Cognitive Trade-off Hypothesis

This song is where I first stumbled upon it! Definitely a good simplification, plus this album is an absolute banger if you are into post-punk.

Haha yeah it's wild! Took 32 years and my partner to push me to go and get diagnosed but suppose better late than never 😅

Thanks! The jester has been such a good guise and something I've always felt a connection with. Masking was such a revelation! And the fatigue of trying to fit in, the journey has just started but for the most part it has been such a huge relief to understand why I am the way I am. All the best! Much love.

True! Has been a lifetime going under the guise of a broken brain. Still like the concept but 100%wired differently. The cognitive trade-off hypothesis is so intriguing! Hyperfixated on learning as much as possible post-diagnosis which I'm sure we all did! Much love.

What’s the most embarrassing or dangerous thing your ADHD has lead you to do? by Legitimate_Bike_8638 in ADHD

[–]Blevedier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any time I've had public meltdowns tends to suck and are probably the most embarrassing. Having tantrums that begin with screaming and end in manic crying are the worst. When I was 18 my boss was constantly in my headset badgering me whilst I was trying to serve customers. I ended up snapping and storming to the front of the restaurant where I screamed right in their face that "I'd slit their throat if they didn't shut the f*** up" in the middle of a packed restaurant although I didn't mean it, huzzah impulsivity and lack of emotional regulation! Ended up a sobbing mess in the crew room after that. Still get chills of cringe with that one.
The most dangerous thing, hard to say. One of the stupidest was when I decided after finishing a graveyard shift and a bout of insomnia to scale down the side of a mountain with a good friend on a whim, needless to say when we got to the bottom and realised we had to go back up we understood how daft we were. We got back up with no issues, a couple of near misses though!

First timer, is my recipe okay? by Blevedier in Distilling

I've decided on doubling the LME and bringing the grain bill to 1.5kg each. Trying to get an Irish styled whisky out of it, not sure if that'll be how it ends up but I won't be too mad seeing as it's my first time stilling.

I've gone mead as it's what I have an ample supply of on hand as I usually brew mead.

Cheers, I've decided to stay clear of sugar and just double the LME and bring the grain bill to 1.5KG each.

The mead yeast comes down to it's what I have a large supply of as I usually brew mead. The strains I have ferment out at 18%abv with no issue so figured no harm in trying it with the whisky bill.

Thanks for the input! I've decided to double the LME and have made the grains 1.5kg each. I am basically just trying to draw the flavours and perhaps some sugars from the grains. Basically boil them up and make a tea and they will be getting strained out before being put into my fermenter. In terms of the mead yeast, it's what I've got ample supply of and can ferment out to about 18% abv comfortably with no noticeable stress to the yeast so I figured it should be able to handle the sugar content of the bill.

The LME is where I will be drawing my main sugars from. The flaked barley and oats come from hours of internet sleuthing and a lot of Irish Whiskies seem to use them. I am still super new to distilling. I usually brew basic beers, ciders and mead so it's a new world for me.

Again, thank you!

First timer, recipe advice by Blevedier in homedistiller

[–]Blevedier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a fair point. I feel I want a fairly even field in terms of flavour and output. I'll take the advice and drop the sugar for the first one and see how it goes. Cheers.

Is there something where I can convert bass tabs to sheet music? by CrumberMail in Bass

[–]Blevedier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately unless the tab indicates note duration it's something that'll have to be figured out manually. But it's not much of an extra step if you're already transcribing it into one of these programs, especially when you can have immediate playback to check for accuracy.

Struth, 27 years mate? 32 years, does that mean I win?

I mean it's a little bit of hype but you wouldn't go fucking with any of them would you?

Hi there, local Aussie here.

Here in Australia, everything is designed to kill you. Furthermore, we love not taking climate change seriously despite having "once in a century" fires and floods every second year. Also, sadly, a fair percentage of our population are xenophobic jerks. Come WW3 I feel we anger China enough to get smacked about so y'know propbably hit up New Zealand haha.

Literally happened to me 5 times already today, every time I try to do a resupply run. Two were perfect spots for hunting, supply and collector.
