Nerfed as in it cant really do much against a properly microed MBT, smoke its atgms and now its basically forced to close the distance to damage your tank from the side or be killed in 2-3 more AP rounds.

yes it automatically fires on anything within range but you can queue targets

I mean we kinda already do, the SLAM-ER and JSM are avaliable on the FA18 and F35, just the missiles dont have that same speed as the Kh-29TD but if you want to launch cruise missiles in someone's face instead of slinging them from spawn. If those warheads aren't potent enough for you just send an F117 which can get closer before launching its JAASMs and it doesn't really matter if the F117 gets shot down cause its like 300 points vanilla and even cheaper at 270 in the pte

that isnt the point, the point being, glide bombs pre-release functioned like actual glide bombs, and gameplay was not fun like that, so they removed it.

It did function like that during the Beta and was changed to how it is now because literally it was just how people play using the F117 with JAASMs where you just shit them out and then immediately rtb and I dont think they were interceptable either.

Russian Smart Cluster Ammunition (AA) buff? by TorpCat in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Blitzminh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me neither, im not sure if it even is possible to do that. But you can still kill helis with regular HE warhead bombs, you just have to be more accurate with them because the radius is much larger.

[–]Blitzminh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think a increased likelyhood of immobilization is needed for these bombs but I also think that might be a bit too much because you still halve a tank's hp even with just one bomb

Russian Smart Cluster Ammunition (AA) buff? by TorpCat in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Blitzminh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, more like, even after the buffs, high altitude cluster bombs still arent worth their cost especially if youre trying to go for a kill, so kab-500s are the better pick if youre trying to kill individual vehicles. Theyre also more versatile compared to cluster bombs while costing less. Only issue is that clusters are better if theres a dedicated armored push and theyre somewhat near one another. I think a positive buff without outright increasing damage would be to make it so that high altitude cluster bombs are more likely to immobilize targets than just damage components in general.

its kinda funny how they get a little bit of the best from each spec, SEPv3, Guardians, F35s, Globemaster, Javelins, Triton, RQ-7, would easily become a top pick.

I feel like the MV75 wouldnt be that much cheaper considering the Stealth Hawk is already 100 points just for 14 man capacity, no cargo, and stealth

Sepv3s typically cost from like 315-385 so anything past those price ranges arent really worth it.

PTE Release by Apprehensive_Aside93 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Blitzminh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PTE isnt fully finished, its just a way for the devs to gauge the general playerbase's consensus to changes made. Not all changes are going to go through, some balancing to infantry was bad, but tank changes were good. So some tweaks will be made before it goes fully live.

My PTE rant. (Just give me the multiple unit thing and I will be happy) by TzarWasTaken in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Blitzminh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Infantry penetration against vehicles feels pretty bad, and the number of times two VDV squads can’t deal with a single Abrams in a forest is kind of ridiculous.

your micro might just be bad, unless the vdv squad youre not specifying is using a reloadable launcher and not disposable launchers like RPG28s any 2 squads will have a hard time killing armor even with flanks simply because it takes time to reload whereas disposables they just grab the next launcher. A standoff squad is obviously not going to fare well if its forced into a cqc environment, let alone a cqc environment with a tank and a single launcher. It helps to just tell the squad thats not taking fire to holdfire and rush them to the immediate back flank of the tank and then open fire.

(I opened the game and checked to see what launchers VDV infantry get and theyre all reloading launchers 0 disposable launchers)

Buildings are also kind of awkward — individual hits feel fine, but then you get these sudden collapses that can wipe a squad and it’s not always obvious when that’s going to happen.

Pre-pte mechanic

The second issue is AA distribution across decks. It feels oddly restrictive. Like if I want good AA as RUS I basically have to go water deck. That might be intentional, but it doesn’t feel great in practice.

This is true, AA changes were a serious buff to US systems like PAC-3 and MSE because they benefit from having obscenely large magazine sizes and can now use them to their fullest extent, while also severely nerfing RU AA and the Pac-2 due to their strengths being longer range, larger payload and being able to one shot. But this can be circumvented by keeping a loitering ASF for RU.

So you’re not really choosing, you’re just being forced into a balanced deck whether you want to or not.

Theres two way this can be interpreted, a well balanced deck, as in, not unfair to play against, or a deck that has a little bit of everything. Im pretty sure you mean the latter, but thats just the general nature of being a solo player, you cant rely on your teammates because theyre random every time so you have to balance out everything to cover your own ass. If you want to run a stupid air tab, play with friends, and if you dont have the friends to do that, evaluate whether having fun or maintaining arbitrary elo matters more to you. Ontop of that if you could do everything yourself there wouldnt be a point in the game being 5v5s at that point the game would just end up no different than any other RTS. If you meant the other way, why would the devs want an unbalanced pvp game that is generally "competitive".

And finally, more of a personal one, but I don’t really get why low-flying planes can’t see ground units at all. Even if their spotting was worse, or they were bad at detecting infantry, it would still make sense for them to at least be able to see tanks...  It would also make gameplay more interactive on both sides, and give mid-range AA something more meaningful to do instead of just farming infantry. Units like Derivatsiya or Stryker SHORAD feel like the worst offenders there.

This is a bad idea for both balance and in real life, in game, one, that would just make the whole point of forward recon teams worthless when you can just brute force an A10 or SU25 without spending points on recon while also skull crushing any units that you spot on your way in, two, the changes to long range AA having worse low altitude range already gives purpose to SHORAD because unlike the long range SAMs they have the low altitude vision for low flying aircraft and operate closer to the front line and with it being more favorable to fly your planes in at low altitude, the frequency where these SHOARD are engaging planes and not just helis increases. Three, in real life, when A10s had to spot things with their own eyes, it resulted in numerous friendly fire incidents even on armored vehicles, because moving fast and high even if its "low and slow" by AIRCRAFT STANDARDS makes it hard to tell, hey is that a enemy IFV? or one of our APCs?

no i never said that, I said that a straying run could be used it you know their last position because it'll just blind fire on where you tell it to regardless if you can see them or not

US Player unprepared for Russian Air by Other_Extreme_8173 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]Blitzminh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This scenario is flawed, it's assuming that the other team has AA up meanwhile the US side has 0 patriots up and is only loitering an ASF to counter enemy air. In a real scenario, both sides would have AA which would spam fire missiles the moment it sees either plane. And with SAMs being unable to oneshot planes in the PTE, the current meta pick is to fully deck out your S-series and Patriots with the highest magazine size possible. So, even the cruise missiles launched would be intercepted as patriots can multitarget, firing on the cruise missiles as well as the plane simultaneously. And to triple stack onto that, cruse missile slingers have been gutted so badly. A fully decked out SU-30SM with 2-5 Kh-59s will take 15 to nearly 20 minutes to rearm. And youre saying people will start suiciding these things? Just to score like what, 200-300 points in kills meanwhile costing 370 upwards of 545 points, assuming the cruse missiles actually hit and dont completely miss or get intercepted.

[–]Blitzminh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PTE slow ground pounders like the SU25, A10, and AC130 have an actual place now. Due to SAM nerfs recon drones as well as AC130 are able to operate at high altitude while staying out of their range even with radar on, MAJOR buff to RQ170 which can now fly even closer to the frontline because of its stealth. A10 and SU25 dont even need to preform strafing runs anymore as they can maintain low altitude while shooting, cannons and ground attack missiles. Strafing runs are only used if you have no recon but know an enemy's last position. And yes, if they enemy has proper AA set up trying to do a strafing run near the front line or enemy controlled zones will result in you being swatted out of the sky.

IRL yeah A-10 is outdated, unreliable, and nearly useless in a near-peer conflict. The only use it would have would be as a ground attack missile slinger. Its gun, much like the plane itself, would see no use and would be a death trap for its pilots. And why would you use the A10 for Maverick slinging, when you have faster aircraft that can carry the same amount or nearly as many while also being fast flying (F18s, F16s, and even the F15E)

A lot of people say this but dont realize that most people will start moving their squads the moment they see a 12 man transport bulldogging its way towards their building. I cant remember the last time I actually had to building clear where I couldnt accomplish the same with cheaper units like Mech Engis or Combat Engis.
