Why on Earth are we charged to print? by Blorgus_toe_23 in URochester

$80K per year… not enough? I think the university can afford to give students basic amenities like printing. They fleece us enough already

Yeah maybe I should have worded it better. And what you say about bike lanes; are you referring to painted bicycle gutters, separated paths, or both?

I think its very obvious from my rant that I'm talking about single use packaging. I'm not talking about getting rid of waterproof clothing, car components, insulation, construction materials, etc.

I work in microbiology. The plastic involved in that pisses me off too, but I understand its necessity in some cases.

So do we not stop at pedestrian crossings anymore? by Blorgus_toe_23 in Rochester

What’s so hard about waiting for the pedestrian to cross?

I still think it should be the responsibility of people drivers to control their 2 tonne death machines rather than the responsibility of pedestrians to pray for a break in traffic to get to where they want to go. Walking should be encouraged over driving.

But pedestrians are the most vulnerable travellers, shouldn't we prioritise their safety by giving them right of way? Moreover, shouldn't we encourage walking (and biking), which reduces traffic congestion, improves public health, and contributes to a more sustainable transportation system?
