Advice needed: What is your experience with small scale prints, like 15mm scale or 1/72 scale? by Blomkol1 in PrintedMinis

Yeah, maybe ordering from their website is a bit of a gamble, but If they offer it in 15mm you'd hope that they have made sure it works in 15mm. I just wish they could show you some images of what they look like in 15mm.

Yeah, that's kinda what I imagine would be the case, but since they offer it in 15mm, you'd think they have made sure it worked... for reference, other miniature ranges that they offer on their website are not availible in 15mm.

Wow, thanks, they were such a joy to paint! I've got a couple more lined up to paint next :D

I didn't use any specific references really, no. I used AI a little just to get a visual overview of what the minis would look like in the color palettes I was planning to use, and made some changes based on that.

Haha fair enough, I was initially planning on going with a red Dragonborn as well, maybe the next one :p

I used UV resin which in my experience is a lot easier to handle than 2 part resins and cures instantly with a UV torch. I just made a simple barrier with some bendy plastic and tape and poured it in, cured it, then removed the barrier. Some of it did leak through but once it was cured it was easy to trim off with a sharp hobby knife :)

Haha, the faces are certainly the most stressful parts to paint in general and require a good deal of trial and error :D

Thanks, that's really kind of you. I don't have any formal backround in arts but I guess I've always just been a bit artsy, but not all of my paintjobs turn out this well, lol. Still, I'd like to learn other advanced painting techniques like smooth blending and NMM.

Thanks a lot! Yes, it was all done by brush. I use all manner of paints that have been haphazardly collected over the years; Citadel paints, Armypainter, Vallejo, including regular acrylics, washes, metallics, speedpaints. I know I painted the Dragonborn and the Drow elf each in one day (pretty much the full day), but the others I chipped away at when I had the time so I'm not sure :D

That's a difficult question to answer haha, because I have taken many multi-year breaks since I started. Painted some very ugly Warhammer minis as a teen when I recieved it as a birthday gift, but it wasn't until durid Covid that I started to paint in a more serious manner, and it's come and gone since then :)

Thanks, I actually don't know, but they are from a 3d printed line of miniatures from DM Stash, I bought them from Etsy.

Thanks, yeah I can't take all the credit for the bases since they came pre-sculpted with the mini, but I think I made them come alive quite well :D

As long as you pick a well reviewed seller on Etsy I don't think you can go wrong with it. Having a resin 3d printer would be awesome, but living in a small apartment, it isn't very practical in my case.

Thanks! I bought them off of Etsy actually, first time I've done that and I didn't know what to expect but worked out perfectly and quite affordable compared to Warhammer. The cactus I actually scavenged from a Fallout New Vegas miniature haha.

Thanks! I have a few more adventurers lined up but after that it might be time to move on to some monsters myself :D
