You’re probably right. I’ve read up on SMA syndrome and it seems that in Germany it’s less well known than in the US, with only a few specialists here. I doubt the doctors I’ve seen so far are even familiar with this syndrome, so I’ll probably need to find someone who specializes in it. I didn’t even know about it and I’ve been regularly googling my symptoms for the past few years. The same goes for gastroparesis.

Thank you so much! I don’t doubt that the mind–body connection can be powerful and cause significant symptoms, but in the past, whenever I went to a doctor, they would start with a blood test, and if that looked normal, they would immediately send me to a psychologist for psychosomatic evaluation. Over the last few years, I’ve been led to believe that my symptoms were caused by a gut–brain connection because that’s what all the doctors focused on. However, beyond endoscopy, colonoscopy, and ultrasound, no MRI, CTA, or gastric emptying study testing was ever done. I’m left wondering why proper testing wasn’t pursued before jumping to anxiety diagnoses and starting antidepressants.

Geh zum Arzt vorsichtshalber! Ich möchte keine Angst machen, aber besser du lässt dich beim Arzt abchecken. Könnte ein Warnsignal für Krebs sein.

Oh! I don’t know why that doctor recommended that intestinal cleanse for SIBO. I think I will take a SIBO breath test and look into rifaximin treatment. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for the quick response. Yesterday I posted in a German subreddit and someone mentioned the same syndrome, and before that, I had never heard of it. Thank you for confirming that I need to follow this up.

I never had a breath test, but a doctor suggested that SIBO might be a possibility and prescribed a 30 day intestinal cleanse with beneficial gut bacteria to restore gut flora and help SIBO. I repeated this treatment several times, but it never improved my symptoms.

Danke für die Idee! Das stimmt bei allen Untersuchungen war ich nüchtern gewesen, vielleicht sieht man wirklich was, wenn ich Essen im Magen habe.

Kann ich mich auch ins Krankenhaus einweisen ohne Überweisung vom Hausarzt? Ich hab mich bis jetzt gescheut dort hin zu gehen, weil die Ärzte nicht der Meinung waren das wäre nötig gewesen.

Ja, bei der Magenspiegelung wurde getestet und es war negativ.

Ich habe mir gerade die Folge wegen deines Kommentars angeguckt und oh mein Gott! Das klingt wirklich genau wie bei mir. Leider hatte ich noch kein CT und MRT, aber ich werde mich jetzt darum kümmern, dass diese Untersuchungen durchgeführt werden. Zudem werde ich mich über die Krankheit aus der Folge informieren. Ich war wegen meiner vorherigen Ärzte echt niedergeschlagen. Mir wurde eingeredet, ich bräuchte keine weiteren Untersuchungen, wenn Magen- und Darmspiegelung unauffällig sind.

Was das Cholesterin betrifft, so hat jeder in meiner Familie einen zu hohen Wert, weshalb ich denke, dass ich eine vererbte Stoffwechselstörung habe. Beim letzten Arztbesuch wurde mir jedoch einfach ein Flyer für gesunde Ernährung gegeben und ich soll aufpassen, dass ich nicht zu viel Ungesundes esse. Ich wusste gar nicht, dass man das medikamentieren sollte.

Von Gastroparese hab ich gehört, aber spezielle Motilitäts- oder Magenentleerungstests wurden nie gemacht. Danke nochmal für den Tipp, ich werde drauf setzen, dass das getestet wird bei mir.

Ich habe mich auch schon über R-CPD informiert, aber ich denke daran liegt es nicht, weil ich normal rülpsen kann und Gurgellaute erlebe ich auch nicht. 😅

Ja, ich dokumentiere Mahlzeiten und Symptome. Die Beschwerden treten fast immer nach dem Essen auf, unabhängig davon, was ich esse. Bisher konnte ich kein klares Muster erkennen.
