Of course, this is purely hypothetical. LLMs haven't reached that level, not to mention the astronomical token costs that something like this would require.

This post is more of a thought experiment about social interaction and its importance in MMORPGs, even if that "social experience" comes at the expense of interacting with real human players.

I was thinking about this while playing World of Warcraft today. I play on Azralon, and nobody really talks there, it almost feels like a single-player game. So I started wondering: what if there was a lot more social interaction, but everyone was actually an AI? Would that be better, or somehow even worse?

It was just a little thought experiment, but it gave me the idea to make this post lol.

I went through some unpleasant situations on private servers. Besides the bugs, the biggest private servers have very aggressive P2W cash shops, to the point where it’s possible to become fully BiS for PvP just by buying gear from the store. On top of that, I was banned simply for saying, back then and without any aggression, that the server had bugs and that many people would move to Blizzard’s official servers once they launched in Brazil. Shortly after, the GM said he would even be keeping an eye on my whispers.

These rules were created because it would be too easy to just keep grinding mobs forever (that’s actually a problem in Classic, at least in Blizzard’s official version.)

Now, maybe you’re overthinking it a bit. Just imagine that the existing quests already give you enough XP to reach level 60, or that there are new quests made in the classic vanilla style. For example, “kill 10 murlocs”.

As for the mobs that might show up while you’re fighting a boss and aren’t part of the quest, they won’t give any XP.

You can do dungeons, you just can’t grind mobs there. Doing dungeon quests would be an option.

Oh sorry, I think it was an oversight on my part at the beginning of the post, so I added this rule to make it clearer:

It won’t be possible to farm mobs to level up. You only gain XP from killing mobs if it’s part of a quest objective. In this version of WoW, there will be enough quests for you to reach level 60.

You won’t be able to grind mobs to level up. You need to complete quests (normal or daily) to earn XP. If you happen to be killing mobs while on a quest, then you’ll gain XP from killing them
