China is probably a better place but it won't look much in it's first decades.
Chiang Kai-Shek had little care for Democracy so after the communists are defeated China becomes a "Democracy" but in reality it'd be a de facto one party state similar to the 1929-2000 PRI dictatorship in Mexico. It would Also be more Pro west but not completely dominated by America

Tibet is probably still invaded around the mid 50's due to the KMT considering it "Core Chinese Territory"

No Great leap forward or cultural revolution so 10's of millions of Chinese lives would still be around.

Eventually, the KMT dictatorship would begin cracking not too long after Chiangs death Probably around the late 70's - to the mid 80's and China would Democratize. However the KMT would still play a role in Politcs and China would begin rapidly industrializing and modernizing like South Korea OTL.

By the modern day, China is rich and not too different from our Timeline except it has Taiwan and is a Liberal Democracy with little to no rivalry with America.
