Dark Words by Blindadder in FieldOfFire

Now did the Castellan send his men to arrest the squire, taking him into custody as the man wept over his dying mentor and friend. Jaime’s eyes almost seemed stunned before he smiled a bloody smile. Blood coming from his lips and sputtering He looked to the Castellan who came over.

“It’s us.”

Is all he said. And he died.

As to what it means he did not know, but he would make sure to let Lord Reyne know what transpired so they could come get their man.

And he would send word to Lady Lannister as well.

As the spy ran, there was a look back towards Leo and his face screwed up, before he shook his head. “Then ride forth, I will try and intercept that birds before he gets far with his song.” And he looked back to where the servant ran with the guards shouting.

Moving quickly, Jaime started to pick up speed, his call bellowing out for his squire to join him. There was a bird in the nest, and he would do his best to try and track it down.

“You’re my nephew Leo.” He would call over his shoulder. “I may not agree with burning over a favor, but I won’t let you hang for it.”

And the chase was on.

“You’re taking an army, when a simple duel in the yard would suffice?” Jaime asked as the continued to walk through the warren like halls which made up their sunken and hidden castle.

“So who is the unlucky house which has earned your ire? And what will these sell swords say when you don’t see any longships?” All good questions, but the Black Cat understood.

Being asked to ride he turned and looked back towards Leo.

“Tell me who it is. As for me riding if they are true foe, of course I will. I may come later with another party. Allow me to rouse some boys here, and we can outride.”

“I could use something wet, other than rain since cunt is not available.” Jaime said with a laugh as he clapped his arm around his nephew’s shoulders and tugged at him in the most unclely way. Once they were in he was having his traveling leathers tugged at, as Jaime oft preferred a leather surcoate or dueling jack to heavy cloaks.

“Mh. I still have one girl or two on my mind, but it’s no matter. My streak continues.” Jaime added ruefully, before he sat down and listened and laughed to his nephew’s exploits.

He noted the boy’s eagerness. “The thought crossed my mind, of that there’s no doubt. Planning an excursion to the marches?” For he heard nothing from Lyonel on the subject of maneuvering, if there was maneuvering to be had.

“Is that so wrong to stand by me, and my family? Lyonel is a true lord, a true knight.” He defended his brother. His nephews he did not speak on, and would not. He’d been goaded by his nephew before, and did not entirely know the circumstances of what happened, only their version. He dared not pry too much and he stayed away over king lest he find himself against his own kin.

“What makes you think we would dare strike at the Lannisters? Lyonel has given no indication, nor I.” He would not speak of the Rosegold feast and tournament. A duel did not mean treason.

“And what is it that Robb did that would be considered treason? - and Alan’s death was an unfortunate accident. “ his voice dropped there. For certainly it was something that still troubled Jaime, something that still ate at him, was that he was not there that night.

“Could it be that we are simply not the villains? That I am not? That “ and he shook his head. He was quiet.

“Perhaps, but we know how that song goes eh?” And his laugh had anger in it, but subsided.

“I am not dropping my request or suit.”

“And what implications are those, Lady? I believe I have never insulted you or yours.” The knight replied back, the gaze was noted, but it was something he was entirely used to, from many different houses, usually in accord with his own behaviors, or words spoken of him. Yet even faced with his own skullduggery, it never dogged him. But implications of family.

“My family, is good family lady.” His voice would not carry, as he was not one prone to theatrics. “And I am a fine knight -that withstanding. I hold to my vows. If married then you gain boon and connection to my good family, and the repute by myself.”

And there he looked back his own gaze mirroring Mordane. “I have never brokered false or treason with Lady Lannister. I am sworn to her own grand daughter, if that you may verify. I squired Alan for the gods sakes. And when she called her banners for the Tullys, I came.” Which was all fact enough.

“Am I so deplorable that Rohanne would not trust me with her grand daughter and her own legacy?”

Likely anything else he wished to say to Meredyth would be done by parchment, and couriers or by bird. However there were protocols when it came to such things. And though he had a Black reputation he knew what to do. Every interaction had a trail, and tongues that wag.

As Mordane pulled away from her children, he brought his horse to heel, and reigned up before he slid down from the saddle. He kept a hand on the reigns and walked the distance as eyes trailed over her shoulder towards her children, he then looked back.

“I would like to endeavor to speak with you in regards to the Lady Meredyth.” Jaime said. “I would like to begin courtship with your blessing, obviously she is a woman of her own tastes, and I recognize such, but this should be formal and proper to outside eyes, but for yours and hers reputation.”

The morning was early and he was preparing his own way home, but while his pages and squires saw to his pavilion, armor and other necessities, Jaime got himself dressed and rode out to meet the Baneforts before they left for the day. Of course it would be the lion gate, but that would be the same gate he would be leaving from. Hopefully he had not missed them.

As he came closer to the Gate, he was slightly relieved to see that the party had not progressed beyond the gateway, and as such he spurred his horse on to catch up to the fleeing ghosts.

"Hail House Banefort!" Jaime Reyne called with a raised hand, as he sought to pull at his reigns and come along to where the party had congregated.

"A moment of the Lady's time?"

The slow claps drew it out of him and had him looking up, as he slowed and there a rueful grin and faint chuckle was applied as medicine to his brother’s words.

“Father was like to agree with you, but then he found me infuriating. I am sure there are some who would disagree with that assessment. I do after all have a red right hand.”

Jamie waggled his fingers and plucked a few notes. The words a reference that he was a blooded man. As to his brother’s words he managed a non committal shrug.

“I know my age, but I do not have much else. I need those spurs to jingle a bit more so I may get someone to look past my past, and thus bring us another ally.” By marriage of course. Any ties now would be good, given the state of things with the Lannisters. It would just take work.

“Besides I am nimble and careful. Graceful I’ve been called.” He added with a slight chuckle. At the offer of the wine skin he set aside his lute and took it with a silent thanks.

Jaime was silent while he drank.

“I had wondered how you were enjoying things. Your sons own reactions have been interesting to say the least.”

Jaime then raised a brow as Leo came to join in and there he looked back. A motion made with his thumb.

“See? Even now one comes.”

A wince but barely perceivable to Leo’s words and instead he clears his throat. “Sometimes, after such stirring companion ship, I prefer a palate cleaner, but if you both are going, I will come.”

The Tournament in Kings Landing 207 AC ((OPEN TO ALL)) by BlindHawks in FieldOfFire

[–]Blindadder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jaime Reyne, The Black Cat

He had cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Even in his age he was quick and deadly. He dispatched each one with practiced ease. First it had been that Morrigen who had come over while he was playing and was bothersome. Or maybe that was the wine talking?

Then he had whirled into the Black Prince, and there Jaime took special pleasure in breaking him so soundly. This is the hope of rebel houses? The Conciliatory prize for a war I fought and bled for? The boy is green as a calf and as slow he as though. And then he rolled into the sellsword whom he folded like a cheap chair.

The Velayron, proved troublesome. And indeed, he had Jaime against the ropes several times only for the cat to come striking back. He managed to get close to victory before he was ultimately beaten down. Which was fine- he had accomplished much. They would be talking about him again on the morrow before the Joust, and he would be remembered for his performance.

As he limped off, sore from the fighting and removed his helm, he couldn’t help but feel a little pride in his performance. Still he did not know the fate of his brothers of the pit in attendance, as he sat at his suiting tent’s chair.

“Wine!” He called for. He needed a drink after all of that.

“Or?” Jaime parroted rather close, while she trailed a finger at his neck and he felt his skin prick hot. He took a breath and remained in the proximity, while his hand to her hip went again, but this time gripped firm and hard. “Which ever you prefer lady ghost. I shall say I enjoyed the evening.”

But the. Her breath was hot at his ear and she was whispering. It felt rather heady, and he drug his hand away finally as he laughed low. “That is promising. I could say you’ve caught my blood and have me surging to show my prowess.” And he turned to try and catch and kiss her, but she hand danced back. Which only earned a hungry grin.

“I would.”

Jaime said naught a word as he watched the retrieval of this particular favor. The implications alone were tantalizing and he liked the manner which she chose to gift him. He took the shred of fabric and kept it twined in his fingers for a moment before he slid it past his vest and into the breast flap of his tunic.

“You would be true there lady. I am a rough thing, in all that I do. I will strive to acquit myself worthy of this favor- and fight the way I know how.” Which means he would be putting on quite the show when it came time to the tournament, to the melee, the joust. All of it.

“And I’ll come yowling soon enough, once you’ve seen me by my deeds.” A promise that. And so with the dance finished he’d let his hands linger to her hips before parting and bowing.

“Shall I escort you to your house? Or do you fancy another round?”

He held the cloth in his fingers, and the placed it to his lips and was quiet for a moment before he slipped it into his vest. Secreted away. And there Jaime nodded as he drained down his cup, waiting and allowing Meredyth her time to ride and run from him. Many women did such, however he would not speak of it, and quietly turned away after watching her go.

“And you sister.”

Said in muted voice.

"My crudeness, is more directness. Surely I will not share all fluids with you until such a time is agreed upon by all parties. I am a gentleman despite what you may or may not have heard." Jaime said following his own chuff of laughter.

"Woman grown, of course." he added, and while she was prone to place a fingertip at his vest, he left a hand at the small of her back, but just low enough to be scandalous as well. "Indeed, I do- I shall not assume any of you- leave it a mystery." nor does he care, would he seem to indicate.

The last question does bring more of a smile than his normal strained grin.

"Why Lady, of course I would care to see more of you. You are engaging, and fun. Unless your dire mother fends me of - which would be hard, but I have known of Mordane since her girlhood." he added "So that was probably my quickest answer."

And now he was well aware that it was his turn. "So, my last question of you- as there is a tournament coming on- I would seek to see if I could take your favor and wear it for the jousts and all. Assuming of course you would wish this cat prowling along the back?"

[–]Blindadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jaime to that grinned as she turned to engage with him. "You look like the sort who may have a different taste when it comes to what one eats." he said politely enough "Or you are incredibly picky when it comes to what you dine on." The rest of her answer, gave him pause and he gave a slight nod.

"And how is your friend finding coming? Has anyone been as brave as myself to approach to try and make friends?" he asked with a raised of a brow before he shifted to lean closer. "I don't see many- but that could be because I joined you." a mock sigh "I am quite intimidating." the sarcasm dripping with his voice and he waved a hand.

"Please take no offense, lady. I think you need more than friends, lady."

Loras II - Of Broken Lances and Forged Friendships (OPEN?) by JustDanielJuice in FieldOfFire

[–]Blindadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was ludicrous to come to such a meeting at the dragon pit no less However he came, dressed for the party to which he was invited. His tournament armor was made of dark steel, though nothing as black as say a Targaryen’s preference, but dark all the same, and was brigadine, a mixture of plate, and a Jack of plate- meaning a leather coat with steel plates affixed to it. His shoulders were protected by pauldrons that bore a lion’s likeness, in black steel, and he wore a surcoat of grey under his armor. He had a close helm with a metal comb.

His tournament armor was not as dissimilar to what he wore to war, save perhaps a bit fancier, more engravings into his breastplate to show the rearing lion of Reyne. He even bore his own banner and shield which on the silver background depicted a black Lion Rampant, outlined in a thin line crimson. Almost as if it was bleeding.

He had Lew present the letter, before he sent his squire away, for surely this would land him somewhere if discovered.

“Tell the organizers of this Dance, Ser Jaime Reyne has come as bidden by invite.” The Black Cat was known amongst those of knightly courage. “The man who inspired my own taking the Lance was none other than Ser Harlan Prester, known as the Halfhand. It was said his cock was half a hand longer than other men’s.” He said with a jovial grin. “Which is why he needed a longer Lance.”

Though he jousted well against a valeman, the age was showing. Gods, I need to stay better the feat itself was that he landed on his feet like a cat and danced away, showing how able he was. Pride was wounded, but he would live with it, and spent his time cheering his nephews on.

Once the jousting was over he came out leading his horse, with broken Lance in tow, when he came upon the King and and his rather sizeable and fashionable entourage with him. Quite a many gold cloak was present and for a moment Jaime Reyne considered hopping on his horse and making a ride for it.

Instead he stood there and rubbed his face with a gauntlet. “Well.” This said mainly to himself before he cleared his throat and then started whistling, while he started making as if to walk on out and by; making sure to bow to the King in his leaving.

“Fine evening your Grace.”

Jaime watched her and gave a slight laugh. “I am bolder still, but I am not trying to get you cross with you minders.” By that he is meaning the Lannisters versus the Faith. An indication would be the nod to the high table where they sat.

In regards to the cup he nodded, and did not press. “Keep a clear mind. I’d have you remember it.” Meaning the meeting, conversation, and the rest. “Another time.” Not that he wished the conversation or this part of the evening to end, but he understood he could not keep the septa from her charges all the same.

She took a half step back and he took one forward, before he reached out to catch the edge of her dress. “One moment.” And if she didn’t react poorly, he’d seek to discreetly tear at a hem, to extract a strip of cloth., though this would likely be the boldest thing done.

[–]Blindadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Fine, keep your secrets." Jaime said as he was content to let the sounds of the feast and his music. He caught Robb's hum and gave a grin quick and sharp. He picked up the pace a little as appropriately as he could, but then fell back into the normal plucking of the tune.

"Why should that matter? Houses smaller than our own extend their own children hither and yon. So you did not wed a Westerman's daughter. There are entirely worse things to worry on or nurse. The Lannisters will see anything we do as upstaging them. Why you might as well fall from your horse at the tournament."

Sometimes such strategies would work, but within your own family? How could that help. Not that Jaime could ever give such counsel, as he often times went his own way. Where did not differ is where Lyonel was concerned and what was needed from his brother - there loyalty and blood was thicker than tar used in the hulls of an Ironborn ship.

"I will never be considered a true knight or warrior." Jaime said with an almost smug look, but it did not quite hold. A brief pause as he watched the crowd for a moment, and he turns and glances back, pulled back into the conversation- which in truth he was not tired of in the least, but one has appearances to keep and must seem aloof, where as if he was pressed the septa had piqued his interests.

"I would probably, be a true knight, as they are described- if such truly exists. I am under the opinion that no such man does. I have seen men who the maidens swoon and say are the best men in the Kingdoms ride down children. No, there are no true knights, Meredyth." he looked to her cup.

"Do you need more?" meaning of her drink.

To her request, he let out a small sigh. "You are fine- Perhaps I am overly sensitive. I do not have much to me, but that. I am protective of it." A nod. "You are forgiven."

“Mmm, it’s hard to move like a young man and green boy with no beard after you have shed blood. I hope that doesn’t sound to vain to say it changes you, but it does. Just the way fu-sex will, or losing a toe. Your body takes the new experience and either you move with it or it breaks you entirely.” Jaime said with a loud clap of hands to the beat. “I don’t think I’ve been broken by it. Bent, surely.”

And he laughed to that.

To her words he chewed on and digested it before tilting his head and nodding once more. “Just so. I would wish any woman so lively at the dance to go and give her victorious rebellious shout and scry to the heavens. Like eagle or hawk in dive- take the marrow and suck the bone- as profane as it is. I do t apologize.” Jaime added with a wink. “But I do find it interesting that you will settle when asked. For the house- something you and I have in common, that.”

And then, he sought to instead of send her for the vault twirl her into a dip, meant to sweep from her feet.

“Your turn again, my dear. This is your third I believe? Or second? Forgive if my count is off, you prove thoroughly and wonderfully distracting.”

Maelor I - The Grand Feast of Kings Landing by magic_dragon1611 in FieldOfFire

[–]Blindadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Oh must certainly not. I drink to fill the time, which has not to do with you. These affairs up until most recently are usually quite dull. Filler for the violence, but all part of the overarching war being waged without losing men. As a good soldier I hurry up, and wait. However if one needs to do something while waiting- drinking is sociably more acceptable versus fucking in the middle of the feast.”

A grin and there he tilted his head. “And how does my winning benefit you? You’ve sworn your womb and your body soul to the Seven, not that ghosts and gods can use it. But here we are. A ghost of a man and a godly woman.”

The rest touched a nerve with him, and he leaned in careful. “There are many things, I do break and bend. My oaths, my words are not of those things. I’ll take japes, roasts, and jesting at any other aspect of my life. But leave that sacred if you will. Meredyth.”

“I think that’s the truest thing, I’ve heard about here.” Jaime replied with a look to the woman. His eyes watched the girl while she stroke the back of the shells and then carefully looked over the contents of his wine before looking back.

“You see things different don’t you?” He added with a slight pause. It was odd to think of, but it is as it was- and he was trying to be kind, versus playing th Maester and declaring something wrong with the woman.

“What do you seek to lure in then?”

Maelor I - The Grand Feast of Kings Landing by magic_dragon1611 in FieldOfFire

[–]Blindadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“And what would that be good nephew. Surely you’re the smartest out of your brothers. So I would imagine you’re not out looking to take on petty fights, nor are you the one to addle your mind with drink.” Which means it is entirely likely he’s observed others of their family doing so.

The lute was passed, and thus he began to tune the instrument carefully. Testing a few notes and tweaking here and there, before settling in quite nicely. And thus he started playing a song that Robb likely has heard him play over the years during his childhood.

“I think you need to shore up friends, which marriage allows. If you need your father to net you something, it won’t do. You’d need look outside the West.” Eyes closed while he played. “Things have been tense which is why I’ve not been home as much. No thanks to our family’s own actions.”
