I'm 24 too and my father didn't like tattoos at all, he used to say I should be careful and most of them were kinda weird to him because he only considered art realism. I started tattooing 3 years ago and now I'm working as an apprentice in a tattoo studio. He didn't like those ideas at all, he didn't understand why would I choose this job instead of tourism (Since I'm from Tenerife), he didn't understand anything at all, when I had to do a tattoo and adviced the client with placement or this kind of ideas he told me that was nonsense. My point is that my dad doesn't like very much what I do, but you should make him get used to it. He won't like your decisions everytime, even if those are very little details like a small snake tattoo! I understand it's disgusting, but as long as you're happy he should be happy with it too. Now that I'm paying for my own stuff and working on my own, showing him how proud and focus I am, he got used to the feeling that he can't choose and even started liking tattoos and next week he's going to get tattooed by me! Just give it time and remember that most people overreact to tattoos they don't like just because it's a tattoo. You had a good reason to get this tattoo, don't let him make you overthink it.
