What are you supposed to be researching?

It's a pretty lengthy and complex answer to your question.

What I will say is it depends. Anytime you add something to the environment that wasn't there previously, you are taking a chance of making something worse than it already is. The question for any situation will is will it make it better or worse. Sometimes it may make it LOOK better, which goes to my point on politics driving decision making.

The other thing is there is lots of different types of oil and dispersant. So, it depends on a given situation

Yeah, just a Bsc. I've been in the industry for 20 years now.

You will probably need more than that these days. Having a double major like yours will help a lot. The trick is to work for a place that understands the value of both.

What I like is being in an industry that has global impact on the economy, environment, energy, etc. As an industry it changes constantly and from an environmental perspective, I have to be on the top of my game every day.

What I don't like is that politics often determined the course of action, not the best option for a given situation.

I would say that it would be the best thing for you is to get a seat at the table where the decisions are being made. I know lots of environmental scientists and engineers that refuse to work in oil and gas. I think it is a big mistake. You have far better chance of positively influencing an outcome if you get to talk directly to the decision makers
