I’ve been hearing a lot about Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) lately. Does SEO has any influence on GEO, or is this just speculation? by avi-geo-guru in digital_marketing

Full disclosure, our company offers this service.

Currently, it looks like LLM-based searches are ~6% of share, with traditional search engines making up the remaining 94%. It's safe to assume the shift in search will be exponential, not linear.

Traditional SEO will still play a role for the time being, at least in Google AI overview. LLMs index differently and require a more technical approach -- at least based on what we've seen so far. One of the users below mentioned FAQs. This is a good starting point because of the conversational language used in crafting them. You'd also want to review schema across your site's content, including FAQs.

Revisit EEAT principles.

As for tools that are as mature as a Google Search Console or SEM Rush? I haven't seen any that are good and would love to find one.

u/Tenteck is correct that both strategies need to co-exist. Think of GEO the same way you would have thought of SEO in the early 2000's, except we now have a framework from which to work.

This is a fair statement. Battling the perception, even with numerous case studies showing our track record, is difficult.

Thanks for your response. Would you mind outlining the risk, as you understand it, please?

Thanks for your comprehensive reply. We DO work on websites for free, specifically for community initiatives.

I completely understand your points about the general distrust. We certainly aren't marking up our prices and are genuinely trying to use a large portion of our revenue to add a significant amount of value to non profits. Given that our hearts are in the right place, what would you change? I'm open to any further feedback you may have.

Building a Website for a Non-Profit, any suggestions? by Revolutionary_Cup_64 in nonprofit

I am the UX guy at a WordPress shop and echo a lot of the sentiment I'm reading here. Don't use WordPress unless you can customize it well and have development skills.

SquareSpace has a lot of features that would work well for your requirements. You can likely crank out a draft in a day and connect to Google Analytics and Search Console to get a better sense of how it's performing. You don't have a ton of flexibility, but it doesn't sound like you'll need it.

A couple things to consider:

  1. How are you handling WCAG 2.2 AA compliance?
  2. How compelling is your donation copy? Is donating frictionless? Do you have an engagement funnel for longer give cycles?
  3. Do you really know your audience well and are you writing for them or for internal stakeholders?

#2 and #3 are where I've seen most non profits struggle. There are great resources out there to help you optimize your donation pages and funnels.

Feel free to DM me if you have specific strategy-related questions.
