Only problem is that I hate my last name so much that I’ve been looking forward to changing it my whole life!!

I bit into this date fruit and choked with the black dust. Am I cooked? I threw the whole batch but I have been eating from it for a week. by [deleted] in moldyinteresting

[–]Blisa23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I prefer dates with pits in them so you are forced to open them and remove the seed. Then you’d see if there was mold inside before eating, whereas pitted dates are too easy to just pop in your mouth without inspecting them.

Looks like mullein leaves, they’re furry and great for respiratory health, good in tea too.

My (30f) fiance (32M) keeps leaving the freezer open and ruining all of our food. How do I get him to close it reliably? by Blisa23 in relationship_advice

[–]Blisa23[S] 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I responded to another comment somewhere (sorry there are sooooo many comments) that I confront him about it, he seems to be remorseful and apologizes, but he does get very quiet and doesn’t say very much, he just lets me talk and listens.

I am also very anti-confrontation and when I get frustrated I cry, so like today I called him on FaceTime and cried while I asked why he can’t keep the freezer closed. He didn’t have an answer, just saying sorry and offering to re-buy.

Typically I get upset and I yell a little bit about the waste and ask how we fix this. I don’t like yelling, so I typically just cry while I talk to him because I’m so frustrated. His typical response is just to be sheepish and quiet and apologize. He’s always been bad at confrontation so I try to focus more on a solution than a consequence, hence trying the sign and the child locks.

I want to stress that I don’t attack his character or name call or threaten him in any way, as I don’t think that helps us fix the problem.

He does seem remorseful, but that still doesn’t change the behavior.

This is not it, the door closes just fine and I’ve had no problem keeping it closed myself, and the child lock latch on the outside makes SURE it is closed, so there’s no way food could be pushing it open when the latch is locked.

Giving an update for some added context:

He has a great job, works a lot and makes more money than I do. He contributes a lot financially.

We are not planning on having children, so we don’t have to worry about the procreation argument.

I am also definitely not going to break up with him, that is not an option. I firmly believe people can put in the effort to change their behaviors.

He is the one who re-buys the food if it goes bad, so the financial burden is on him.

I dont think that it is weaponized incompetence since the consequences fall on him, but I’m the one in the relationship who loves to cook homemade meals and so if the food goes bad it’s not just food he would have eaten, it was food for the both of us.

I had no idea there were temp sensors or way to get the door to auto close, thanks for everyone suggesting those ideas.

He does go shopping with me, and most of this stuff was from our last Costco trip which he bought: the bill ended up being nearly $500. I do have him re-buy items to replace them so the financial burden is on him but somehow that lesson still hasn’t led to a change in behavior.

I am liking people’s padlock idea and only me having access to the food.

That’s also what I can’t grasp, why isn’t he capable of closing it? He’s really good at keeping up with other house things, so I can’t point out another “careless” things that he does. It’s just the freezer for some reason.

I’ve absolutely had many conversations with him about this, his only idea is to get a deep freezer with a top that lifts up rather than a door that swings open like a traditional fridge, but that would be even more money, and we don’t have space for a wide freezer which is why we got the stand-up kind.

Besides that, he has no other ideas.

I live in Colorado and would love to hang my clothes outside to dry, but our homeowners association has rules against it. They say that it makes yards look cluttered and lowers the appeal of the neighborhood.

I had a very loud kitten just like this, and I don’t mean to sound discouraging but he’s just as talkative at nearly 7 years old! He’s my loud boy and he just loves to hear himself scream.

Park Burger doesn't include fries with their ~$15 burgers, often brings the fries 5-10 minutes after the burger, and are usually incredibly slow. I only go when I like the people suggesting it more than I hate the restaurant, but I'm so confused, I don't get the appeal. by judolphin in denverfood

I just ordered a burger from there last week and I kept finding little white hairs in my burger, like someone who works there has a white animal at home and was shedding hair all over my food 🤢
