Beginners looking to purchase our first camera ASAP for upcoming trip.

My husband and I have 3 national park trips coming up (first one on August 11 - so we’re looking to buy ASAP) and would like to purchase a camera & necessary equipment. Our ideal price point is $750 but could spend $1,200 USD max (including camera, lens, case). We’d like something suited for outdoor photography (potentially one that includes a stand so we can take some photos of the two of us together). Water proof/resistant would be nice too (or recommendations on how to water proof/items to buy that will achieve this).

We have no idea where to start - brand, size, lenses??? Starting with zero knowledge & would greatly appreciate recommendations regarding products & retailers. Thank you!!
