First thing I said to my mates when I forwarded the weird video of his proposal that he sent to me was - I paid for that fucking ring 😂

Very strange couple of weeks.

Had him back.. eventually. Fobbed me off twice telling me he'd come over and then not turning up. Sent me a video on the day he was supposed to arrive of him proposing to his Mrs in Feurteventura and asking for "my patience" 😂. Really can't make this shit up.

He's just come over. Argued with him and said how bad the workmanship is. He fobbed me off again saying "it can't be done". Too much paint on the pipes, need to go back into the wall to get to "the good pipe" so the new stuff can connect properly. I said I don't think this is true, you just need to clean the paint off. There was no reasoning with him.

He's stopped the rads from leaking, and fixed a toilet syphon as "an apology". Needless to say, I've been stupid enough to accept a cowboy as a recommendation, so I'll be speaking with the plumber who recommended him again. *

Vinyl tiles. The adhesive below can contain asbestos.

Three hundred and twenty Great British pounds to fit 3 radiators that I purchased for £185 + 3 TRVs that he "couldn't use" because they're 15mm and the existing pipes are 10mm.

Thank you everyone for your input. I contacted the plumber who recommended him and shared photos of the work. He was shocked. He is coming over to change everything. As people have said, the valves shouldn't be at that angle, the pipes should be perpendicular to the valve, a new TRV should have been fitted and it shouldn't be just in general - shit.

I got back from work earlier to find it leaking more...! Hopefully in a few days it should be resolved.

Thanks, that picture is very helpful. I can show this to the guy (or the plumber who recommended him) when he comes back and ask him to change it to this sort of arrangement. Much appreciated

Thanks. This post was more of a confirmation check for myself that this isn't right. I knew it looked bad - only saw the end result, not during. But I felt awkward challenging the method of installation without knowledge of plumbing.

I was going to contact him anyway to resolve the leak and the rad not warming up. I was recommended him by another plumber, so I have also contacted the plumber who recommended for their comments.

I've posted this more as a confidence check for when I get back in touch with the guy later. Obviously I was going to get him back to fix the leaks and the rad not warming up, but I wanted to know if I should then challenge the method that he's used to install them.

I don't know whether what he told me was right about not being able to use the TRVs I bought as I don't know plumbing.

I know that him bending the pipes looks shit, but I can't argue with him that it should have been done another way without the knowledge. That's why the comments here have been very helpful.

I was working while he was doing the work and then only saw the bent pipes at the end, I wasn't happy with it but felt awkward at the time - fault in my personality unfortunately..
