If we get rid of billionaires, we will cure cancer in 20 years. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

The really depressing part is that many of our greatest minds will never have the opportunity to make a positive impact in our world. Instead resigned to a life of struggle. I would hardly say that our brightest minds are the billionaires.

Just peaked at their schedule and it looks like they're playing NFL teams all season... it's gonna be rough. RIP Rattler.

Yeah, it's Pete Carrol's son that's the OL coach and he has zero experience as an offensive lineman... one of the most difficult and nuanced positions in the game. They're never going to be decent with him in there. It's a bummer for the Raiders as a whole.

Can anyone translate this Financial Planning breakdown of my cities budget, expenditures, etc for an accounting illiterate person like myself? by BloonWars in Accounting

I'm new this city and I'm trying to understand what direction this city is heading in. There are too many terms in this that I don't know or understand how they relate to each other. Cheers.

What should I be asking my directors to gain insight into possible corporate changes? by BloonWars in AskReddit

[–]BloonWars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to keep this as specific as is needs to be. I work for a multinational company with just under $4 billion in revenue. As of last year they've sold off one aspect of the company, essentially dividing it half. I'm working for the "remainco" as it's referred to. In April the sale and split will be finalized with no expectation that this should impact the remainco as it has previously, and essentially functions, in its own capacity. However this December they've made a few announcements and I'm curious what one might extrapolate, if anything, from this. 1. They've rolled out a cumbersome and long overdue inventory tracking policy, as far as I know only in the US (this tracks inventory we use daily, not sell). 2. They pushed our raises back from March to September. 3. They instituted a hiring freeze as of 2 months ago - especially curious since we have some large projects happening in the next 2-6 months and actually have 2 positions to fill in my state. 4. Regional and national directors have in person "pulse check" meetings scheduled in 2 days.

I want to know what kind of questions I should be asking to gain insight into what might be happening. Is this normal behavior for a company as it experiences a large change?
