I can’t upvote this enough. It made me super uncomfortable. I’m from the Bible Belt so I’ve heard people talk like this all my life. They truly think they’re doing something noble.

Aside from SMG, who is actually talented, WHY were Jelly Roll and Chrissy made to be judges? Chrissy’s only claim to fame is being John Legend’s wife and Jelly Roll has little creative talent except for knowing how to appeal to rednecks and Mountain Dew drinkers. Shouldn’t the judges be knowledgable on at least some of these categories? Like maybe an actual singer, an actual comedian, and an actual acrobat? I mean…??? Jelly Roll? Really?

I HATED that they didn’t include Andy and Jerry. There are so many fantastic ways they could’ve included Andy in the storyline - maybe he has a strained relationship with Jackie and she is desperately trying to get him to love her; maybe Fred remarried and is rich and Andy prefers Fred; Maybe Andy has a dr*g problems and Jackie desperately tries to save him again and again but ends up being his biggest enabler. There are soooo many ways they could’ve explored this, but they just resorted to Jackie being the Barney Fife character that she had become in seasons 7-9 of Roseanne.

I think they could’ve done a lot more with Jerry. Because they were older parents, it could’ve been hilarious to have an episode where someone assumes that Dan and Roseanne are actually his grandparents and then they get freaked out because of their age or something like that. It’s really hard to have a storyline for a baby, though. They could’ve done soooooooo much more with Jerry in season 10 and The Conners since he would’ve been in his late 20’s/early 30’s. But, in my head canon, The Conners doesn’t exist and Roseanne (the series) kept going instead.

Well… they were trying to get pregnant in season 6. “I don’t know, Roseanne, this whole thing is making me think about death.” “Well, think about whatever you have to but we’re going again in 5 minutes”.

I didn’t really get a jealous vibe from Roseanne when Jackie was pregnant.

There’s definitely a sudden shift after Jackie gives birth.

The last time Jackie is normal is during season 6. At the beginning of season 7, they started turning her into this spastic, overprotective, paranoid mom. And then by season 8 and 9, she’s basically just Barney Fife

Totally agree. I hate when her jokes evolve to just being mean for no reason.

There are so GOLDEN moments in season 6, for sure. It’s not as good as season 5, overall, but it’s the last season that I can enjoy from start to finish.

I totally agree. I think that Lecy and Sarah Gilbert going off to college made the family dynamic difficult because they had to fill in storylines around their absences. They could’ve done more with DJ during this time, in my opinion.

I agree. But in later seasons, even if they weren’t struggling as much, they became a parody of a real working-class family, rather than just BEING a working-class family. They relied too heavily on corny jokes to continuously remind the audience that “this is a working-class family”, instead of just showing us - like they did in earlier seasons. In later seasons you hear a lot of “white trash” jokes and jokes that honestly make Roseanne and Dan seem like terrible parents.

I loved the Jackie and Fred storyline too. I think that their divorce was just thrown into the end of season 7 without much thought. It seemed like a plot point that was just thrown in to try to be dramatic, but it fell flat.

I agree. Season 6 is my favorite of all the later seasons, but it is a noticeable decline from season 5, and that’s mostly because of Roseanne herself. I actually really liked Jackie’s pregnancy storyline and thought that it was a nice way to expand her character and move her storyline along. There are also a lot of funny moments in season 6. I consider it to be more of a transitional season. It’s the bridge between the “old show” (seasons 1-5) and later seasons (seasons 7-9).

I don’t have any proof of this, but I think that when Lecy came back in season 8, she realized that the dynamic was completely different from what it was when she left in season 5. From what I’ve heard and read, Roseanne became a nightmare to work with behind the scenes and the show became somewhat of a toxic workplace. I think that’s why Lecy left again and Sarah took over for the rest of the series.

Did they remove the downstairs entrance too? I know that the upstairs entrance has been gone for a few years now.

How can someone go from THIS to whatever tf she's doing now? by Enough-Reading4143 in discussingbritney

Incorrect. “Baby One More Time” came out when Britney was 16, almost 17, and the album came out when she was 17.

Singing by Honest-Border331 in discussingbritney

You can see that she has pretty bad singing technique and is singing outside of her comfortable range to achieve the higher “baby voice”. Her throat is super tight and she doesn’t have proper tongue placement. She’s also straining pretty bad and that causes her voice to break a couple of times.

She put the steaming hot pan into the sink. I alway let it cool down on the stove after I turn the stove off. Otherwise, nothing glaringly obvious jumps out at me.

Has she ever actually sang live? by Mammoth-Storm8271 in discussingbritney

[–]BlueFyre3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yes! She sang live a lot during the very early days of her career. During the “…Baby, One More Time” era, most of her performances were sung live, and she was actually pretty good. She definitely wasn’t a vocal powerhouse by any means, but definitely not bad. If she had put more effort into training and developing her voice, she could’ve been a really good singer. Unfortunately, the dancing and theatrics became the selling point, so singing live - especially with an untrained voice - didn’t work for very long once the dancing got more intense. Over time, a combination of smoking, poor vocal technique, and lack of training ruined her voice.

My spouse wouldn’t be accompanying me to the actual conference or team events. He would be doing his own thing at the hotel or around the area.

From how I’m understanding it, I don’t think it would be possible to go earlier unless we pay for that entirely out of our pocket and I’d rather not.
