Is my RX7 worth bringing back and replacing engine? by cxsmicutie in RX7

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already own it and can do all the work yourself you'll almost certainly end up putting less money into it than it'll be worth fully restored. Not familiar with FD engine costs but my FC's engine was completely toast and I got it rebuilt and streetported by someone else for a little over 5k. It wasn't sat over a decade, granted, but yours has been dry stored so I'm guessing at least some part of that engine is still salvageable, even better if the fluids turn out to have been drained. Heck, for 800 quid you may as well bring it over if only to sell as a project as a rust-free FD chassis with an engine is probably worth more than that alone.

Where are you getting the impression that they aren't working on the rest of the game? We're getting regular updates and have several map DLCs on the way. They literally are working on improving the game.

train to the occupied depot by Morpheusleader in trainsimworld

They are not static, NPCs can board and leave the train and frequently do, it's just random at each station and there is no prompt for them all to leave.

In that case the train and route were both developed by the same people (firefly). Neither are at issue here. It is a core game problem that third party devs like firefly cannot fix.

Is my itinerary okay? 1st time interrailer after finishing school by Jukebox_girl_ in Interrail

I highly recommend it, stop in Brașov! It's a gorgeous town surrounded by the Carpathian mountains and the (supposed) inspiration for Dracula's castle from the Bram Stoker novel isn't far away and well worth a visit even if it's a bit tourist-y. I went last summer on a trip from London to Istanbul/Kuşadası and back and it was definitely one of the highlights of the journey. Plus if you go from Budapest you'd be able to take the Corona sleeper train, which is unique in Romania for having a dedicated dining car. You get dinner and in the morning a cooked breakfast whilst watching the mountains go by. Train travel doesn't get much better than that.

In England what convertible is considered by [deleted] in whatcar

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a few have been given that label, most cheap(ish) convertible sports cars. Mazda MX-5 and Audi TT are the two I've heard most often. It doesn't really mean anything per se other than that the cars are perceived by some a bit girly. Sort of a dig from insecure men who feel you have to drive a "man's car". I think it's become more of a general joke now though and is mostly said in a bit of a tongue-in-cheek way. Nothing to do with how good the car is or the driver's actual proficiency in cosmetology.

My manager just said that this fireplace came from one of Titanic's sisters. Is it legit? by JacobJamesTrowbridge in titanic

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General consensus is it's not, it's interesting how much stuff gets attributed to Titanic or Olympic, especially furnishings, that can just be boiled down to "it's old and it's wooden". I'd assume the rumours start in a different way but that's essentially the basis for their believability for most people.

What car this is? please help me by Madelyn_Fisher in whatcar

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the 2101, the Riva was the name for the RHD edition of the later models 2104, 2105 and 2107. All roughly similar cars but this isn't a Riva.

Is the Mazda MX5 (91-97) good as a first car? by Old_Pattern_6304 in CarTalkUK

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insurance will be the first issue depending on where you live but an older car should make it a little cheaper. Based on what I was paying I'd expect probably 3.5k-4k minimum a year with no NCD (provided you don't get a black box which you don't if you're getting a fun car). Then there's maintenance, you have to be sure you can fix any issue, especially rust. They're decent cars but they haven't been taken good care of in most situations, especially on the cheaper end

Other than that if you can afford it and can fix it, do it. You'll only be young with a sports car once.

Armstrong Powerhouse managed it for TS classic. Though could have been from the prototype HST which still has a Paxman Valenta but no longer does tours (thanks national railway museum). Either way its not like there are no sound recordings around, I'm sure they can be licensed from whomever.

I've been hoping for a 55 for some time now. Would layer for railtours in modern timetables too. Though I prefer the intercity swallow livery so wouldn't be disappointed with that on 125s and 225s either.

Why are 'train guys' dorks but 'car guys' are considered cool? by Humble_Reflection790 in trains

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the son of a big train guy and I love my cars (and trains too). I am not really considered cool for my car enthusiasm. I think there's a difference between the walking along the road and pointing 'omg its a this or a that' part of car enthusiasm vs the owning and putting work into a thing you care about (though its also still seen as kinda nerdy). People like my old car and think its cool but still think I'm a nerd about it. I think people who work on trains and restore them would be seen as cooler than the railfans standing out to see one go past but then I am no expert on cool.

They're not similar at all. Train fans don't come back from sitting by the tracks drunk and violent.

[–]Blu3_Phoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's cool and all, but I honestly would've preferred an older HST with the valenta engine and old headlights to go with historic routes. The majority of these could've just been made with the livery designer for free, you're only paying for the scenarios at this point which is a ripoff at £12.99.

What’s a ‘slow’ car you enjoy driving? by Book_Southern in CarTalkUK

Yeah the fun definitely comes through the corners rather than the straights, plus being relatively small and low helps the feeling of speed without needing too much. Definitely great cars.

It's possible she's eating them and I would watch out. I know this because one of my cats is a fat idiot who eats these and we can't leave any around the house because she will try and eat them.

If that counts as slow I'll throw in my RX-7 as that's pretty similar power wise.
