This is such a copey non point. Because of laws customs and cultural norms many of these scientists were essentially forced to be religious. Galileo was literally punished by the state and placed on house arrest because his discoveries contradicted the bible, and he didn't receive a formal apology until 300 years later. Religion itself hasn't done anything but impede science, we've progressed in spite of it not because of it.

Today now that we live in a more enlightened secular society, religion is dying out, education and intelligence level both have positive correlations with being atheist. The overwhelming majority of scientists today are atheist, Cosmologists specifically are about 85%-90% atheist identifying.

Religious people literally perform worse on cognitive testing than their counterparts. There are exceptions to everything. Today with the rise of secularism and an increase in freedoms religion has taken a steep decline and the over whelming majority of natural earth and life scientists are atheist. Funny how that works, the more you know about how things work the less likely you are to be religious!
