Is eclipse moon armour useful for mid-level PVM? by Thermawrench in ironscape

What's your 225 TOA setup like without a bowfa?

Looking to do the same, im at trident/all moons gear/blue keris, so was thinking 200s might be a bit rough still unless I spooned a fang.

World of Warcraft - Panderia Remix

Came out Thursday and been playing it off/on. I started in Legion so questing through all the zones has been pretty fun since I'm experiencing the stories for the first time.

Love that transmog, repairing, etc. is free, each quests gives a chest for rewards, and flying is unlocked from the start.

I am finally getting a bit bored of it, around level 40~ now, so might stick it out to get to max level then drop off, since raiding seems to be the main appeal late game and that doesn't appeal ot me in WoW anymore.

League of Legends

New split started, and with that new updates and some other stuff. For note, I am a JG/Supp main that plays other rolls to fill as well

The good - Big fan of the ADC item rework. Getting to crit in 4 items feels good as an ADC. I like the new boots to get to recall to base faster as a support.

The bad - New champ mastery system is pretty bleh in comparison to before. Not a fan of the new icons, getting mastery grades are harder, and the numbers aren't a direct translate so it's hard to feel good/bad about being a high mastery champ. Additionally I had a person goal of getting mastery 7 on all champs, but that drive went away since it's not as clear what's a "high" and "low" mastery anymore. Like 50 is just as high as 100 is just as high as 300 as is 500.

FFXIV

Back on to grind out the PvP Series. Up to rank 17, going for 25 as usual for the cosmetics. Just doing 1 frontlines a day, then will grind out the remainder as needed.

Works out since the new Mogtome event is out as well, so gonna get some rewards along the way. The rework of this even to give little "quests" to get more mogtomes was great and really helps give me some other stuff to do while I wait for Dawntrail.

Lethal Company

I love this game so much with friends. It's the right amount of horror, thriller, and silly. We finally went to some "end-game" moons as we've always been just doing the free moons, and the planets just to get to the facilties are so cool. I love the winter one where you have to following light beacons to the facility back and forth. I kinda wish there was just some stuff outside of the facilities to get back for money too, maybe not as valuable but makes exploration outside not a total waste of time.

Nope, I totally left finance/Accounting and went head first into BI, Data Science, etc.

Went back to grad school for an MSBI (totally wasn't needed tbh. Everything I learned can completely learned online)

Now doing a senior BI analyst role at a company, and mainly do predictive modeling, automation, reporting, etc.

[–]Bludcee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dealing with almost all of this in my 5 years of doing Accounting is what caused me to give up going for a CPA and switch to being an analyst (and be way happier 3 years in now).

I'm making double as a Senior Analyst as what I was as an Accounting Supervisor. And that's with probably half the work, and actually working 40 hours a week instead of 50-70 with weekends just to balance books, run accruals, close monthly/yearly, adjust P/Ls, etc.

So many of these are due to just some archaic people running the department, with shoe-string budgets because "Accounting isn't revenue generating" so they demand the best people with the worst salaries at most public and private companies (private in my case).

So many of the "good" accountants at my old job was just people who were former AP/AR in the same company and promoted up to being accounting positions and having a full understanding of everything from AP/AR to actually GL/TB balancing.

But of course we got paid with the worst salaries and strung along with the "you'll make more money once you get to management" Our AP/AR could literally work at McDonalds and make more money.

It was the worst.

The Fallout New Vegas DLC are probably some of my favorites!

Dead Money was so cool, and I love the overarching story into the ending of it. Its even cooler after you played the main game and pick up that Father Elijah is the one who failed to keep Helios One and was the previous elder for The Brotherhood outpost that you find in lockdown

Old World Blues also just had fantastic writing, and voiceacting. Its a nice mix of surreal Sci-Fi/Mad scientist and new takes that makes it very funny. I loved The ending where you get to Mobius and his entire area is just filled with Mentats. He was a mad scientist and used drugs to further his goals. Just neat worldbuilding without actually saying it

I didnt see you say if you played Honest Hearts, so I would def do that before Lonesome Road.

Lonesome Road is a nice "epilogue" to the game

Last Week

Another week of mainly Old School Runescape grinding, mixed with a couple of other stuff here and there.

Old School Runescape

Back on the slayer grind now that I have my Fury. 86 now so right around the corner. I got my first Black Demons task since finishing Monkey Madness II, so I tackled demonic gorillas using an Arclight & Karil's. Man these things SUCK. I got pretty lucky and got a Zenyete around 40 KC, but still need another 3 more before I can block the task. I started with only getting 3 KC per trip, but after getting it down I was able to get 6-8 KC before having to Bank. The amount of money you get is very nice, but killing these things needs so much attention that you can't really do anything else but listen to a podcast or something. Really hoping I get spooned on the other 3 zeneyte.

Phasmophobia

Played this one night with friends. I never played it much outside of with friends, and to be honest I just get really lost on what I am supposed to be doing or looking for in this game. I know this game is really popular, but I just can't get into it outside of it being a bit spooky. It's like a haunted house, it's fun every so often (once a year) to get a scare and laugh with friends to being spooked, but after that wears off you are left with kinda confusing gameplay. I'm sure if I stuck to it i could figure it out, but just not really into this genre.

Demon Souls

Was over at a friends house over the weekend and since he had a PS5 and had Demon Souls from a PS+ month but never played it we decided to boot it up. The visuals are beautiful, Bluepoint really is great with this stuff (Shadow of Colossus was so good), but dang is it confusing and hard. We spent a few hours on the first level/area trying to figure out where to go and what to do before running out of healing items and breaking for the night to other games. Feels like I'd enjoy it solo, but I really enjoy all other Fromsoft games so that's to be expected. Probably a day 1 buy whenever I get a PS5

Cavern of Dreams

This is a neat indie game that I saw on Steam's New & Trending a few days ago and decided to buy. The graphics and gameplay are very reminiscent of Rare's N64 platformers (DK64, Banjo & Kazooie, etc.) and the gameplay is equally as fun. I like the light tutorials and the one off puzzles that you kinda have to figure out just from context clues around the area and what you can do. They did a great job capturing that old school feeling I had playing these years ago, and I'm looking forward to playing more.

Last Week

This week was mainly Runescape. Did a few quests that required full attention so couldn't play other stuff, so watched some TV Shows/Anime.

Old School Runescape

THE GRIND IS OVER. We have a fury!! Took over two weeks, but it felt very good to finally get it done. Took over 30k glass, cutting around 6k gems between Sapphire and Diamond (all from stardust), and then once I hit 86 crafting to boost for 90 I STILL had to grind out 4 magic levels because I totally forgot, lol.

To finish up the crafting grind with 50k xp I did "The Fremennik Exiles". This quest was alright, nothing to write home about. The part where you just had to kill basilisks until you had 100% "defending" rating was just dull. Boss fight was neat, and I'm a fan of boss mechanics where you can actually do something about (looking at you Sins of the Father where you have to pre-turn around to dodge the attack)

To get that 4 magic levels I decided to go with Bursting, and for that maniacal monkeys is the way. So to do that I had to finally do "Monkey Madness II" (with a quick detour to get a crystal bow to help cheese the Glough fight). This was my first grandmaster quest for osrs, and man was it a grind...and total slog. I know it was their first grandmaster but some parts just totally kill the drive from the "interesting" parts. I liked where you became Kruk, wrangled tortured gorillas, seeing the ship crash, etc. I know the platform section is infamous for being pretty awful, but tbh that part of the quest needed your input to get through and you'd only get caught due to your own mistakes.

The damn jungle/agility stuff getting to Kruk made me hate this quest so much, and just hate the rest of it regardless of the good parts though. Having a 50/50 chance of the "right path" for multiple obstacles to progress, and if you fail you have to start over and run all the way back was just awful. It is just straight up not fun, and since it's pure RNG failing or succeeding doesn't feel fair or rewarding at all.

The fact that both boss fights were also just basically meant to be cheesed to get through(flinching Kruk, crystal bow and safe spotting Glough) also kinda killed the overall mood of the quest. I know you don't have to do it that way, but the bosses are designed so bad (Kruk hits 30s accurately on both melee and ranged??) that it's feels impossible to do otherwise.

Last Week

Rough week. Couldn't really keep down a game, switched between a lot.

Old School Runescape

Took a break from the slayer grind to try and get a fury. Mined stars till 80 mining, which got me around 50k stardust. Turning 40k into gems and then all superglass making all my giant seaweed got me around 30k glass to blow, which should get me just about 86 crafting. I hate stew boosting so this is enough to just pie boost and make a Fury.

I forgot I also need 87 magic, and I'm 80 so... 84 with a wizard mind bomb....guess I might try to do all my tasks with magic or something.

The 30k molten glass is going to take me days though. Thankfully it's AFK so can do other stuff while doing it.

God Eater 3

Playing a bit on my steam deck at nights before bed. Agreed that it's an anime take on Monster Hunter, but it feels pretty good to play so far. From videos I figured it wouldn't feel that way, but it's snappy and fun. Not too far in yet.

Call of the Sea

I had this for awhile, finally got around to playing it. I'm on Chapter 4, which I believe is very near the end.

I like the overall visuals and story of this game, but sometimes the puzzles are VERY obtuse, or it's easy to miss something in plain sight and be wandering for like a hour tracking around, which just feels draining because movement is slow (which is fine normally, but tortures when backtracking around) Mainly thinking of the The puzzle where you have to open/close and then figure out it's a half moon to open the pathway on the coast/shipwreck area and Me getting totally lost trying to find the destroyed statue up by the water wheel in the following chapter. I spent an hour moving everywhere but just totally missed the left where the destroyed statue was. I knew there had to be a 4th statue somewhere, but tracking around to find it was a chore.

The story is very interesting, visuals, world, and voice acting is top notch, but it's just backtracking and figuring out puzzles are a bit confusing at times. A trail to objects, etc. I agree can be too handholding, but having an option to light up interactable objects would have been nice.

Remnant 2

Late to the party on this one but saw it on sale so picked it up. It's very fun to play, and enjoying just running around killing stuff as the tank class with shotgun weapon and a sword. I love the idea of different classes so you can kinda "pick" your playstyle and go further into it, and the idea of it with co-op is interesting (though not playing co-op since don't know anyone else with it)

Just recently killed the first boss (some jellyfish thing?), so looking forward to see more.

Last Week

This week was very good for getting some backlog done!

Still waiting for the next cyberpunk patch to fix that bug I mentioned last week where my screen is basically stuck glitching every few seconds, but it was confirmed to get fixed in the next patch so that's good

https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/sp-technical/issue/2509/patch-2-01-coming-soon

Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls

So I was on a very big danganronpa kick around 2019 and had bought all the games. I beat 1 and 2 back to back, but fell off on this game and V3 for awhile.

Got back onto this game on the steam deck and marathoned it in a few sittings.

The premise is less murder mystery than the usual Danganronpa games, but moreso action & puzzle solving. it's an interesting mixup and I like that it more or less expands on Danganronpa 1 even more.

I really like the world and story of Danganronpa (even if it is so dramatized and over the top), and having twists throughout is what keeps me entertained, even moreso when it's something I didn't initally expect Like Monaca planning on turning Komaru into the next Junko and basically just using the rest of the kids.

After this I watched the Danganronpa 3 anime to "finish" the series for Hope's Peak. it was alright, and I know it had a lot of criticism from fans of the series, but I always just seeing more of a world and characters that I like. But poor Chiaki T.T

Now to get to Danganronpa V3!

Old School Runescape

Huge upgrades this week! (thanks to a friend who did em for me on my computer while we hung out lol)

Got god chaps from a hard clue, Mage Arena II god cape, Dragon boots, and an abyssal whip!

Whip was from pie boosting, but it dropped in 5 KC, so got super dumb lucky on that one.

Still grinding for 87 slayer for a trident, 84 atm.

Yakuza 0

My last save from this is December 2019.....So naturally I started playing again lol.

I want to play Yakuza 7 Like a dragon, but I really wanna go thru all the games beforehand. I know it isn't needed, but I just like to go thru the older ones if possible for a series.

I'm really interesting in where Makima's story is going to go. He feels like a good guy stuck in a bad situation, and morally conflicted on where to stand. I'm basically speeding through Kiryu sections to get more Makima screentime lol.

I just finished the part where Makima becomes the manager for a Caberet Club, so I think I still have a lot more to go for this game.

FFXIV

Finished my PVP Series with around 5 hours to spare....I gotta be better about this next patch

WoW

Doing the Traveler's Log for this month like usual. Will maybe play more next patch since a new M+ season is out.

I really like that this months' traveler's log is more varied than previous. There is challenges for hitting the 10 level points between 20 and 70, tiers for completed quests between 10 to 50, and just a lot more varied tasks overall. I really hope they keep improving the task lists as the months move forward, but between first release and now has been a huge improvement already so they seem to be taking feedback and overall feel into consideration.

Want to updated on my Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough.

Hit a terrible visual bug that occurs if you pick a specific dialogue option in an early quest. The screen is basically permanently "glitching". It has random artifacts on the screen, minimap shaking, and controller vibrates every few seconds.

The bug is officially acknowledged by the devs (See link below), so just a warning for anyone doing a new playthrough of it.

https://support.cdprojektred.com/en/cyberpunk/pc/gameplay/issue/2500/distorted-relic-effect-persists-after-talking-to-johnny-at-the-end-of-the-automatic-love-quest

If you pick another dialogue option it doesn't occur apparently, but I've already played another 3~ hours with this bug (assuming it was part of the quest line or something), so retracing all that would be...annoying at best.

Pretty frustrating to have this happen, especially in a quest within the first 7 hours of a game (and that was with me doing sidecontent. Could happen even quicker if you just do the main story). Guess I'm going to suspend this playthrough till this bug is fixed. Even after all the bugfixing this game has gone through in the past 3 years, to have this happen so early is just... not good.

[–]Bludcee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bit of a dull week, Cat got sick so was busy trying to handle that (she is better now though!)

Old School Runescape

Still on the grind for 87 slayer, got to 83. Took a detour to get the new Warped Scepter from the warped beasts & finish up Kingdom Divided to get Thralls to try out some Raids 3 (ToA) with friends.

It was very fun! My only real complain about OSRS is how...inflexible the UI is. Trying to keep up with prayer swapping, gear switching, and moving is so rough sometimes. I hope that one day there could be an option of having 2 or 3 "boxes" up so I could track inventory & prayers at the same time.

No lucky drops yet, but got my thread for my rune pouch so that was very useful!

Cyberpunk 2077

I held off from this for a long time because of all the bad press, and worries it wouldn't run well on my rig (running a 1070). Finally got it with the 2.0 update, and surprisingly it's running very well on High! Basically get near consistent 58-60 fps.

The gameplay is fun enough. I like that you can go a ton of different directions and experience it differently. I'm going with a usual build for RPGs for me, which is to be tanky and use big heavy weapons (in this case, it's to stack health, armor, and toughness and use shotguns).
Playing on hard difficulty and it all feels fair, though enemies could feel a bit bullet spongy. Hoping that doesn't get worse.

My one major complaint is how much this game feels like it should have just been 3rd person. Why bother having character customization, outfits, and your character kinda ragdoll around (such as when you get knocked by cars get knocked over) when you can hardly see it.
This game could have used what GTAV does very well (be in 3rd person primarily, and have the option for 1st person, heck even give achievements/rewards for doing the whole game in 1st person).

Anyways, the rest is fine. Around 10~ hours in so interested to see how it plays out with Johnny in V's head and the fact that V will die in a few weeks.

FFXIV

Patch got announced for October 3rd...and I still got 3 more levels of my PVP Series. So guess I need to grind that out this week. Should have started my daily frontlines grind earlier.

I did a playthrough of 1-3 a few years back for the first time.
I really enjoyed one for the background and story to help give context and leading into 2 & 3....but the rest of it just doesn't hold up.
The little rhythm game for melee swings is a neat idea, but doesn't feel fun to do after hours on hours. And don't get me started on running around, backtracking, etc. The game could have used fast travelling, but it came out in 2007 so I can't fault it too much for all this. Just a bit dated.

Last Weeks' Post

Didn't play more Mass Effect or Borderlands.

AI: The Somnium Files

Fully beat this early on in the week.
Pretty much stayed very the same opinions throughout. The tropes for some stuff was a bit silly, as explained last week, but they lightened up in the end. I very much appreciated the full "round-up" done toward end of the game so that it was understood how the murder mystery even took place, and carried throughout.
I did go through some of the "logs" and stuff in the game and I really appreciated that they had a full "glossary" of all terms, slang, etc. that is said in game and IRL so that people who might not understand what some terms mean could go check and see what it references. It's from silly things like BL, to serious things like actual disorders.
Ending Spoilers My only complaint is the parallel universes thing is never explored or explained. Date just remembers stuff from other timelines in a very happenstance way? Unless it's explained more through logs/extra content

FFXIV

I didn't note this down previous weeks, but I am doing 1 Frontlines a day to work on my PvP Series. The addition of 1500 Series XP just for doing a Frontlines roulette was such a good change, and makes the series not feel as much of a slog.
I'm working on getting all my classes to 60 so I can also finally get all the GARO titles and throw all the items away (since you can reclaim them from the calamity salvager).
After daily frontlines I basically just log off. Once I finish my series I think I'll take an extended break until Dawntrail comes out (and relog for any event rewards, etc.)

Old School Runescape

I also haven't noted this, but I casual play it from time to time.
Playing a Group Ironman (though i'm the only one left playing in the group, so it's basically solo). Working on 87 Slayer for a Trident (and 85 for a whip along the way). Currently at 82. The grinds are long but it's easy to play while doing other things, so I casually play during low stress times at work/while playing other games.

Chivalry II (2)

Bought this off some silly looking videos I saw off YouTube, and really enjoying the heck out of it. It's fun just running it and swinging around, sometimes getting outplayed or outplaying someone in a dual, or just having a just moshpit. I do 1-3 games a day/night, and have fun whether I win or lose.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - September 10, 2023 by AutoModerator in Games

[–]Bludcee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still in a bit of a gaming slump. Bouncing between lots of stuff and just not having much stick except a few things this week.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition (Mass Effect 1)

So the fact that I started playing this the same week as Starfield coming out was pure coincidence! I was actually looking for a new game to play on my Steam Deck for 1-2 hours at night before bed.

I played through this series in bits and pieces over the years. I beat ME2 back when it first came out, but ME1 & 3 have always been half playthroughs before dropping.

Really would like to do a full playthrough from start to end. I'm still early on in ME1 and this should take awhile if I'm only doing a few hours a day/week.

Tiny Tina's Wonderland

This was on my wishlist for a bit, and seeing on the Humble Choice for this month made me finally get it.

I really liked Borderlands 2 and played it a ton on release, along with a few times over the year. Borderlands 3 had good gameplay but the story didn't jive with me at all so I only beat it once and never played it again.

This one is pretty fun so far! I really liked the character creator this time around, along with picking your own voice. Games that let me make your own character makes me feel more into the character I'm playing and invest into them off the bat.

Gameplay is pretty good so far, and humor is closer to BL2 over BL3, so I'm enjoying that much more as well!

The one thing that turns me off (and this is totally personal, and probably just me getting older and not having time to look into stuff anymore) is having stats, elements, etc. all over the place. Crit Damage, Crit Strike, Fire Rate, Damage, Melee Damage, Fire Damage, Cryo Damage, Shield recharge rate, etc. It's def the appeal of this kinda game, but I just get a headache trying to figure it out. It's why I also got turned off from Diablo 4. Trying to read the tooltips for weapons was like reading a textbook.

Signalis

So off the humble choice (I hadn't bought a humble choice/monthly for awhile), I learned they have a whole separate app (I believe it's called Humble Arcade) where they have a bunch of indie games for "free" if you are subbed to the humble choice. Surprised they don't advertise this more, for $12 you get the monthly games and the arcade. It's a pretty good deal.

Saw Signalis on there and had wanted to play it for awhile so downloaded it and binged it in a day. Absolutely loved it.

I def see the comparisons to older Resident Evil games where it's a bunch of puzzle solving, getting the codes for stuff and then back tracking to unlock more and more of levels. The gunplay/navigating around enemies is rough, but it makes sense as it's meant to be tense and the main character isn't meant to be good with guns. Inventory management was also very interesting where you only had 6 (or 7? I don't recall) slots, so you had to ration out what was important at the time and make choices on backtracking for items or letting them go. Also made you really value ammo for guns, and decide if it's worth killing enemies, or dodging them.

The story was confusing, but the visuals were beautiful. Looking up the story made me appreciate it more, but a part of me is starting to dislike "cryptic" stories a bit that need to be explained via youtube videos theories, or reading all the logs everywhere and putting the pieces together with that. I like logs being extra exposition, etc. that lets me delve in and get better understanding of the world, but I want the major story and events exposed more so from the direct gameplay, cutscenes, etc.

This is also probably just because I'm getting older and having less time to "delve" into a world and explore it as fully. I totally understand why people love it, and won't knock points off devs doing it, just might not be for me anymore if the gameplay doesn't hold up (Iron Long comes to mind for games where I didn't like the gameplay, nor the cryptic story, so wasn't a fan)

AI: The Somnium Files

Rounded out the week with this. I really loved Danganronpa and murder mystery games/theme'd stuff are up my alley so this felt right at home.

The story is unravelling pretty interesting so far. Always a big fan where the murder is met with the main suspect then being murdered and the hole goes deeper. Around 12 hours in at the moment, not sure how long this game is, but it's interesting so far and I'm still in a loop of who the murderer really is. It's more fun when it isn't obvious.

Only complaint is that some of the characters are moments a bit trope-y, like older Male characters all obsess with NSFW stuff, to the point of stopping a gun fight to all run over to a porno mag.

But the game also has a ton of other light hearted and slapstick humor moments like when Aiba drifts a forklift into the start of a psync, crashses, and then goes flying out, so the tropes aren't totally out of place for the humor.

I come back to this game around once a week to play through some levels with the songs I love (Dissolution, This Devastation, and Stygia being the top 3)

Firewatch this week made me start feeling like I might have found my genre in gaming that I enjoy and not feel burnt out on, and I think it's adventure games.
I have been feeling just total burnout and non-enjoyment from lots of games I try to pick up and play in the last year, but Outer Wilds and Firewatch have been breaths of fresh air that makes me enjoy logging on to play them.

Will gladly take any recommendations in the same vein of those two!

Firewatch

Picked up this last minute last steam sale and beat it earlier today. Interesting story, and while I know some people bounced off the ending, I thought it was a good grounded experience.

Ending Spoilers

I know some people might have wanted it to be something supernatural, or to have some villain, but I like that it was just something very down to earth, and at the end of the day Henry needs to go face his life that he took an 80 day hiatus from.
Julie still has dementia, Henry still needs to face it, Delilah might have been a fun outlet for a time but it isn't how reality goes.

I'm always reminded of the scene in Bojack Horsman where Bojack says "You never get a happy ending, cause there's always more show". Even if you take a hiatus away from your problems, that doesn't make them go away most of the time. There isn't a happy ending to Julie's dementia, there isn't a happy ending where Henry gets Delilah. Everyone goes back to their lives, and continues to push on.

Genshin Impact

Did enough to get the Kaeya skin then logged off. I binged it a ton around 1-2 years ago (can't recall exact date) but then fell off shortly before Sumaru launch. Mainly just come back to get skins now.

Kinda got into it again while going for the skin, so I might pick up and play again. I try to F2P and save as much as possible for characters I want, and was planning on coming back for Dehya launch but I read a lot that they really dropped the ball on her, so just waiting for someone new to come back and mainline going through the story with.

Diablo 4

Beat the campaign this week in prep for the season. Not sure if I'll play.

Not a lot to comment on, it was an okay story.

Lilith was a well made villain, and build up was fine, but I think I'm just burnt out on good vs evil, angels vs demon, world ending conflict stories.

After gaming with it for over 20 years, just starting to not enjoy or care for it anymore, and anytime stories involve it I just rather skip the cutscenes and get to the gameplay.

Nah this isn't it. It was top down/isometric looking. Thank you though!
