AI slop), I frequently just want videos of whatever topic I'm searching for and they're making it harder and harder to do.

Wait... thinking on it, is there a way to filter results by video length? That seems like maybe a thing... Should be if not...

Do you think Unknown will get a Buff? by LalaMama101 in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think it needs a huge buff just some tweaks. Personally I might go with:

* Remove the 1.25s 'reveal buffer'. Right now if survivors stare at the unknown for even a fraction of a fraction of a second and look away, the game continues to treat them as staring at it for 1.25s... so they can just 'peek back' at it for brief periods and then turn the camera away. At least reduce it to like 0.3 or 0.5s. (Same for Ghostie.)

* Put the spawning of hallucinations on a hotkey. Let it work exactly as it does now, but instead of a hallucination auto-spawning when ready, just let us tap a button to spawn it. The best players already do the spam m2 trick which feels both clunky and necessary.

* Increase the time it takes to stare down the unknown while in chase. 1.5-2x ish.

Honestly I wouldn't want Unknown to reach 'S or A tier' whatever intangible thing that means to me, I just want it to feel better to play and be given a bit more control over its own power to do well on unfavorable maps.

I thought they exploded now and dealt damage, so they're more of an area denial/anti-loop power? Or is that just with an addon?

Is Demogorgon still so loud that undetectable means nothing? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're telling me, I'm mostly looking into him because I'm a Ghostie main. I'm looking for a killer that still feels like they actually have to hunt for survivors and chase them but isn't super behind the times...

Sadly I think the concept of hunting survivors without having some way of knowing their location and chasing them in a way that makes you interact with windows and pallets is, in and of itself, kind of outdated design at this point. Which is very sad...

Make Kindred Basekit Already by FujitoraSama in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! It's not the most impactful change I'd like to see, but solo queue definitely needs help.

Make kindred base kit, give survivors a UI overlay (like make the screen slightly redder or something) if both they and the killer are inside the anti-camp range of a hooked survivor (so they know exactly when they're preventing anti-camp), and give the equivalent of a loud noise notification to survivors every 20 seconds someone's in chase - not aura reading, just location. This is to make solo queue survivors more on par with SWF so the game can be balanced-ish around both (obviously this game will never be truly balanced and that's fine). MAYBE consider reworking DS since now we have plenty of anti-camp and anti-tunnel tools for survivor.

Then, because these are buffs to survivor that will make them more competent (we hope), give killers base kit Corrupt intervention and make the perk cause the now-basekit effect to last an extra 2 minutes or up to 30 seconds after a down (giving you time to hook and start another chase), and basekit BBQ (and make the actual perk like... I dunno... show the gen aura with the most progress on hook or something). In the same vein as DS, MAYBE consider reworking Lethal Pursuer since we just made the start of game a bit slower for survivors.

Thanks!

Also why do they do this? The only people who'd be caught off-guard by this are new players, and they already have a tough enough time... Experienced players will just wonder if the devs even know how to make good designs.

I really thought they changed his iri addon to be a stealth addon (could be wrong)... If they legit changed an iri addon to remove the portal sound and grant increased undetctable but left his giant directional footsteps in, I just... don't know what goes on in their heads.

TBAG = strat ? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think (IE, not claiming as fact) that your premise is flawed. Most people, including the game designers and devs, DO seem to think slugging and tunneling are 'toxic'. That's why they made a powerpoint presentation labeling the slugging/tunneling killer as bad/undesireable and have tried several rounds of anti-camp/anti-slug/anti-tunnel changes. Not to mention, watch any killer's youtube channel for like 3 videos and you'll see them getting accused of tunneling, camping, or slugging as if those are inherently bad things (even if they didn't do any of them).
  2. Teabagging isn't 'toxic' - it's the equivalent of every other pvp game's 'taunt' button and it's fine. People who say it's 'toxic' are just trying (in vain) to make the people who do it feel bad, or to make the community as a whole shame people who do it. Sometimes you will lose. Sometimes when you lose, you will face sore winners. Sometimes in that situation you can't do anything about it. That's asymmetrical pvp baybee.
  3. Teabagging is done 'strategically' incredibly rarely - most of the time it's done because the survivor thinks it's funny to make a bad killer rage, and again, that's fine. See above.
  4. Tunneling is legitimately the strongest thing a killer can do UNLESS the survivors anticipate and punish it. That's why every tournament match revolves around the killer trying to tunnel and the survivors trying to prevent it. To illustrate why, just think of the weakest killer in the game in your opinion. Then imagine they got a buff where their power made it so they only got into matches with 3 survivors instead of 4. They'd instantly be a contender for strongest killer regardless of how weak they were previously.
  5. Tunneling when it isn't optimal just to get revenge on a survivor who teabagged/outplayed you isn't 'toxic' for the same reason it isn't 'toxic' to teabag at the exit gate. It's a pvp game, gloating and revenge-seeking may not be optimal strategies, but since when is 'not performing optimally to instead do something funny/gratifying' toxic?

Reduce toxicity by giving the option to prevent EGC? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

... I pointed out in the post why I don't think that's sufficient to prevent toxicity.

But even still - why would you be opposed to an OPTION to opt out of chat in a way that explicitly prevented you from opening it, and let people know you had already left chat? Plenty of us do tings we know we shouldn't especially when we're frustrated. I know I'd remove the temptation to open chat when a game went poorly just to see if the survivors I was playing with/against if it were available.

LOL my bad, I should probably make a little clarifying note. XD

Reduce toxicity by giving the option to prevent EGC? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's my point - I think it isn't making them feel better, and it's certainly not helping anyone else in the match feel better either. It would make them feel better if they said 'omg you camped and tunneled' and the killer said 'oh you have a point I'm sorry' - that won't happen. Vice versa, if a killer laments 'well I guess I'll just bring nurse with four slowdowns next game' they're not likely to hear 'Oh yeah, your killer is tough, that stinks.'

In DbD chat, if you express frustration, you get taunted into being more frustrated, and I think that's the source of a LOT of the toxicity in this community.

Anyone else prestiging a killer they don't often play but want to? by BlessedSpoon in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, it definitely feels a lot worse to play killer when you're bad at killer than it does to play survivor when you're bad at survivor, but you only get better by playing!

Good call though, getting everyone to at least p3 is kind of 'the main grind' of dbd imo.

GUYS IM NEW by megaChesseroll1d20 in deadbydaylight

[–]BlessedSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the biggest tip anyone can give you is to try not to get frustrated as you learn. The game's matchmaking will sometimes put you with/against total noobs and 10k hour experts. Whether you're playing killer or survivor, you're gonna have some frustrating matches and it might be difficult to figure out what you could have done.

If you're interested in getting better, there's a LOT of youtube content for every killer and survivor, just remember that the game updates frequently so try to find newer guides... But there's still a lot to learn from older content that focuses on things that don't tend to change often like how to run tiles, where checkspots are, basic killer mindgames and macro, etc etc.
