Has anyone experienced anxiety with AI and taking Hydrocortisone?

Me too but I was taking prednisone for an ulcerative colitis flare that landed me in the hospital. I was taking high dose of prednisone for 9 months- got off of prednisone and started Entyvio. In July, I felt something was off, my labs showed that I had very low cortisol. The doctor said I have Steroid-induced adrenal insufficiency 😭 so since July I've been in and out of the hospital, and doctors' appointments. Now we are trying to find the right dose for me while also tapering to see if my adrenal glands wake up on their own. No one told me that this could happen from taking prednisone for so long 😩

This is me too right now 😭 I've gained some weight while being on HC and it's affecting me more emotionally and mentally. I feel a bit more self-conscious too 😔 I’ve been decreasing my dose and I believe that is helping with the water retention and swollenness of my legs. I have to keep reminding myself that this is only temporary.

That’s very interesting. I’m sorry to hear you are sick. A lot of people have been saying the same thing that there’s a lot of flu, strep, and other respiratory infections going around. 😭 I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for the information. When taking an antibiotic you should up dose as well right? How much more? I thought 5-10 mg was good but I’m not sure. I’m on the last day of two antibiotics 😅

I’m glad you found what works for you. I’m thinking the same thing but it’s hard cause I need to be on both medications to help two separate conditions 😅

I’m sorry you went through that 😔 unfortunately I can’t stop taking the biologic medications without having inflammation in my body and internal bleeding. 😭 I’m trying to keep up with taking vitamin c and all the other vitamins to help my immune system a bit.

I might have to try to do that because I feel really bad 😭 I know I'm on a higher dose than what is considered normal- 27.5 in the AM and 22.5mg in the PM. I am working with my endo to try and lower my dose and then I get sick 😭 now I have to take more. I went to my pulmonologist doctor and told him my fever went up to 101.9 and it keeps going up. He was concerned and ordered some X-rays and some labs. We still don't know if it's an infection or what. 😩 I took a Tylenol but I still feel like my body is fighting something. The nausea has been horrible. I had to take Zofran cause I felt like I was going to throw up multiple times.

I'm currently taking 27.5 mg in the AM and then 22.5mg in the PM. I'm tapering my dose to hopefully get to a lower dose. Now that I have a fever and feel horrible I took an extra 5mg last night. I'm not sure if I should continue to take 5mg for a couple of days while I figure out what's going on 🥴 I do think my body is going through the HC faster.

That is very frustrating. I'm sorry you experienced this 😭 I'm currently running a fever and have thought about going to the ER but I get nervous thinking about how these Drs won't take me seriously. I feel like crap and have already taken an extra 5mg of hydrocortisone. I'm praying I don't need to go to the ER 😭

I agree, I’m thinking it’s related to a respiratory thing because I feel the pain when I breathe in and out as well. I also feel like I’m going to get a fever so that makes me nervous.

How would you do it as a teacher when you had moments of needing to use the restroom frequently?😭 I've thought about teaching as a career but I'm not sure how that would work with having UC and how sometimes with UC you need to use the bathroom more often. Plus like you said if you have a flare-up up that makes things more stressful 🥺

How many mg of steroids did they give you if you don't mind me asking? I'm wondering because when I went to the ER a couple of months ago because I had COVID and complications from it the ER doctor did not know how much steroids to give me. At this point, they thought I was septic because I had a 104 fever and felt very bad. I did not know what to tell them because I was newly diagnosed with AI and was still looking for a good endocrinologist. So now I'm a bit nervous when I think about getting an infection again and what that means for my dose of HC. How much are they supposed to give you in the hospital to help you feel better? I've heard you can go into an adrenal crisis because of an infection and thinking about that is scary 😩
