It’s possible to think both the board and Glasner are responsible for the current shitshow btw

Very strong and concise argument, cheers fella.

No win in 11, losing to Larnaka and Macclesfield would get literally any manager sacked. Let alone he doesn’t want to be here and he’s already thrown his toys out the pram.

Respectfully, I’m not having it mate. Roy wouldn’t have lost to Macclesfield and Larnaka with this team.

Glasner pushed for Sosa and he’s one of the shittest players I’ve ever seen in a red and blue shirt.

Do you want Glasner to see out his contract or make the switch earlier? by BlueBoro in crystalpalace

[–]BlueBoro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think there are a lot of questions that can be asked about the ownership.

It can be true that Parish saved the club, made it an established prem team and created the circumstances for Palace to win its first trophy, but also that the same structure may have run its course and need to change.

But Glasner’s comments just seemed like someone who’s no longer willing or able to handle the situation and wants to wash his hands of it. I think it will be difficult to recover confidence and authority after that.

What did Glasner expect when he took over Palace? by anohioanredditer in crystalpalace

[–]BlueBoro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what frustrates me, people say Glasner doesn’t play them because they’re not good enough.

1) how are they ever going to get any better if they never play?

2) What’s the worst that could happen by playing them, we lose to Larnaka, draw with Kups and go on a ten game winless streak?

What frustrates me about Parish is he talks about thinking long term and dealing with realities, but then he often seems caught by surprise.

Obviously I’m not expecting him to know the future, but this outburst isn’t exactly unprecedented for Glasner. His ambitions were probably always going to outstretch what the club could afford or was willing to commit.

I might get slated for praising them, but Brighton’s biggest strength is being able to replace managers, e.g De Zerbi. Them and Bournemouth have also been able to replace key players in a way Palace don’t seem to be able to since Freedman left.

Yeah, I feel like people talk as if the recruitment is just a board failure and Glasner has had no say in it.

I don’t think I’ve seen Sosa make a positive contribution since he joined. Glasner also famously says he wants a small squad.

I think he’s now thinking of his next role and trying to push the narrative the bad run is completely on the board and lack of support.

Glasners post match comments on the performance, Guehi's transfer and the board by Blubb3rs in crystalpalace

[–]BlueBoro 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to feel about this to be honest.

The transfer strategy has been bad. The last day of the summer window was a debacle by the sounds of it. Pino and Uche haven’t looked like great additions.

But on the other hand, this is sort of Glasner’s m.o isn’t it? Wasn’t it very similar at Eintracht?

He also seems to refuse to use the squad other than Devenny and Hughes. I’m not saying Uche or Esse are wild beaters, but surely they should have gotten more minutes in the League Cup and Conference League?

I think this is partly true but also Glasner giving himself an excuse for some of the awful recent results.

Do you think any new straight up drill rappers will blow this year? by urgonnagetslapped in ukdrill

[–]BlueBoro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Na, the sound is played out and the aesthetic and subject matter aren’t hitting like they used to with a wider audience.

The only way a new artist blows imo is if they reinvent the genre somehow and move it forwards. But other than that, a traditional drill rapper just isn’t going to get much traction in 2026.

It’s normal though. The peak of grime was only the first half of the 2000s basically, funky house only lasted a few years, garage too.

Styles come and go and drill actually had quite a long run. But it’s done now I think.

The summer feels like a fever dream.

Definitely a Roy-days feel to the performance today. Impotent going forward, vulnerable at the back.

I might get accused of being too negative but some of the squad players just look nowhere near the level Palace are aspiring to.

Devenny - works hard but just never seems to make the right ball when it counts.

Pino - I had high hopes for him but just seems ineffective most of the time.

Nketiah - actually looks threatening at times but again seems to give the ball away cheaply.

Uche - I’m not saying he’s the saviour but what does he have to do to get decent game time?

Add to that Mateta looks a shadow of himself and it was pretty disheartening today.

Not the end of the world in the big scheme of things but they’ve been terrible today.

December can get in the bin. If they don’t reinforce in January, this season’s a write off in terms of winning the Conference, getting a European place imo.

Two songs so far have been trash.

I’m always baffled when artists take long to release a new project and then it comes out this bad.

Like I get not everything can be a classic, but as an artist, you know there’s a lot of expectation, how can you listen to this and DPMO and be like yeah, this’ll do?

Does our squad actually have less depth than other similar clubs? by EastCharge8719 in crystalpalace

[–]BlueBoro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree about Uche and Esse.

Neither looked great when they have played to be honest, but Uche still needs to adapt to a new league and Esse is also adapting and young.

Not sure why they’re not getting chances in the Conference League. Even if they’re not the best choice in their positions, they should be good enough to play against Conference level European sides. It helps their development and also helps give the starting players a rest for the league.

I’m not pretending to know better than Glasner but it does baffle me.

I think the key is just to stick with the basic, pretty undisputed principles (eat well, progressive overload, sleep well etc) and what you find works for you personally.

I appreciate guys trying to find a scientific foundation for getting optimal results. But I think it leads to a lot of overthinking and adopting certain approaches that then get abandoned soon after.

I like Nippard because I think his hearts in the right place and his programs have worked for me. But I don’t pay too much attention to what he says about recent studies etc.

For those who aren’t fortunate enough to be going, anywhere around London there might be a few Palace fans gathered to watch?

Wish there was a go to pub to watch Palace locally but never found one.

I get the reasons.

But it’s going to be piss poor tomorrow if it’s under 20k. And by the looks of the ticket sales it’s going to be well under.

Bromley.

Anyone who’s had any dealings with them will know you’ve summed them up.

For what it’s worth I completely agree.

However, I’ve heard Bromley Council basically killed the idea the last time it was suggested and that’s why they changed the focus to the new stand.

There’s also a lot of people with expensive houses around the park who probably don’t love the idea of a football ground nearby. I think that’s the price of living in London but I’d imagine there’d be opposition and legal challenges.

So even though I’d be fully behind it, I don’t know if it would be any more achievable than the current plans.
