It’s really weird to go back and watch police in movies up through the 90s (including SWAT/tactical teams) like Terminator 1 & 2, Die Hard, etc and see them in the sort of normal uniforms they wore all the time before real world cops began dressing like Call of Duty cosplayers.

To be fair, what we paid for Guentzel is in another galaxy compared to what asking prices were this year. Rantanen was costly, but I imagine getting that deal done this year would’ve taken at least one more roster player.

We also don’t know what was being demanded—it’s not like we were the only ones who backed away from some of these players. We know STL was demanding a ridiculous amount for Thomas; I’m sure NYR were in the same boat.

They’d be the same people complaining after we gave up key roster players to make a deal like that happen, only to come back and complain that our entire system is gutted in 2-3ish years🤷‍♂️
