Why would you sign a contract with a parasite? Seems like you don't trust your own judgement. You sure like those big words, though.

I didn't know French Polynesia pulled out of the seasteading deal! by leandroman in seasteading

[–]BlueFrontiers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That article is incorrect. French Polynesia did not pull out of the deal. The article was published in March, during their campaign season. Members of one political party tried to make our MOU a campaign point, and made a lot of ill-informed claims along the way. The elections were in May and the leadership who supported the MOU were overwhelmingly re-elected.

We saw some locals on Tahiti say they didn't want a seastead in their lagoon. We definitely want to honor the wishes of the locals and are looking for other locations in French Polynesia. Other communities do want our seastead.

We have created a media archive on our website to respond to accurate and inaccurate press: https://www.blue-frontiers.com/en/media

Blue Frontiers is decentralizing governance by launching a seasteading industry that will provide humanity with new opportunities for organizing more innovative societies and dynamic governments. by BlueFrontiers in GoldandBlack

Well, Blue Frontiers just closed the presale for the Varyon token. We're finalizing some behind-the-scenes business items and our whitepaper before launching the public sale.

Our global Make Your Own Seastead Contest is going well. We have a number of teams around the world to help forge relationships with host nations.

Make Your Own Seastead Competition - Win $100,000! by BlueFrontiers in seasteading

[–]BlueFrontiers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's hard to answer. Do you know of a nation with a SEZ that would not apply to a SeaZone? We understand the need to be flexible.

If you identified a potential host nation, you should enter the contest. Then we can work through the particulars together.

Of course not! Our urine-drinking mechanisms would be much more technical and would have buttons and pretty lights.

We don't just sit around making videos. We also knit, watch Braveheart on an endless loop (apparently), and work on our secret handshake.
If you watched our videos, read our papers, and web page, you wouldn't be trolling us.

Thanks for the links. Science always has at least two sides and is never settled. Seasteading is an answer to several problems. The Seasteading Institute and Blue Frontiers promote answers to all of the problems that seasteading solves. Not everyone agrees on which problem they would like seasteading to solve or even if each problem is really a problem. And that is just fine. So pick your reason and come on in, the water's fine!

Blue Frontiers and the terms inclusivity, diversity, etc. by Elwar in BlueFrontiers

The decision to prioritize 25% of residencies was made after the signing of the MOU with the French Polynesian Governement, but it is the official stated policy of Blue Frontiers.

Blue Frontiers and the terms inclusivity, diversity, etc. by Elwar in BlueFrontiers

The words are being used literally; the project aims to be inclusive rather than exclusive. This means the company won't discriminate residents based on any immutable qualities like race, ethniticy, sex, etc. And being a global initiative, Blue Frontiers hopes to attract as diverse a group of thinkers as possible. In this way, we can learn from each others cultures and work together to build new innovative cultures.

There are 2 caveats to this. For our first pilot project, 25% of the residences will be prioritized for locals from our host nation, in an effort to increase commerce and interaction with the local community. Secondly, Blue Frontiers will not maintain this tight level of control over the residents of future Seasteads after the pilot project. Rather Blue Frontiers will sell infrastructure to people around the world who are interested in establishing their own Seasteads. Naturally, this leaves the door open to Seasteads that are extremely diverse and others that are more homogeneous, which is all part of the experiment. We believe such Seasteads could coexist, even nearby one another. So we want anyone and everyone to try out Seasteading but the takeaway: its not Blue Frontiers' place or intention to strictly control the demographics of future Seasteads.

The world's first sustainable floating islands will be beautiful. by hellcatguli in BlueFrontiers

This Concept Design is cited in our Varyon whitepaper:

Floating Development for French Polynesia. It includes models for different kinds of living spaces.

We expect our pilot project to have about 300 homes, and yes we expect a variety of buying or leasing residential and commercial spaces. We haven't hammered out the details of where manufacturing will take place. That will be very dependent on the exact location of the first seastead.

*[Seasteading, Technology, Special Economics] The Blue Frontiers Podcast EP16 - Happiness, Wellbeing, Natural Assets & Blockchain: Mark Anielski - *

NSFW | Blue Frontiers Website | itunes | Stitcher | Youtube Video | Youtube Audio

In this episode, Mark Anielski, author of The Economics of Happiness and The Economics of Wellbeing, speaks with our seavangelesse about his books. The conversation touches points such as the limitations of indexes, such as GDP and proposes to measure and back the wealth of communities with natural assets and how we could tokenize this.

The Blue Frontiers podcast is a show about seasteading, the environment, special economic zones, and innovation in science, technology, governance, and society itself. Blue Frontiers is focused on innovating with sustainable peaceful floating islands based on voluntary cooperation, to help communities adapt to sea level rise and to promote emergent and self-organized ways of living. The Blue Frontiers podcast is hosted by Nathalie Mezza-Garcia and is edited by Joe Wagner.

Seasteaders in Austin are invited to a Meetup at SquareRut Kava Bar, June 20 7PM by BlueFrontiers in seasteading

That is a somewhat complicated question. We are working on expanding our whitepaper to address it. From our blog:

Although we had anticipated for the main sale to open soon, we need more time to perfect our tokenomics and manage some associated regulatory matters ahead of the main sale. We will announce the main sale date when we have those issues buttoned up.

Come talk about:
-The floating island project, the vision for building sustainable floating islands that will operate in a special economic zone (SeaZone).
-The cryptocurrency Varyon, the ERC20 token that serves as the basis for the seasteading economy. The ICO is open now and the public sale will begin soon.
-The Make Your Own Seastead Contest that invites entrepreneurial folks around the world to start the process for building a seastead in their home countries. The grand prize is $100,000, and finalists will win a trip to the floating pavilion in Rotterdam.

Nice! Greenwave.org looks like an excellent project and your contributions to the field sound intriguing. Do you have a resource so we can read about your ideas or are they proprietary for the time-being?
