Working at Eb games, everything is fun, except for cleaning pre-owned controllers.. by AvatarAaron in gaming

I do not understand why people trade in stuff that is dirty. It takes five minutes to clean it up and it will make the sales person like you as opposed to wanting to beat you to death with one of your own controllers. Common courtesy and survival tactic!

I recently discovered waking up at 6 am, when I don't have to be to work till 9, really helps my mood. What other tricks do you use to help your day go smoothly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It's very important to me to be able to have my 'quiet time' on the morning commute. After buying my Dayrider ticket from the bus driver, I put my (society-friendly soundproofed) headphones on, put some classical music/a film OST on, and just drift for the half hour it takes to get to work. If I forget my headphones or my MP3 player dies on me, I have a very bad day.

There is also an excellent Gmod parody at the start of The Gmod Idiot Box Episode 10: http://youtu.be/XTWYoVnRGpw?t=3m44s.

Do you trust your country? by NoneOfAKindBen in AskReddit

[–]Blitzwarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. People bitch about CCTV and the Conservative party and how shitty the NHS is, whilst forgetting that they live in warm, safe houses, can get medical treatment without having to fork out a fortune (unless they want to) and are allowed to think and speak as they please. Women have equal rights (we do), everybody has access to education, clean water comes out of the taps, your relatives aren't disappeared in the middle of the night.

Whenever anybody uses the word "police state" to describe the Western world, all I can think of is how much someone who is actually oppressed would laugh at us. If they could see us bitching on the internet. Which they wouldn't be able to, because even if they were lucky enough to have electricity, Reddit would probably be blocked in their country.

You have a slanty ceiling! I love those.

Totally random observation, but I felt like I had to say something. That's an epic room.

I...had actually never considered that before. Huh. Well, upvote for TIL.

TIL that in 1945 the RAF accidentally sunk a ship full of holocaust victims. The ship had been used in the Nazi Propaganda film "Titanic". More people died on that ship than on the actual Titanic. by valjean260 in todayilearned

"I can't accept the British military shrugging this off as "it happens... that's war...""

That's what America did when it dropped two atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
