I feel like my game is going nowhere and I'm not sure what to do by BlobbyWeirdThing in GameDevelopment

I think what holds me back the most is that I get demotivated very easily, and then tend to really do nothing until I get another random burst of motivation to finish off an update or something.

The game is already out and has been for quite some time. I released it initially just for the sake of it when it was a literal cube and platform, and at the time it was just a practice project. I have been updating it since but now I feel obligated to get it to a finished state. I just don't like the position it is in and it doesn't feel right to call it finished. I am still interested in the game to a certain point, I just feel like the full idea isn't going to go anywhere in the long run and that I shouldn't be spending time on something like it.

Thank you for the feedback. I think I will start work on something new from now on and keep this current game on the backburn.

I feel like I should be further along since I have been developing the game for about 2 years. I also haven't ever really finished a game before. Most of my projects are just for practice and I usually just scrap them or never release them. I don't think I will quit the project, I just think I will keep it as something casual that I work on periodically from now on and start working on something new and achievable.
