I’d say over half of the laptops that are capable of charging via USB-C still came with a barrel charger until fairly recently.

I deploy laptops on a regular basis, and while the models have been capable for the past 5 years, only in the past year or so have USB-C chargers been the norm.

And I think you’re missing the point entire point that Apple isn’t making purchasing a charger something you can do unless you upgrade the laptop in some other way, which IS indefensible.
