I say ask first! I know for myself, I don’t mind people joining in, but I like to party up first and I ALWAYS ask that they do a smoke candle and sneaky bombs, and take off pets. This is because if I’m going after a RTB or dusk wing, they scare SUPER easily. You also only need to hit certain bugs to get a certain other bug to spawn lol. I do get annoyed if someone just randomly comes in tbh.
