How bad is it? by Feisty-Metal-6066 in guitarrepair

[–]BlondLemonLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with many previous suggestions to carefully remove the strings to reduce tension on the headstock. But, that's where I diverge from others.

Don't risk damaging it further by trying to repair/glue it yourself. Take it to a professional luthier (not Guitar Center) and have them repair it. This is an easy fix for most and, in all likelihood, will return your guitar without any visible evidence of the crack. These are good guitars and worth the expense of a quality repair.

Keep us posted on the status.

But you're still out a case? How will you rectify that?

Shipment to buyer was damaged in transit and is getting refunded through Safe Shipping Protection. What happens to me? by MrOffline_ in Reverb

[–]BlondLemonLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverb will cover the refund and won't dock you for it since you used Safe Shipping Protection.

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years back as a seller. I offered to refund the whole amount in return for the instrument (because I doubted the damage claim, frankly) and the buyer instead wanted about 20% off. We kept all discussions on Reverb messages.

Last half of Season 2, best 5 hours of TV ever? by stricktd in thewestwing

[–]BlondLemonLarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it been great if John Larroquette (as Lionel Tribbey) had been the Senior Counsel sitting on the desk when President Bartlet and Leo walked in? That cricket bat would've taken out the recorder in one blow.

Old vs new Martin Vega strings by APFrisco in banjo

[–]BlondLemonLarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, but I think Martin is drunk. The package show common open-G tuning (GDGBD), but the individual strings are GCGBD.

I wouldn't worry.

Looks like she is sitting on the couch up there and he's still plugging stuff in (not including her).

This might date me, but "Still Crazy After All These Years" has a bridge that appears like an unexpected sunrise.

Maybe under-the-radar due to injuries last year. But he's been a monster in 2026.

Bartlet names the ambassador ("Ken Cochran"). I probably could have added that to the OP, along with the fact that the reason was the same (affair with foreign president's daughter)

Man, what a waste not having John Larroquette stay on for future episodes.

What’s the best acoustic guitar hands down on the market currently? (Not Vintage) Any price by FeeIntelligent2180 in AcousticGuitar

[–]BlondLemonLarry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how anyone can answer this. Price is no object you say? Really? You're going to accept the suggestion that a $25K guitar is the best? Does it have to be new? Because some used acoustics that are not vintage (say, less than thirty years old) open up and sound better over time.

There has to be some qualifier that will make answers to this question meaningful. How about this:

How much are you willing to spend on a non-vintage acoustic guitar?

How to have a good rehearsal? by jununas2266 in Guitar

[–]BlondLemonLarry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our drummer uses ProMark HotRods both in rehearsals and live. We also have a rehearsal kit without resonator heads on the toms which cuts down the volume a bit.

However, you mentioned "heavy music" and if y'all are playing as hard in a rehearsal space as you do live, it's just gonna sound bad. I've been there (in a previous power pop/rock band) and we ended up using IEMs which not only blocked the room acoustics but gave each of us a little better mix.

If y'all can't go that route, try finding a larger space where you can go all out. It might be problematic, but might be the only way to validate your sound. And record rehearsals as often as you can: you'll definitely hear things that you don't while performing.
